Secret of the Hired Boyfriend by Misty Rain Chapter 2

Chapter 2
The man’s name was Jack Shaw. The assistant, Danny, who stood behind the man, turned pale.
Just as Danny was hesitating if he should pull Olivia aside, Jack spoke up in his deep voice. “Who are you?”
Olivia could not help but feel dazed when she heard that baritone voice. But the next second, she just complained, “You’re pretty hot, but how come you have such bad memory? I hired you, the most popular guy from the boyfriend renting platform. You’re going to act as the cold, dominant CEO.”
“Acting?” the man echoed in his mind. “Cold, dominant CEO?”
“Right. When you go in later, you have to keep up this feeling of looking down on everyone. Do you still remember the process of how you won me over? I told you before.”
Olivia hoped that this man would not mess up. Otherwise, her money would have gone to waste.
The man’s eyes narrowed slightly behind his sunglasses. “How I won you over?” he asked, feeling intrigued.
“Yeah, didn’t we agree on this online? Keep it up! I give you a bonus later.”
Jack Shaw looked at Olivia’s sparkling eyes and arched his eyebrows. Olivia had not been like this when she’d cried and begged under Jack last night…
While Jack was lost in thought, Olivia was already dragging him into the hotel. Behind him, Danny’s mouth was so wide open that he could swallow an egg.
He could not believe that his CEO had just walked away with a stranger.
“What’s your name?” Jack asked.
“My name is Olivia Greenwood. You can’t even remember my name?” Olivia turned to stare at Jack in shock. “You are pretty good at acting, but your memory is honestly horrible. Don’t talk too much later, or you might mess up.”
Listening to all of Olivia’s reminders, Jack understood that Olivia had mistaken him for someone else.
Olivia told the man everything about this get-together as they walked.
“So, you have to perform well, got it?” Olivia said again.
Jack took off his sunglasses and parted his lips. “Okay,” he uttered.
But Olivia stopped breathing the second Jack took off his sunglasses.
How should she describe those eyes? She thought of a hawk hunting in the night sky. Those eyes were deep and sharp and had a bit of a smile that caught her heart.
Elegance and poise seemed to be carved into one’s DNA. They came naturally and gave other people pressure without them realizing it. Olivia could not believe that she had rented this man for 2,000 dollars.
“What’s wrong?” Jack stopped walking and looked at her.
Olivia snapped out of her thoughts. She cleared her throat to hide her awkwardness. She had seen many hot guys before, after all. How could she go crazy after seeing Jack?
“I’m okay.” Olivia peered at Jack again and asked, without thinking, “Did you get plastic surgery for your face?”
Jack studied her. Not only did he not get angry, he even smiled slightly.
“Uh, I was just wondering. A lot of online influencers get plastic surgery. It’s not a big deal, actually. Your face is everything for your job. I get it.”
“What an interesting girl,” Jack commented with a hidden smile.
“Huh?”
“Alright, let us go in now.” Jack took the initiative to place her hand in the crook of his elbow.
Olivia’s cheeks reddened.
“This man is too professional,” she thought. The 2,000 dollars were completely worth it.
The two had just reached the entrance and had not gone in yet, but she could already hear people talking about her inside.
“Did you know? Olivia brought a handsome guy today, but I think she rented him online. What a joke!”
“Are you serious? How low can she get? She even has to rent a boyfriend?”
“Of course it’s real! I heard their conversation with my own ears. She even told the guy to act as a cold, dominant CEO. I think she’s delusional about being a trophy wife. She seriously rented a CEO!”
“We all know she’s a gold digger! She’s willing to do anything to get a rich guy, but she probably couldn’t find one as great as Blaine, so she had to rent one. Blaine, you have to mess with him later. Make that faker regret acting like a rich guy.”
“But I think that she went crazy after getting dumped by Blaine. She dreams of finding a boyfriend richer and hotter than Blaine to regain her dignity.”
Olivia stood by the door, and her expression fell.
She had rented a boyfriend to get back at her old classmates, but her cover was blown before she even got through the door. She could practically imagine what bullcrap these people would say next.
Right then, Jack asked from beside her, “Why aren’t you going in?”
Olivia looked at him. The expression in Olivia’s eyes was unreadable. “You can go. I won’t give you a negative rating or cancel the order.”
“Are you scared of them?” Jack was as composed as before. It was like he did not hear the ugly words being spoken inside.
Olivia was stubborn and hated getting challenged. She put her hands on her hips. “Me, scared of them? No way!”
Jack arched an eyebrow. “Then, are we going in?”
Olivia took a deep breath. She put her hand around Jack’s arm again and lifted her chin. “Let’s go. I’m not a chicken.”
Jack observed her reaction and could not help but smile.
The private room had been noisy, but it fell silent as soon as Olivia walked in with Jack. Everyone’s attention went to the door.
They knew that Olivia had rented a boyfriend, but no one had expected the man to be so hot.
Even Selena was a little jealous. However, she felt better when she remembered that this worker was pretending to be rich.
Smiling, Selena said, “Olivia, you’re here! Your boyfriend is so handsome. Come on in. We’re all waiting for you.”
Olivia walked in while holding onto Jack’s arm. If one did not think about their backgrounds and identities, they honestly did not seem to be here for a classmate reunion. Instead, they looked like they were walking down a red carpet. They were a pair of eye candies.
Selena poked Blaine’s arm. The other people were shooting glances at him too. Blaine snickered and leaned back lazily.
“So, you’re Olivia’s boyfriend? What is your name?”
“Jack Shaw,” the man replied calmly.
“How come this name sounds familiar?” someone commented.
