Chapter 113 (Harper Alizah Grace’s POV)
I’m right, after the happiness there will be always pain. I gritted my teeth after reading the letter he left. They leave me alone in this place and went back on the werewolf territory. It’s so pathetic of me thinking that he actually love me, it’s was all a lie. He’s still mad at me, he just acted kind to get my trust and have the opportunity to have his revenge on me.
I sarcastically laugh as I crumble the letter, so dumb of me. Why I trust him so much? I believe that he’s willing to start over again? It turns out that I’m just kidding myself. It’s my fault too, I’m too naive to believe on his words. After what happen between us yesterday, this is what happened? Haha, how funny it is. I wanted to cry but tears don’t even come out, I wanted to shout but I have no voice.
I’m in pain, feel betrayed and I don’t understand why he left and wrote this letter.
This is driving me crazy, I don’t know what I really feel. Anger? Upset?
Hurt? all of it. It’s a mix emotions, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Is this what he really want? Then okay, he’s willing to forget all of the things we’ve gone through together because of his anger? Alright, I got it, let him do whatever he want and I’ll do mine too.
Using my power, I burn the whole tent. I’ve been decided, I won’t hide my true power from now on. But I won’t tell who really I am, let them discover me, let them be curious. I got enough, I won’t let anyone will bully me, not this time, or in this life time.
I will end the pain here, I will be stronger, and braver. “I will let go my old self, this will be the new me.” As I said that, I closed my eyes and break the seal I made fifteen years ago.
Show no fear, be yourself, I murmured. I opened my eyes and turn my back on the fire. I shifted into my werewolf form, but before I go, I let out a loud growl.
I didn’t go in the palace, instead, I go in the village. I need to talk to Lolita, I wanted to asked something from her.
I went inside the house and wear plain t-shirt and jeans.
As I walked towards her house, everyone who see me walking, stopped what were doing to look at me. Maybe they feel the power surrounding me, I just ignore their stares and go where wanted to go.
A few minutes later, I reached her house. I’m not even knocking, the door suddenly opened. Maybe she’s expecting for my arrival, “My mom was expecting you.” Her daughter was the one who greeted me. I nodded and get inside, “Mom will be here in a sec.” She informed me.
“While waiting, kindly sit down comfort there.” She continued and pointed the sofa.
“Thank you.” She smile and nodded. “My pleasure, my lady.” She answered back and bow before leaving. I watched her get inside a room, when she’s out of my sight, I walk towards the sofa and sat there. A few seconds after I sit down, Lolita showed up with drinks and food in her head. She shouldn’t bother to do that, I won’t stay here for so long, I’ll just going to ask.
“There’s something different, what happened?” She asked me while putting down the drinks and food on the table. I remained silent, “Oh, it’s okay not to answer. You need something from me?” She take back what she said when she saw my reaction. I nodded my head, “Yes, I have.”
She sat down beside me and sign to continued, “I have two questions to ask.” She nodded again. “Go ahead.”
“Okay, first. Is it possible for a vampire to have a werewolf mate and vice versa?” She stared at me, and then blink once.
“No, not possible. Werewolf is for werewolf only, and vampire is for vampire only. But there are some circumstances that a werewolf and vampire will love each other, that will be a forbidden love.” I nodded.
“So werewolf only got a werewolf mate?” I asked to confirm. She nodded, “Yes, but I think there are some hybrids around the world. Those whom having two bloods, a half vampire, half werewolf, half vampire, half human just like that. If that’s the situation, for example a dhampir, she got a vampire blood, does that mean, she can have a vampire mate or she can’t. It will depend on their moon goddess.” She explained.
I got it, I have a werewolf mate because I have a werewolf blood. “By the way may I know why did you ask that?” She asked me, curiosity can be seen in her eyes. “I’m just curious,” I half lied. She nodded, “I see. May I know your second question?” I shook my head.
“Nothing, I can answer it with my own. But thanks for the help. And can I have some of the potions you made” I said. Her brow slightly furrowed, “Which one?” She asked.
