Secret of the Hired Boyfriend by Misty Rain Chapter 16

Chapter 16
The next day, as soon as Olivia woke up, she heard someone knocking on her door again. That must be people coming to cause trouble. It had happened several times already. She was starting to develop PTSD.
When she walked into the living room, she saw that Jack had already gone to open the door. She was about to tell him to wait a moment, but it was too late.
A large group of people stood outside the door, each holding various gift boxes. The man leading the group looked like someone not to be messed with, but he seemed extremely respectful, especially when he saw Jack.
The man wanted to approach Jack and get on his good side, but before he could say anything, he suddenly remembered what he had been told before arriving.
He dared not step forward, fearing the dire consequences of accidentally enraging Jack.
Seeing a stranger at her home, Olivia asked warily, “Who are you?”
The moment the man saw Olivia, he immediately knelt before her.
Olivia took a step back in astonishment and asked, “What on earth are you doing?”
The man knocked his head against the floor several times. “My good–for–nothing subordinates were ignorant and offended Miss Greenwood. I beg for your forgiveness, Miss Greenwood, and ask for your mercy, as it will never happen again.”
Olivia looked at Jack as she tried to understand the situation. Finally, she said, “I don’t know you. You’ve got the wrong person.”
The man raised his head to look at her. “I am Joel Richardson. Unfortunately, it was one of my men who attacked you last night. I sincerely apologize to you, Miss Greenwood. Please forgive us!” Upon hearing his name, Olivia’s gaze turned cold. “You’re Joel Richardson?”
It was Joel’s first time meeting her, and he realized why they said Olivia could turn on a sixpence. “Yes, Miss Greenwood. Mr. Jones ordered the attack, and your assailant from last night has already received the appropriate punishment. We truly regret our mistake.”
Of course, it was Blaine Jones.
Before Olivia could respond, Jack walked over and kicked Joel in the chest with full force. The kick was so powerful, and it caught Joel off guard. Joel nearly coughed up blood from the intense pain in his chest and fell backward.
“Who allowed you to come in? Go kneel outside to show me how much you regret everything,” Jack said casually.
Joel was eager to leave this dangerous place. He got up and was about to head out when Jack said, “You will block the way here. Kneel in front of the building. From today onward, come and kneel here for two hours every day until Olivia is in a good mood.”
Joel didn’t know what to say but to obey Jack’s order.
A while after the group left, Olivia looked down from the window. She saw Joel and his men
kneeling downstairs, with all her neighbors watching and taking pictures of those men making a spectacle of themselves.
Joel was truly humiliated this time.
Olivia turned to Jack. “They have already apologized, and the person from last night has been arrested. So why did you make them kneel? What if they get angry and start causing trouble again?”
Jack approached her, raised his hand, and gently stroked her soft hair. “Don’t worry. What goes around comes around.
Olivia knew the saying well, but she couldn’t help feeling that something was not quite right.
For the next week, Olivia saw Joel and his men come to kneel before the building every day. Occasionally, when she went downstairs to buy something, they would greet her and try to please
her.
Olivia felt very uneasy when greeted like that, so she chose not to engage with them. After all, they were the ones who had caused trouble. She had already shown mercy by not reporting them to the authorities.
