Exchange My Life for Your Heart by Karrin Chapter 21

Chapter 21 Have A Talk
Dr. Nolan froze in fear, lifting his head to glance at Theodore and then immediately bowing it down. His heart was in turmoil, tossed between conflicting emotions.
With just a brief look at Dr. Nolan, Theo turned to Maeve. “Don’t you know? Cecilia is
dead. Theo had thought he had achieved a state of calmness, but as he uttered those
words, his heart felt a sharp pang. Unconsciously, Theo furrowed his brows, and Maeve
noticed his movements.
“What? Who died?” Maeve looked at Theo in astonishment, as if completely ignorant of
Cecilia’s death.
word
“Cecilia, she jumped off from the roof and took her own life.” Theodore said word by
“How could that be? Why would my sister suddenly choose to take her own life? She was perfectly fine. Is it… all my fault? I’m sure it’s because of me that she couldn’t bear it anymore.” Maeve feigned self–blame, expecting Theo to console her as usual, perhaps even intensify his dislike for Cecilia.
“Perhaps the weight of her misdeeds and the burden of her lies became too much to bear. Overwhelmed by guilt, she found solace in the act of suicide.” Said Theo while his gaze remained fixed on Maeve. He wanted to witness her reaction upon learning about his
sister’s tragic end.
Maeve’s eyes instantly turned red.
Dr. Nolan noticed Theo’s scrutiny and interjected, “Uremia patients rely heavily on their emotional well–being. Miss Cecilia Payne had given Maeve hope, only to shatter it mercilessly. Such a torment, even the strongest would struggle to withstand.”
Having said that, Dr. Nolan caught Theo’s attention. How could he have overlooked this doctor? He was a significant figure in Maeve’s plan.
“You’re right. She had only one kidney left, but she deceived us.” She selflessly donated
the other kidney to him!
“But, doctor, how do you know all this?”
Dr. Nolan, relieved by the previous gentleness in Theo’s tone, was caught off guard by
the sudden query.
“I…” Dr. Nolan panicked, involuntarily stealing a glance at Maeve.
“He knows everything because I told him. I confided in Dr. Nolan.” Maeve explained hastily. Regardless of whether Theo believed her or not, they needed to provide
explanations.
Theo nodded subtly, his expression unfathomable.

Maeve felt a twinge of delight and swiftly changed the topic. “It’s better that she’s dead.
That way, we can be together openly, Theo. There won’t be any more obstacles between us.”
Maeve moved closer, intending to embrace Theo.
Theo coldly evaded Maeve, turning a blind eye to her embarrassed expression.
“Theo, I strongly believe in karma. I suppose my sister has reached this point as
retribution. After all, her past actions were truly malicious.” Maeve forced a smile, continuing
to belittle Cecilia
“You’re right.” Theo’s words once again left Maeve uncertain about his thoughts.
Just as Maeve was perplexed, Theo suddenly raised his voice. “Dr. Nolan, you don’t
need to come to work from now on.”
What? Dr. Nolan looked up in astonishment, his eyes widening. He was fired? What
about his promotion aspirations? Just as Dr. Nolan was about to inquire, he heard a bellow.
“Get out!”
Dr. Nolan stood rooted to the spot, knowing that leaving meant no chance of return.
However, he had also heard of Theodore’s ruthless methods, so after a moment’s hesitation,
he could only turn and depart.
Maeve was also taken aback by his unexpected anger Before she could inquire further,
Theo said, “Let’s have a talk”