“The one which I can able to see the past event.” I answered. She nodded, “I see. Hold on, I’ll just get it for you.” she said and stand up too get what I needed.
“Here it is. You drink it all and think the time where you wanted to go back and see.” She instructed me. I nodded, “I get it. Thank you.”
“No worried. But can I ask something in return, harper?” She asked me. I nodded and take a sip on my drink.
“Are you just a vampire or not?”
She notice that? Impressive. I shook my head, “No, I’m not.” That’s the only hint I give. She smile, it looks like she get the answer she wanted to hear. “I’m right then, you’re like me. A witch.” I don’t say anything, instead, I stand up.
“Thank you for answering my question again. I have to go now.” she stand up also and nodded.
“Okay, see yah later, when you need me, I’m just here.”
“Sure.” I nodded once again before leaving. So, Keriza is not actually just a werewolf then? She’s also a vampire. And she’s hiding that to everyone. A grin slowly formed into my l*ips, it looks like it’s not only me who got a secret like that.
“Harper!” I heard someone called my name so I look up to see who is it. I see Celestine, she’s smiling widely. “Hi,” I greeted with a smile. “Hey, I’m happy to see you visited. How are you?” She asked me. Not good, but I’m trying to be okay.
“Great.” I lied. I don’t want her to worry about me, I know I just met her a few weeks ago but she’s kind to me so why would I treat her bad? She smile, “Don’t lie to me, Harper. I know you’re not fine, you ca share it with me hmm?” She’s a keen observer.
“No, I’m really fine, thanks for the concern. By the way, I’m happy to see you again too. But I’m afraid I can’t stay any longer, I will go back to the palace now. I’ll try to visit some other time,” I told her. She nodded in understanding.
“Okay, have a safe trip then.”
“I will, bye.” I walk closer to her and gave her a short hug. “Something changes, I won’t force you to say something, but I’m hoping you will, Harper.” She said as she hug me back.
She’s that kind, I tapped her back. “I will tell everything but just not now.”
“I understand.” She replied and pulled away from my hug. I nodded, before I completely walk away, I waved my hand on her, she waved back.
I used teleportation for me to reach the palace quickly, oddly satisfying, I didn’t lose so much energy by using that ability of mine. Maybe the seal is the thing which is preventing me to use my power without any restriction.
The guards quickly let me in as soon they saw me, “Good day, my lady.” They greeted, I just nodded and continue walking. The first person I saw was Lilian, she’s with her son, Uriel. I quickly masked some of my scent, I don’t want him to be scared at get intimidated by me.
“Harper!” He literally yelled when he saw me walking in their opposite direction. He run fast to meet me, a smile quickly formed in my l*ips. He miss me that much eh? “You’re here now! I miss you.” he softly said as he hugged me, but since he’s still not that tall, he was just up to my waist.
I miss this child too, “Really you miss me?” I asked him. He nodded, “Yes, you’ve been away for two days. I don’t have anyone who is willing to play with me, Uncle troy was busy with his mate.” He complained. I laugh softly, oh this child, why he’s so bitter.
“You will understand him when you grow up, but now, try to understand him also, got it?” he nodded, “yes, I got it Harper.” He got used by just calling me Harper.
“Honey, call her sister or aunt, she’s older than you.” His mother, Lilian said. I shushed her. “No, that’s just fine. This little kiddo can call me harper.” I told to her, she look at me and couldn’t do anything but to agree.
“See mother, Harper is very kind that’s why I like her.” Lilian let out a sigh and gave me an apologetic look, I just nodded and mouthed it’s okay. “She is. Come on, say bye to her for the mea time. We need to go into your grandpa now,” She said to her son. “Oh, can we get Harper with us?” he asked his mother. I chuckled, he’s such a cutie.
“Don’t bother her now, Rie. She just came back now, she’s probably tired. Let her rest, okay?” He pouted and look at me. “Are you tired?” He asked innocently. I nodded my head, “Yeah, I need to have a rest. But I will come next time so stop pouting already and behave hmm?” The pout in his l*ips was replaced by a smile.
