My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 266

Chapter 266
But Michaela didn’t get mad. She just glanced at her indifferently, “There’s not much difference between the living and the dead, really.”
Molly frowned at her.
Among the young people in the Fletcher family, Molly was the most arrogant and domineering, always speaking without considering the feelings of others.
Nicolas was worried that she would blurt out something upsetting, so he quickly changed the subject, “Aren’t you in the forensic department? Do you also deal with dead bodies there?”
Michaela replied, “We do when necessary, but usually, there are medical examiners for the job. When they’re busy, we go over to help with autopsies.”
“Autopsies?” Nicolas twitched his mouth, “How can you still eat after that?”
“Why shouldn’t I be able to eat? It’s just work.”
Nicolas turned to Simon, “If Michaela’s hands have touched dead bodies, would you mind if she still served you food?”
Now everyone was looking at Simon. Even Michaela was waiting for his answer.
Celeste thought Michaela’s job was cool, but in their circle, it was a bit of an oddity, dealing with the dead all day long. It was considered unlucky for business people.
Simon looked at everyone slowly and said, “Chefs go to the bathroom and wipe their butts with the same hands they cook with, Don’t you all still eat their food?”
Nicolas gritted his teeth, “Who doesn’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom and before cooking?”
“Since you understand the logic, why are you asking such a ridiculous question?”
Simon put his hand on Michaela’s, “The dead can’t talk, but somehow she can communicate with the corpses.” He thought of something and turned to Michaela, “If one day I die, would you personally do my autopsy? I think it’d be romantic.”
This remark gave everyone the creeps. Nicolas couldn’t help but say, “What on earth do you find romantic?”
Michaela withdrew her hand, glared at him, and coldly said, “No way!”
Realizing he had angered her, Simon softened his voice, “I was just joking. Don’t be mad, okay?”
Saying so, he started coughing.
Seeing this, Michaela immediately became anxious.
Simon wasn’t as healthy as Gavin. Although he was the older brother, he was born very weak.
He had been sick since birth, and for more than 20 years, he had always needed medication. Michaela was worried.
But Simon only coughed a few times and stopped. Michaela asked, “Where’s your medicine?”
“In the car.”
“I’ll go get it. Be right back.”
Simon nodded.
Steven asked after Michaela had left, “She really cares about you. Why did you pretend to cough and scare her?” Simon chuckled softly, his eyes gentle, “When she’s worried about me, she forgets to be mad.”
Nicolas clicked his tongue, “So.cunning.”
He winked at Liam, “See? Learn from it.”
Liam still didn’t bother to deal with him, and turned to Simon, “Do you still have the red wine you sent me last time?” Simon was slightly taken aback.
Nicolas chimed in, “I thought you weren’t into drinking? Last year, when Simon gave it to you, you didn’t even want it.” Liam glanced at Celeste, “My wife likes it. She can drink half a bottle by herself.”
Celeste almost choked on the water in her mouth.
The red wine Simon had given her was the same bottle she had opened before she bathed Liam on the night of his discharge from the hospital.
She did like red wine, but why did Liam have to mention that particular bottle? She felt like he was teasing her.
“Simon, I’d like a few more bottles if you still have any left.”
Simon smiled faintly, “It’s homemade wine from a friend’s vineyard. I don’t know if they have any this year, but I’ll check with them for you.”
“Is it really that good? I’m kind of curious.” Steven asked, “Where’s your friend’s winery?”
“It’s not really a winery, just a private vineyard. They make wine for fun. If you’re interested, I can take you there next time we visit.”
Steven hadn’t responded yet when Molly chimed in, “You should visit French wineries. The small domestic workshops are nothing to those. When I was studying abroad, I met a friend whose family is in the wine business in France. They own dozens of large vineyards there, equipped with advanced technology. If Steven is interested, I can arrange a visit.”
Simon chuckled, “Ms. Fletcher has been abroad too long; her impression of our country is still from a decade ago. Our own wine industry is developing rapidly, and there are many mature wine regions everywhere. If you have the time, go see for yourself and broaden your horizons.”
Molly stiffened.
