Luna Reborn by Juliet Swanson Chapter 13

Chapter 13
My fear was diminished slightly upon seeing Lily return to the kitchen. There was still a smile on her polite face.
“Did you give the tea to them?” I asked her.
“Yes, Miss. They love it very much,” she answered.
I observed her every movement and expression while waiting for any sign that she was lying or so. But, I decided to push the plan a little further after I didn’t see anything wrong here.
“That is really great. They should start to feel the good herbal effects right now,” I said enthusiastically.
“Here you go, Lily. I have made you a cup as well. Let’s taste it,” I gently pushed the teacup towards her as she looked at it.
Lily wasn’t touching the drink and instead was staring at the teacup a little strangely.
“Is there something wrong?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at her.
Immediately, my heart sank. Did she only pretend to not know then?
“Does something need to be fixed?”
Focusing my gaze at her, I questioned. She hadn’t been sipping the beverage; rather been giving the teacup a slightly off–putting look. My mood declined. Had she simply been acting as though she was unaware of the thing I had recently accomplished?

Her lips twitched into a hesitant grin as her eyes started to mist
up.
“No, it’s only that… Miss, that’s extremely lovely of you. I appreciate your thoughtfulness,” she murmured gently, “Even though I’m only a maid, your behavior has rendered me appear to be a member of the household.”
My heart started to race as I saw her take a sip. The girl was sipping it without any hesitation. I approached her, joyfully holding her arms in mine and a big smile suddenly arose on my face.
“I appreciate it,” I truly replied.
“Miss?” She inquired, perplexed.
“What is the issue? Why do you appreciate it?”
“Since in the note I wrote to you in the previous day, I threatened to taint my parents‘ tea this evening, but you gladly offered it to them as well as eagerly sipped it yourself. This implies that you skipped over the paper,” I answered gently. She jerked away from me in shock and hurriedly returned to the cup she just sipped.
“It’s alright! Calm down! Only some citrus and herbal tea leaves were there. Herbology isn’t my strong suit, however.”
“Miss, what the reason that make you perform such a wicked joke on me like this?” She raised her voice in rage. Although I didn’t mean to, I believed I did just acknowledge that I tried to harm her.
“Would you please tone it down? No, it wasn’t a joke. I mentioned that I did it to ensure that I could absolutely rely on you.”
“Lily, somebody is following me. I’m going to be killed by them. You aren’t permitted to reveal to my parents about this and I am unable

to share with you all the specifics thing. I cannot be able to defend myself if you engage in. Without your assistance, I am helpless.”
She was speechless and gave me a wary look as if she thought I was insane.
“Lily, I’m not insane,” I insisted. “I’ll even give you twice your annual income for your efforts and delicacy if you support me. So kindly assist me.”
Her eyes needed a while to loosen up, but eventually they did and she sighed in accord. She might have sensed at this point that I wasn’t playing a joke but truly pleading with her for assistance with an extremely real danger. Not just a foolish anxiety kid might have, but something much more serious.
When I could actually share others regarding my very serious
issues, a burden off my shoulders, so I breathed deeply. Or
minimum, in a broad way, a few of it. I relaxed my eyes as my body started to settle.
“I appreciate it,” I muttered. She approached me and gave me a bear embrace, which immediately made me think of my most recent maid, Zoey. Considering the discomfort I felt within, I still let her hug me. If I wanted to live, I had to put those ideas away. Once again, I had to gain the ability to depend on and believe in other people.
“What exactly do you want me to carry out?”
She pulled away and questioned. I jumped in right away to outline the initial steps and wasted no time in doing so.
“For the beginning, I must have a second bank account opened beneath a different name so that I can individually accumulate certain amounts of money. I also need a few portfolios, but that

can wait. Oh! Additionally, I want you to locate a private detective for me. The most outstanding one you’re able to acquire,” I proclaimed while enumerating each.
“I’ll give you a couple of more directions, but for now, I’d really appreciate it if you could assist me with them. Sadly, as a fourteen- year–old, I am unable to perform any of the tasks on my own. You will stand up for me in all future business transactions until I reach legal adulthood.”
When she heard all of the things I wanted, she initially appeared a little astonished. These were likely the last things she anticipated a kid to say to her.
“I am aware that I appear childlike, Lily, but I genuinely need your trust. Can you accomplish that?”
She had a reluctant appearance but finally agreed.
“Oh… there’s also an additional issue,” I added, looking her straight in the eyes
“If somebody betrays me and promises you anything in return, don’t take them up on it. I will multiply anything they suggest.”
Her eyes grew a little rounder. “How do you intend to generate so much income?”
“Don’t stress over it right away,” I advised.
“In a couple of weeks, I expect to become wealthy from my investments.”
She acknowledged her head once more before my mother abruptly entered the dining room. She was unaware of the important
discussion that was currently having.