“You said that, you’ll come with us next time.” I nodded to confirm. “Yes, I will.”
“Okay! Mom, let’s go now. Bye, Harper.” He waved his hand on me before he walked towards her mother. I smile and waved back, “See yah later.”
“Cute.” I whispered as I continued to walk. A few minutes ago, I reached my room. I’ll talk to my step and half-brother later, but for now, let me rest, I’m too exhausted on what happen today.
I went directly in my room, and a few minutes later, I reach it. I quickly lay down on the bed and look on the ceilings. I bring out the potion that I get from Lolita a while ago, I wanted to know what happened the day my mother leave.
I opened the bottle and drink the liquid substance, it taste better than the first potion I tasted. Just like what happened before, there was a huge forced pulling me then here I am, witnessing the past.
I went back when the day the alpha king, my mate’s father went into our pack house. I was asleep that night, while my father and his beta was talking with king.
“You really let her go, you choose your daughter but sadly, I know that you know you can’t protect her by your own. I know you’re an Alpha, but your daughter was special. Once the other kingdom will know her existence, they will get her from you, by hook or crook.” The king said seriously.
My dad nodded his head in understanding, “What should I do then, your majesty?” he asked him. The king look at him, intently. “You will give her to us, we will take care of her.” he said that caught my father’s attention.
“What?” He asked in disbelief.
“You hear me right, Duncan. You’re close to me, one of my favorite alpha. I don’t want to see you die by just protecting your daughter from everyone who wanted to take her away and use as an asset.” So it turns out that my father and my mate’s father was a childhood friend?
“I can’t do that. She’s my family, my everything. I will do everything just to protect her from any harm, I won’t let anyone will hurt her as long I’m alive.” My dad said firmly. I couldn’t help but to cry, he’s the best dad in the world.
“I understand that you just don’t want to be away with her. Alright, I’ll give you more time with her. I will go back here when she will turn seven, that’s when she will going to discover her true power. We can’t let others to take her away.” My father shook his head.
“I respect you, your majesty but I can’t let you get her too. She will stay on this pack until she grow.” The king stared at him. “No, you can’t do that. You just have a tribrid daughter.
Everyone will be interested on her.” he’s right.
Only if I can interfere right now, I will tell to dad that he need to agree. I will choose to go with the king, just to save them from death. I will choose to suffer alone than watching them all dying.
“You can’t protect her all the time.” he continued. He’s right, but my dad did everything to make me stay alive. I’m very thankful of him, to them, to the whole pack, because of them, I’m still alive now.
“Believe me, I can your majesty. Even if it will cost my own life.” he swear. The king smirked because of my father’s bravery. “As what you please. Okay then, she’ll be under your care.” My father said thank you.
“Since you decline my offer, I’ll insist to add more warriors in your pack. I’ll widen your territory too. Have a safe and happy life, Duncan. Our talk will end here.” after saying that, he stood up. My father stand up also and bowed, “Thank you for everything your majesty, it’s a big help on us. Thank for the concern too.” The king just nodded and leave.
I don’t know why but this time I can move, so I followed the king. “Watch over them, we can’t let anyone have that child. She’ll be a good asset on us when she grow up. By her, we can seize more territories.” He commanded to his right hand.
“Send Cameron as one of the new warriors I diploid on their pack. He’ll be an spy,” Cameron? My father’s new second in command? Mr. Irendel died when I was four because of a rouge attack. He’s close to me and to my father, we are so sad when he died suddenly.
Realization hits me, Mr. Cameron’s was the werewolf king’s spy. The reason why everyone knew about my existence, and the cause of that bloody night. I wanted to see more of the events of the past but the effectiveness of the potion ended. I was forcedly pulled back into the reality.
I get off the bed and walk towards the window, I’m supposedly shock and panicking now but I’m not. I’m calm, maybe I’m too upset just to think some things deeply. It turns out that no one really help us that day, their only goal is to get me. Even the werewolves, they betrayed their own race.
