My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 218

Chapter 218
Celeste paused before turning to him, taking a serious tone. “Liam, I don’t want my child to share their father’s love with someone else. If I ever do get pregnant, I won’t let the kid come into this world.” She didn’t want her child to face the same fate she had.
Liam clenched his jaw, his face darkening dramatically. “That’s for the best. I don’t want another complication during our divorce either”
With those words, he turned on his heel, his expression frigid. As he moved past, his arm accidentally jostled a petite pot plant, causing it to topple to the floor and shatter.
As Celeste watched him leave the balcony, it took her a while to start picking up the shattered pot.
Suddenly, she paused.
On the ground, where Liam had just been standing, there were a few drops of blood.
His wound hadn’t fully healed yet, and while pretending with her and carrying her all the way back, his arm wound seemed to have reopened.
Her heart tightened, and she was about to chase after him when she heard the sound of a car engine starting downstairs.
Liam had driven away
She stopped herself from following and stayed put.
That night, Liam didn’t come home, and Celeste couldn’t sleep either. The moment she heard noise downstairs the next morning, she got up. Liam had just crossed the threshold. Spotting her, he wore a vacant expression, making a beeline for the refrigerator to retrieve a bottle of water. Celeste noticed his clothes were different from the ones he had worn the night before, which meant he hadn’t returned home at all.
Her mouth opened, asking softly, “Have you eaten? What do you want to eat? How’s your wound? Did you get it rewrapped?”
Liam closed the water bottle, chuckling sarcastically. “There’s no one else around, so why are you still acting?”
Celeste’s heart ached, but she kept a casual tone. “The sooner you recover and go to work, the sooner you can take control of the company, and I can get my divorce and the property I’ll receive. So it’s not really acting.
A dark glint flashed in Liam’s eyes. After a moment, he spat, “Celeste, you’re so selfish. You only care about yourself!”
With that, he tossed the empty bottle in the trash and went upstairs, his face dark.
Celeste’s nose tingled, and she started heating up the food she had prepared.
As it cooked, her Facebook notifications went off. She glanced over and saw a new update from Sydney.
Hesitant, she decided to open it in the end.
Sydney had posted a photo. In it was a pile of bloody gauze, with a caption expressing her concern.
Celeste snorted.
There was a bunny-shaped hairpin on the gauze. It had been used to secure the bandages when she was treating Liam’s wound.
It seemed someone was worried about him.
Laughing at herself, Celeste turned off the stove, changed her clothes, and went out.
When Trisha and her followers arrived at their meeting spot, Celeste was focused on stirring her coffee.
Trisha approached, and it was only then that Celeste noticed her.
“What’s the matter? Didn’t catch enough sleep last night?” Trisha teased, before directing her attention to the kind-faced woman at her side. “This is my dear friend, Celeste, whom I’ve spoken of before. She’s currently in search of an assistant.”
Celeste snapped back to reality and quickly invited them to sit down.
Trisha continued, “Letti, this is Miss Janetta, she’s four years older than us. I usually call her Jane. You called me early this morning to meet up, it’s lucky Jane is available today. Why did you get up so early?”
“Didn’t sleep well, so I got up early” Celeste casually answered, and then began to size up Janetta.
Based on the info Trisha sent before, Janetta should be 30 years old. She’s not old, but she looks a bit worn out maybe because taking care of kids.. Janetta is not tall, about 5’3, slim and petite. Although her skin isn’t smooth, she’s dressed neatly and is still quite likable.