“What exactly are both of you chatting about?”
She inquired with lighthearted interest, placing her cup of tea in the basin. After a few brief minutes of tension between Lily and I, I was staring up at her to make up.
“Ah, you see… love story and something else,” I casually remarked and then began and laughed pleasantly up at Lily. She reluctantly smiled back at me.
“Oooooh! Both of you discuss about Benjamin, right?” my mother asked with a smirk. In order to maintain my composure, I fought the impulse to feel ashamed and sick and simply faked a smile.
“That sort of thing.”
I hastily dismissed myself stating that I need to complete some homework once the talk had ended and left prior to any further embarrassing issues were brought up. I was so pleased to be returned to my bed and at ease with my feelings by the moment I got there safely. Because, even though the first part of my strategy had gone well, it seemed that still many things to organize.
The following day, my emotions were incredibly scattered. I couldn’t wait to get to the next section because yesterday night’s events worked out so well, but sadly I was forced to hold out. Until I could plan the next phase, a number of events had to be occurred first.
I requested that the driver make a halt at Main Street on the route to school so that I could get the unread letter from the vacant lot. I was grateful that the driver didn’t inquire about the peculiar trip.
At school, I discovered that I was equally preoccupied, but I got by Ava, who greeted me with a slight nod and wave. She was even more delighted when I acknowledged her feelings. She came off

as a very kind young lady. But the sight of her continued to make me wonder how I might have witnessed her. I had the impression that there was some crucial thing that I had to recall. A huge moment maybe?
But I needed to fight it off. I got more pressing matters to consider, and no matter what it will ultimately come back to me.
The pace of the day was excruciatingly slow. It got to the point where, while learning about the modern era, I noticed myself daydreaming outside the window. The lecturer’s voice could be heard in the shadows, but none was actually sinking in.
“Winona?” Suddenly a voice abruptly yelled from the front of the class. When I turned around, Mrs. Newman was looking at me eagerly. Had she desired anything? The class soon shifted its gaze my way in astonishment when I just offered quiet in response.
“I apologize, I didn’t catch that. What was being asked?” I kindly enquire. The class began to softly chuckle at my lack of preparation right away, which I disregarded.
“I asked, ‘What were the primary three variables that triggered the tragedy at Bloodmoon River?” she said.
“When you had been following along with my classes over the past several days, you would be aware of this.”
I was agitated as I regarded her. She was so unwise to believe I got time to squander on unimportant topics.
“No worries,” she said. “I’ll go into detail if you aren’t listening to….”
“The three key variables that contributed to the destruction at Triad River….” I interrupted her and began to explain, “Were the terrain, the assets, and the troops,”

She responded by averting her gaze at me. “That’s quite obvious. Winona, I hardly even need to commend you on that.”
My teeth were clenched. She certainly intended to let me sound ridiculous. She obviously was unwilling to join me in playing this game. However, I had already experienced life and learned most of that. I should have stopped talking, but I was forced to defend myself.
“The Blood Moon Pack was encircled by the rogues who were more acquainted with the terrain, having lived there their entire lives. They deprived their belongings and killed them carefully, using the terrain as camouflage. The troops of the Blood Moon Pack quickly lost all motivation and gave up. The conflict helped the rogues gain fame.” I continued.
The teacher’s cheeks reddened as she realized I wasn’t going to take the disgrace she’d attempted to inflict on me; rather, I planned to push back.
“Who is their initial Alpha?” She shrewdly inquired, believing that I wouldn’t be ready for her inquiry
“Patrick Lux.”
“You’re wrong!” she yelled with jubilation.
“Wilson James, I believe. We’ll move on.”
“Actually,” I again interrupted her off and added some answer.
“Wilson James was only the commander who assisted in guiding the criminals during the war, if you’re diligent about your study. Considering they do not recognize Alphas as a legal authority and he passed away when the pack was formally founded, he is not the initial Alpha. The one who officially acknowledged as initial Alpha

was Patrick Lux. But I can see where the confusion comes from. It’s a typical misunderstanding.”
I gave her a cool smile in return.
“Get yourself out!” she shouted, as her face turned completely red.
I realized I had gone too far when I saw the rage in her eyes. I sighed and gathered my books as I made my way to the door, realizing that what I was doing was definitely justified.
“I’m going to meet you at detention, Miss Granger,” she snarled after me.
“This room. At four.”
When I was the Luna of the Lock Heart Pack, I could have ordered her to be locked up for speaking so rudely to me. But I was no longer a Luna.
Yes, I was left with no choice but to close my eyes and walk out, grateful that she was unable to see what was happening to me as I did so. I ended up in detention for the initial time in both of my lives as a result of that.
Oh, damn.
