My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 440

Chapter 440
Trisha didn’t dare ask what the nurse had said, just hoping Caitlyn would be okay.
If anything happened to Caitlyn now, Trisha worried that Celeste would fall apart.
After all these years, they knew the chances of Caitlyn waking up were small, but she always wanted persevere.
As long as Caitlyn was alive, she felt there was hope.
There’s a saying, when your parents are alive, you have a home; when they’re died you’re on your own.
No one could blame Celeste for her love for her mother.
About ten minutes after Trisha hung up the phone, Mason rushed over.
He hurried into the waiting area.
In that moment, Trisha felt like Mason was way more useful than Liam – he would be there if something really happened.
“Celeste, how’s your mother?” Mason panted, probably having run straight from his car.
Celeste looked at him, puzzled. Trisha quickly explained, “When you were signing the papers earlier, Bentley – Mr. Fletcher called you. He said he had something to tell you. When he heard Caitlyn was in surgery, he came right over.”
Celeste relaxed a bit and whispered, “She’s still in critical condition, no news yet.”
Caitlyn had a lung infection, and the nurse had her sign the surgery consent form just now.
Though it was a minimally invasive surgery, it was risky for Caitlyn.
The nurse told her that, there was no need for Caitlyn to have the surgery at this point. Even if she were saved, she wouldn’t live much longer, and insisting on the surgery might be a waste of time and money.
But Celeste couldn’t bring herself to give up on treatment.
She couldn’t just let Caitlyn die.
Mason comforted her, saying, “No news is good news.”
Celeste hoped so, but things didn’t always go as well as imagined.
“Mr. Fletcher, what did you want to talk to me about?”
Mason said, “Let’s wait until your mother’s surgery is over. I’m not in a hurry.”
Celeste wanted to send Mason away, but then she thought that he must have rushed over only because he heard something had happened to her. Sending him away would seem too cold.
So, she kept quiet.
The three of them sat together, waiting for the doctor’s notification from the operating room.
After about ten more minutes, the light in the operating room finally turned off.
Celeste immediately stood up.
Trisha and Mason also got up closely.
The operating room door opened, and the medical staff came out one by one.
Celeste was very nervous, wanting to go forward but not daring to.
The doctor took off his mask, his expression heavy, and said, “Go in and see your mother for the last time. Say your goodbyes.”
Celeste’s hand trembled, and she felt like she was falling into an abyss.
The sounds around her became distant, with only the doctor’s words ringing clearly in her ears. Trisha, with tears in her eyes, supported Celeste and whispered, “Letti, you have to be strong.”
Mason’s lips moved, and after a while, he said, “You should go in and see her.”
Celeste clenched her hands and whispered, “I’m okay.”
With that, she walked towards the operating room.