They let the pack die and burn into ashes just to get me. How pathetic is that? My dad did a good job for not giving me up easily. He choose death to be irresponsible father, I really admire him.
“Harper?” I look on the door when I heard someone called my name and knocked on the door. Maybe, they heard that I came back now. I let out a sigh and move towards there and open it. I saw Samantha, “You’re here now.” She whispered. I nodded, yes I’m here because they abandoned me.
Abandoned. They always did that to me. I’m sick of it, this time, I won’t be left behind. “Yeah, I’ll go and talk to them later. I needed to be alone at the moment.” She looked at me worriedly.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” Maybe she got some idea on what happen. She nodded in understanding. “Okay, don’t forget that we are here for you.” I just nodded.
“Bye for the mean time.” Hmm. I closed the door and let out a sigh, I failed to end the mess, I made it more complicated. I need to end my plan as well, I don’t want to be such an super hero trying to make everything’s right. If they wanted war, then they have it, I don’t care, that was their choice not mine.
“Harper?” Someone knocked on my door again. It’s was my brother, using my power telekinesis, I unlocked and open the door. “Come in.” He enter and look where I’m located at.
“Are you okay?” he asked me. I slowly shook my head, “I’m not, he leave me alone there. He don’t even talk to me, he just left as if I was nothing to him.” I said honestly, he went closer and stand up beside me. He look outside too, “I hate him for doing that. No, I despise him. He’s not a true man for breaking your heart.” That made me feel okay a little.
“Do you think I don’t deserve it?” I asked him. He glance at me and raised an eyebrow. “I’m not an optimistic person, but no, you don’t deserve it, who deserves to be treated that way? No one right?” I nodded.
“No one.” I agreed. He nodded too and look away, “I don’t know what really happened but everything will be alright, you’ll be fine. I know you’re strong Harper. I won’t ask you anything now, let yourself reflect.” He said and tapped my shoulder.
Let myself reflect.
“Then after you reflect, don’t forget to share. It will help to lessen the pain and hatred in your heart.” he made me look at him. “We might be not a fully siblings but at least we somehow shares the same blood. You can trust me, harper.” he said and gave me a reassuring smile.
“I know. I wanted to share but not now. I’m too confused about everything.” He nodded.
“I understand. I will go now then and let you think. I will be the one who will talk to my brother.”
“Thank you and I’m sorry.”
“What are you sorry for?” He asked me. I smile sadly, “I failed to end the war between the werewolves and vampires.” I said as I look down. He chuckled, “Haha, don’t think too much about that. It’s really h*ard and impossible to end. But at least you tried.” He comfort me. I look at him, “Seriously, Harper, you’re thinking too much. Let go yourself from deep thoughts.” I let out a sigh, I hope it was just that easy.
“I’ll try, thanks for comforting me.” I thanked him. “No worries, this is the first time I did this and it’s wonderful. I wanted to help you heal, my dear sister.” he’s willing to help me heal, I can’t stop my tear from streaming down my face.
“Shh, don’t cry. I’m always here for you. I dreamed to have young siblings before then here you are.” I hug him.
“I’m thankful to have you also, brother.” he didn’t say anything, he just hug me back.
“Same.” He whispered as he calm me down. “Shush now… don’t cry. You look ugly when you cry.” He joked. I playfully punched his arm but I accidentally hit him h*ard, the punch made him fall on the ground, ops, I forgot I unsealed already my power. “Damn, you hit like a horse. That hurts!” he complained as he stand up. I made a peace sigh, “Sorry, I punch you too h*ard. That supposedly just a harmless punch.” I said apologetically.
“That’s not even your true strength,
geez, how powerful you are.” This time I grinned. “Just enough to wash out this place.” He rolled his eyes. “It seems like you’re fine now, I’ll take my leave then?” My grumpy brother is back again.
“Sure, the door is open.” He glared at me, does it really hurts?
“Okay,” he said and walk towards the door. But before he leave, he look back. “It nice to see you showing up your true identity, harper.”
I’m glad about it too.
