Chapter 105 (Harper Alizah Grace’s POV)
As I drink the potion, there’s a huge force pulling me into the darkness. It’s working now, taking me back to the time where I need to see. When I opened my eyes, I saw a certain scenario, it is was the day when I was born.
I can’t see their faces clearly, but I can hear their voices.
“She’s such a cutie right? Look at those eyes, she got yours.” The woman who’s holding a child said. I can hear gladness in her voice, the man beside her smiled widely as he caress the cheeks of the new born baby. “Yes, but she’s beautiful as you.” A smile full of longlines formed into my lips. How I miss my father, I missed him so much.
“Father.” I whispered.
I want to come closer to them but I can’t, I can’t even move or just talk. I’m just here to witness not to interfere and change the past.
“But she’ll be brave and strong like you, “The woman said. She’s my mother, the one who leave us behind. I couldn’t help but to feel a little anger now. She seems so happy but why did she leave us? I closed my fist tightly as I continue to hear there conversation.
“She will because she’s our daughter. A full blooded werewolf who’s destined to rule this pack in the future,” I was lying if I say that I’m not shocked on what I heard. What? A full-blooded werewolf? I looked on the woman who’s holding the baby, she looked very uncomfortable.
She’s lying?
How can I be a full-blooded werewolf when I’m a tribrid? The combination of vampire, werewolf and witch? Did she just lied on my father?
“Yes, she’ll be a great leader.” What? did she just agreed? My lip formed into tight line. She’s unbelievable, a liar. I was about to look at them again but the scene ended there. I was transferred into different time.
This time, the young version of me were playing on the garden while the couple not so far of her were watching her attentively. There’s a smile on their faces, clearly happy. But what I saw, I can say that they really love each other.
I wanted to see their faces, but it’s still blur. I took a deep breath and whispered, “What secret should know?”
“Alpha, someone wanted to talk to you.” One men said to my father.
“Alright, I’ll be there in a minute.” H replied, the ma nodded his head as he took his leave.
“Watch over her, I’ll be back here later. Hmm,” He said and kissed the woman’s temple. Dad is very sweet, I really admire him. When dad left, the woman who I was afraid that I can’t call mother come closer to the young version of me.
“Can you come closer honey?” The innocent child stopped what she is doing and looked at her. “Sure mom!” she energetically replied as she half run closer to her.
The woman watch her with a soft laugh, “Careful honey, you’ll get stumble. I won’t run okay.”
“I know mom, but I wanted to come closer quickly so here I am. What can I do for you My Luna?” The child teases her own mother.
I… I can’t remember this one happened. All I know, she leave after giving birth to me. So it turns out that it was a lie, my father lied to me too. He said… he said when I asked him where is my mother, why the other children in the pack have one but I don’t have?
He said… my mother leave when she gave birth to me and never come back. Why did he said that? did something happen? Did she hurt him so bad in the way that he cut his connection on us? This is hella confusing me, I don’t know what to believe, I don’t know what is the truth.
My life is a lie, from the beginning until now.
“Do you love me honey?” I look up when I heard her asked that. The young version of me nodded repeatedly.
“Of course mom, you are my mother. The love of life of my father, I love you both, you and my father!” I bit my inner lip to suppress my emotion. I said that before? The woman pulled her into hug.
“That’s very sweet of you honey.”
“Oh small thing Mom. I love you,” she replied and hug her mother back. “I’m sorry honey, I hope you’ll forgive me someday.” She whispered.
In that moment I know, she really lied and already know what will happen. The next scene I saw broke my heart. My father learnt to know who really she is.
The man who talked to my father that the same day was the werewolf king, the father of my mate.
“This is a sudden visit, your majesty. What I can do for you?” my father asked when he pulled himself up together because of shock.
“Did you just know what you just did?” The king asked him seriously. My father looked at him confused.
“Pardon? But I don’t really know your majesty.” The king stood up from his chair and walked closer to my father. He placed is hand above my father’s shoulder.
“Of course you don’t know. But you just created a mess because of your ignorance,” the king replied.
“Kindly enlightened me, you majesty?” He was kindly offended by the king’s word.
“Well, do you know who is your wife is? who and what she is?”
“Of course, your majesty. She’s my wife, a werewolf, she can’t be here if she’s not right?” The king laughed hard but without any humor in his voice. “How can you be so sure about that? Did you saw her shifted? Or even show a single attribute of being a werewolf?”
