Luna Reborn by Juliet Swanson Chapter 76

Chapter 76
Even though I had pressed the silver knife to her throat slightly deeper than before, it did nothing to make Isabella stop from laughing.
“Sorry, sorry,” she told me as she still struggled to hold her laughter.
“I thought… that you were the one who was supposed to be the smart one. I can’t believe that I worried too much for nothing.”
When I heard what Isabella had said, I couldn’t help but frown because I was confused. What did this girl mean with ‘the smart one’? It implied that there were more people involved other than just me alone. Who was the other she referred to? Did she mean to talk about Benjamin?
I really needed her answer. The real answers. Unlike this kind of thing she had been doing that didn’t give me any answers while she was looking down on me. Although I was the one who held a knife, I didn’t feel like I had any control in this situation. Isabella was able to make my confidence go away in every single thing I did.
“Who else do you mean? Are you talking about your plans to seduce Benjamin to get the Luna position?”
This time, Isabella looked very confused for a mere second. She looked at me as if she was trying to see if I was being dead serious. However, that expression didn’t last long because she burst into laughter once again.
“Where the heck do you think about that kind of stuff? I swear I’ve never laughed this much for years. Why the hell would I want to waste my time to seduce the shitty Alpha’s heir?”
My whole body froze on the spot. How was that possible? Was this only a mind trick so that I would be caught off- guard? After all, that had been her whole scheme in my former life. It was her whole reason to kill me. If her goal wasn’ t actually getting the Luna position or making Benjamin as herself alone, so what was her real purpose then?
“Enough!” I finally yelled by using my marked authority. because my patience was completely gone by now.
“Tell me the real truth. Now! Tell me what you’re actually planning, Isabella!”
on
The command effects really did hit me hard as I was holding onto the bed rail tightly in order to stop myself from falling top of her. This time, I was also coughing hardly as if I could feel that there was a sharp pain that pierced into my brain. If I didn’t know it very well, it frankly felt as if I was truly dying. Did I even really use enough energy to use the command properly? Somehow, it didn’t feel right.
For a mere second, Isabella’s eyes went blank. However, it wasn’t like before. Immediately, she snapped out of it. It almost felt like my command did nothing to her at all. My command seemed not strong enough to make her obey my order.
“What was that?” she asked me.
“Did you just try to make me obey you with Alpha’s order?”
“Just tell me,” I weaky spoke to her while my vision started to
Nevertheless, I was still able to see Isabella let out a smirk as that girl looked back at me, who was under this intense pain.
“Oh, sweetie, no way,” she responded disdainfully.
“Anyway, you’ve also got, uhh … you’ve actually got a little something-”
As Isabella said that, she pulled her arm out beneath me easily as she tapped her nose to let me know that there was something on my face there. It made me frown, but I still gently touched the place she had shown me with a finger. Sure enough, it turned out that my nose was bleeding as I pulled my hand away to check it.
“It seems to me that you’re only a puppy who barked louder for such tiny paws you’ve got,” she made a remark, still in a mocking tone to me
“You know, I actually planned to keep you alive for a bit longer. However, it’ll save me a lot of time if I maybe just kill you right here.”
When she said that, she used the bottom part of palm to strike me suddenly into my chest. It threw me across the room, which I then slid along the floor. Frankly, I really didn’t know what the fuck was actually going on here. All of us thought that Isabella was a weak-she wolf. It turned out that she deceived us.
I could still feel the place where she had hit me. Indeed, it was much stronger than I had ever thought. Not to mention, I felt very weak by now and might be not helping at all. With my current condition, I knew that there was a good chance for
her to really finish me off here. So, I gripped the dagger tighter than before as I watched her getting up from the bed.
However, I was actually surprised to see her wincing slightly as she started to walk towards me. Was her injury actually real? There was no way I could believe that she had gone through the extra effort to dislocate her own ankle in order to infiltrate my pack.
If I really had a chance to escape this place, I had to focus myself to think about it thoroughly. After all, that was what this led up to. Still, I knew that I was no match for Isabella in my current state even if her ankle was injured. Especially when she could shift easily to her wolf form to rip my throat
out.
“It’s been quite fun, Winona,” she casually said.
After that, the girl then reached down to get me. Yet, I was somehow able to find strength to dodge her hand at the very last second before I turned my body around her. Knowing very well that this would be the only chance for me to attack her, I quickly grabbed onto her leg as I used my silver knife to pierce through her already injured ankle.
Soon enough, Isabella screamed out in pain which was something I started to think if she was actually able to do that. Then, I immediately withdrew my knife. If I was lucky, I hoped that this injury caused by the silver knife would make her bleed even more.
“You fucking bitch!” the girl yelled as she tried to come at me again.
This time, I didn’t give Isabella any chance to even touch me because I quickly used my leg to kick her with as much force
as I could get. Since I was unable to shift into a wolf form and already feeling weak, my attack certainly wasn’t as powerful as her who managed to make her throw me across the wall. Still, it was enough for me. After all, she fell backwards until she hit the floor. Not only that, her injured ankle also
prevented her from keeping her stay balanced on her own feet.
This was the best opportunity I would get, I knew it. I quickly rose up to leave her room as fast as I could. Meanwhile, Isabella looked like she wanted to try to chase me. However, that girl quickly stopped when she saw me leaving through the doorway. She knew better of escaping from here.
I could only think that she didn’t chase me up meant that she had enough patience to wait before she carried me to my death. Her pause made me sure that, whatever her plan was, it had to be something that wasn’t worth chasing me through the hospital. Not only that, her attack on me even felt very half-hearted as if she was only toying with me casually rather than actually trying to kill me. Somehow, I didn’t know if that made me feel better or worse.
The whole incident really made me realize how I actually was very unprepared to go through this. I truly thought that I would know at least what Isabella was actually planning because I already lived through it in my former life. However, was I wrong from what she had told me? Was there anything else that I probably didn’t know of?
Isabella laughing at my assumptions was enough evidence for me that there had to be some big secret that I totally had no idea about. Something that might be or might not be related to the rogues. After all, she never actually denied her
affiliation with those rogues even if she did laugh about what
I accused her of.
As for Benjamin, did she also lie about that?
It was really hard for me to think of a future where she wasn’t consistently making efforts to take him away from me. Even in this life, where I purposefully made choices in order to avoid that future, I was pretty sure that nothing I had done could really change Isabella’s plans that drastically.
Besides, it seemed to me that I had made it even way easier
for her to take him from me this time.
Still, all of this really confused me to my bones.
