My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 342

Chapter 342
Initially thought to be just a regular assault case, the police encountered obstacles during their investigation. First, the surveillance footage was replaced, and then they discovered that the car used by the kidnappers was actually a scrapped car with fake license plates.
When they found the car, it had already been scrapped, and no clues were found.
Skyler went to the police station a few times and almost got detained by the police, but in the end, the old lady managed to settle the matter and even scolded Skyler.
Celeste didn’t expect the case to end up unresolved.
Old Mr. Campbell was discharged from the hospital a week later, his health recovering quite well, and he resumed his daily morning walks. Three days later, when Celeste returned home, instead of seeing Grandpa David telling her to wash her hands for dinner as usual, she saw a note on his usual chair.
The note read: “The pig at home is about to give birth to piglets, I’m going back to help deliver them. I’ll roast you a suckling pig.”
And just like that, Old Mr. Campbell quietly left J City.
After making sure Old Mr. Campbell safely returned to his hometown, Celeste got busy with filming and preparing for the old lady’s birthday banquet.
Soon she encountered her first problem.
The venue originally booked for the banquet was reserved by someone else.
Although there were many beautiful venues available for rent in J City, the one by Ruby Lake was obviously the most suitable in terms of landscape and size. The old lady only held a birthday banquet once every ten years, so it couldn’t be taken lightly.
Celeste contacted the person in charge of Ruby Lake, hoping to inquire about the other client’s phone number to see if they could negotiate a
deal.
However, the person in charge refused, so Celeste had to find a way to contact the owner of the venue.
After searching for a long time, she found Mrs. Kelley.
It turned out that the venue was owned by Mrs. Kelley’s family. When Celeste proposed to coordinate the rental time, Mrs. Kelley said with a difficult expression: “Ms. Campbell, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but the other party has already booked a wedding and set a date. How am I supposed to tell them?”
Celeste said, “Mrs. Kelley, please talk to them for me. If they are willing to change the date, I can pay three times their deposit.”
Mrs. Kelley smiled, her expression laced with a hint of contempt, as she addressed Skyler. “Ms. Campbell, it seems your family is not accustomed to hosting extravagant banquets, so perhaps you fail.
Celeste pulled herself together, “I get what Mrs. Kelley is saying, but it’s the old lady’s birthday celebration, and it only happens once every ten years. I’ve got to give it my all. Mrs. Kelley is a businesswoman, and she surely doesn’t want to upset her clients. So, could you please give me the contact info of the clients who booked the place? I’ll figure out a way to communicate with them. I’ll cover any penalties or other fees, is that cool?”
“Ms. Campbell, you said I’m in business, and the basic principle of doing business is to protect the privacy of clients. If I give you their info today, and tomorrow the clients spread the word, my reputation built over the years would be affected. Who’d dare to do business with me then?”
Celeste went silent.
“Alright,” Mrs. Kelley stood up, “I have to receive other guests later. You can go check out other places. There are plenty of venues in J City. Look around a bit more, and you’ll find the right place.”
After Celeste left, Mrs. Kelley picked up her phone and called Skyler.
“Skyler, don’t worry, I’ll take care of the things you asked me to.”
“Thank you so much. I’ll compensate you for the venue loss.”
“No need for that. Just keep an eye on the issue I mentioned to you before. I’ve already notified the other big venues. It won’t be that easy for Celeste to rent a place.”
After hanging up, Skyler suddenly heard the sound of shattered glass behind her.