This is what I’m telling, she just lied about that.
“No, but she said… she said she’s not a shifter…” Then realization hits my father. Maybe, he realized, she lied on him. On his expression, I can tell that he felt betrayed and hurt.
“Not a shifter, absurd. But no, that’s not the reason why I’m here now. Back to my first question, do you know the mess you created? You just bring a hybrid in my kingdom and mated with her!” The king voice were calm but screaming danger.
“And worst, do you know that she’s the vampire king’s mate? huh?” My eyes widened. What? what the hell I just heard? The vampire king’s mate? No, that can’t be true.
My father was beyond shock, he almost stopped from breathing. “I don’t know what you were saying, your majesty.” He keep on denying.
“Then talk to her about that, ask her.” I saw how my father closed is eyes tightly and took a deep breath he just can’t believe what he just heard.
The same as me, if my mother was the vampire king’s mate, also known as the king’s first wife… does that mean… Troy is my half brother? I blinked twice, what the heck? I look back at the scene in front of me.
“This a warning, Duncan. You only have a day to talk to her. I’ll be back here tomorrow to give my word.” that, the king leave with his warriors.
I know what my father feels right now, the woman he loved he most just lied on him, broke him into a million pieces. How I wish I can hug him right now and comfort him but I just can’t. Now, I know why he lied on me about my mother. He’s just hurt and in pain.
The scene ended there again.
“Alizah honey, can you go in to your room for the mean time? let me talk to your mother.” He calmly said. She look on him then to her mother, her mother nodded at her. She smiled widely,
“Of course dad! I will go now, I’ll see you both on dinner.” They nodded their head.
“Sure honey.” The little girl happily hug her mother one more time then run towards her father and gave her a hug too.
“Bye dad, I love you.”
“I love you too honey. Go ahead now, don’t leave your room okay?” She nodded.
“Promise dad.” When she leave, my father look at her. She was looking down on the floor, “I’m sorry, Duncan.” That’s the first words come into her mouth. So, the king wasn’t lying. “Why?” he asked her, his voice can barely heard. “Why did you lie to me? “He continued.
“I… I didn’t mean to. I’m just afraid,” she paused and look up. “I’m afraid that you’ll hate me if I tell who really I am.”
“But you still lied, I’m such a fool to believe your words. Do you ever really loved me? Or it is just pure pity?” I can hear agony in my father’s voice. It’s hurting me to see him like this.
“No, I love you, I really do.” She was in the verge to cry also. No, she don’t have the right to cry, she caused too much pain on my father. She played him well. I saw my father shook his head and laughed humorlessly.
“No, you don’t love me. You never did, you just used me to escape you past. It’s a pity that I love you, so much.” I couldn’t help but cry also. “But… you just take me for granted.” The woman shook her head.
“No, it’s not like that. I really love you and our daughter.” My father shook his head again,
“That’s not fair. I know that you’re the vampire’s king mate and also the king’s wife. That does mean, you’re not really my wife.” This is much complicated than I thought.
“And I know you’ve got a son whom you abandoned. Are you that selfish?” He continued. That made her look down again causing my father to laugh sarcastically.
“Did I got it right? Are you that selfish Selene?” she look down even more.
“I’m sorry.”
“Your sorry won’t change anything, you lied, not just on me but to your own daughter too.”
“I’m sorry, I’m really really sorry. But please let me stay with her,” she pleaded. “If I needed to kneel down just to let me, I will.” she was about to kneel but he stopped her.
“No need.” He replied firmly.
“Even if I wanted you to stay I can’t. Your husband is more powerful than I, I can’t risk my pack for a person who just lie on me, us.” A tear escaped in her eyes.
“Please, I’m begging you.” She begged as she kneel down. My father just look on her, “I’m afraid that I can’t help you anymore. I love you Selene but this is too much, your choice is to leave or go back to your first family.” As he said that, he turn his back on her and walked towards his daughter’s room.
I expected the scene to change, but I was still standing there, watching the woman’s crying in pain and guilt. I can’t say that she deserved this but she’s wrong. Why she look for somebody to love when she already have her mate and also have a son?
She’s too cruel to abandoned her son and have the guts to be happy?
Yes, she’s a vampire and witch. And a witch doesn’t have a mate, but that doesn’t mean she can have two men in her life at the same time.
That’s just very unfair.
