My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 256

Chapter 256
Sydney tried to control her emotions, asking softly. “Didn’t you say there was a role that hadn’t been decided? How did it get settled so quickly?” Lorinda explained, “During the auditions, I recommended you to Zach. If nothing went wrong, he should’ve picked you since you’re pretty popular and have good qualifications. But out of nowhere, Zach found this girl to audition and was instantly smitten with her, completely ignoring my opinion. He ended up signing a rookie with no acting experience. I have no clue what he was thinking!”
“A rookie?” Sydney’s face darkened. “What’s her name?”
“It’s…uh…” Lorinda thought for a moment, “I can’t remember. I’d never seen her before, and she had no acting experience on her resume. She did a couple of scenes, and Zach was satisfied. I didn’t think she was better than you. Who knows, maybe she’s Zach’s mistress?”
Sydney remained expressionless.
Lorinda knew she was partly responsible for this since she’d boasted that Sydney getting the role was a sure thing. But who could’ve guessed that Zach would be such a pain? Although she was the assistant director, she couldn’t have any say in the casting.
She tried to comfort Sydney, “Zach is such a cheapskate. He pays peanuts for the actors. I heard the one he picked is only getting thirty grand per episode. With how tight he is on the budget, how could he find any good actors? You could easily make a hundred times more doing any other dramas.” Sydney scoffed.
She never cared about the pay from Zach. If it wasn’t for her eagerness to transition and Zach’s good reputation, why would she even want to be in his drama?
Lorinda was pretty useless too! If it wasn’t for her overconfidence, Sydney wouldn’t have pinned her hopes on her
She put so much effort and money into pleasing Lorinda, and now she was told the role’s been taken?
Casting decisions didn’t happen overnight. If Sydney hadn’t probed today, she probably wouldn’t have found out until the show aired.
“Lorinda, it’s not about the pay. I really like Director Zach, and working with him is a dream of mine. Can you please ask him again? I’d be happy with just an opportunity to audition. Pay isn’t an issue, I’ll do it no matter how low.”
Lorinda hesitated, “It’s tough for me to do anything with this. The major investor really likes Zach, and he has a significant say in the project. I can’t interfere. But you could try asking Mr. Reed, Phoenix Fire’s investor is Skyline Media Group and I heard their boss has a good relationship with the Reed family if the investor speaks up. Zach won’t dare go against them”
Sydney perked up, asking urgently, “Lorinda, is your information reliable?”
“To be honest, I haven’t met Skyline Media Group’s boss. But in J City, almost every one has to respect the Reed family. Since you have the Reed family backing you, it could be your advantage.”
Sydney still looked puzzled.
“Think it over. I have to go, can’t chat with you any longer.”
After hanging up, Sydney thought for a while before calling Liam.
But the call was busy. Liam didn’t always answer her calls; he mostly contacted her, and apparently didn’t like her calling his personal number.
