“Vivienne!” Liam suddenly interrupted me. He sounded like he could not
believe what he heard. “You gave your shares to her?”
“Yes…”
“You idiot!” He said that and hung up.
I put the phone away and lay on my bed.
If I sold my shares to Liam, getting two million dollars would not be a problem.
However, I did not really care if I received the money.
I had to make sure that Anna took care of Father, and I could not afford to
offend her.
Mr. Cailan came to look for me an hour later with the same acquisition
contract. He said, “Mr. Mendez said that he’ll take care of your tuition fees. He
will also give you a hundred thousand dollars a month as an allowance.”

“Allowance?” I asked. “What about the divorce papers?”
“Mr. Mendez didn’t mention that.”
I did not sign the contract. Instead, I went to the bathroom and dialed Liam’s
number.
He only picked up after three times. “What is it this time?” He sounded very
annoyed.
“Liam, please give me two million dollars and the divorce papers,” I said.
From the sound of heavy breathing, I could tell that he was angry. Worried that he might hang up again, I said hastily, “I don’t want the mansion and
anything else. Just give me two million dollars, alright? Let’s part ways
amicably.”
“Part ways?” Liam smirked. “I never said I wanted to part ways with you.”
“I really want to divorce,” I said.

“Then you can leave. I’m not giving you a single cent,” he said coldly.
“You’re not making any sense,” I said.

“I’m only going by the letter of the law,” Liam said arrogantly. “You can sue me
in court, and I’ll respect the court’s decision.”
I bit my lip and said nothing.
If I brought the case to court, Liam’s lawyers would definitely stall for time,
and I did not have that much time to waste.
“Are we done?” Liam said coldly. “Never mention this again.”
I could not take it anymore. “You don’t love me at all, Liam. You don’t even
touch me. Why don’t you want to divorce me?”
“But I love you!” he said through gritted teeth. “Everyone loves the dearest
princess of the Nyra family!”

Argh! I blurted, “I have cancer.”
Liam was taken aback. “What?”
“I have cancer, and I’m giving up treatment. I want to divorce you so I can die
alone. Happy now?”
“So what do you want the money for?” His tone was gentler.
“I want to go and travel the world,” I said. “I need money for medicine too. I
can still live for…”
“Go and die,” Liam said coldly.
I was shocked.
“You don’t need medicine. Just go and die,” Liam said. “I’ll pay twenty million
dollars for a choice grave site, and I’ll buy the most luxurious tombstone and
get ‘To My Dearest Wife, Vivienne Nyra’ carved on it. What do you think?
Would you like that?”

“Why did you say that…” I said woodenly.
“Because you’re acting like a lunatic!” He suddenly roared at me. “You tried to take your own life two days ago, and you say you have cancer today. What’s
with you and your weird obsession with dying? If you think you can hold me
hostage with your silly antics, dream on!”
There was a loud bang on the other end of the call. He probably threw his
phone away.
It took me a long time for me to come to my senses.
I washed my face and left the bathroom.
Mr. Cailan was still standing there. He smiled at me.
