Chapter 6 Will Became My Family
It was Will!
He was still wearing the tattered clothes from yesterday, with disheveled hair almost covering half of his face, making it nearly impossible to see his features. But I knew, beneath that unruly hair, was a face that could captivate anyone.
Is such a person… a rogue wolf?
To be honest, we weren’t acquainted, and I didn’t even know him at all. Yet, I took him in like this, knowing it was impulsive and potentially dangerous. But… I couldn’t restrain this desire. I longed for his strength and the warmth he brought into my life.
“I’m back,” his voice sounded cold and indifferent, but to me, it was as melodious as the most enchanting music.
A lump formed in my throat, and I suddenly felt choked up. “I… I thought you wouldn’t come back.“”
Will held a bunch of flowers in his hand as he slowly approached me, a gentle smile on his face. “I just went to pick some flowers. Here, I thought you might like them.”
I took the flowers, my heart uncontrollably pounding, and I couldn’t take my eyes off him. It was as if he would vanish if I blinked. So, he had only gone to pick flowers; he truly hadn’t
left.
“Let’s go inside?” Will asked tentatively.
‘Can you go to a plac
hand and said with bitterness.
Will’s eyes darkened slightly, but he didn’t refuse. I led him to the graveyard and placed the flowers he picked in front of my mother’s tombstone.
It had been a long time since I brought flowers for my mother.
The night had fallen, and the crescent moon ascended, hanging in the sky like a blood–red curved blade. Will stood silently behind me, not saying a word, just gazing up at that
moon.
My mother’s tombstone had become weathered over time, with no one visiting her in the past three years until I was released from prison.
I choked up and whispered to my mother in my heart, “Mom, I’m no longer alone now. I have a new friend named Will.”
“My wolf, Thea, hasn’t returned yet, but I’ll pray to the moon with all my heart.”
Sincerely, I thought, “Mom, please bless me with a swift recovery of strength and a smooth revenge.”
My eyes welled up with moisture, but I didn’t cry. I didn’t want to cry in front of Will. All the hardships I had endured would only make me stronger.
Then I stood up, turned to face Will, and saw the blood–red crescent reflected in his blue eyes. The wind scattered his disheveled hair. He was a terrifying killer, yet his gaze was innocent and untainted. He was dangerous and charming, but I wasn’t afraid of him.

“What do you usually do?” I asked with concern.
Will shrugged. “Just wander around.”
“By the way, how old are you?”
“25 years and two months.”
“You were born in summer?” I said in surprise.
He nodded, and I smiled.

“I’m also 25. I was born in April, a few months older than you. So, from now on, you’re my little brother.”
Will’s eye twitched, and he asked me in disbelief, “Little brother?”
I nodded sincerely.
He lowered his gaze, seemingly contemplating something. Then he said, “Why do you want me to be your little brother?”
“I’ve been abandoned by the tribe too. As you can see, I’m the bottom one,” my voice trembled slightly. “I just want to have a family, and we can help each other and survive together.”
Will smiled faintly, but there was no happiness in his eyes. Instead, a sense of sorrow permeated through. Did the word ‘family‘ hurt him?
I felt uneasy, but then Will asked a question that caught me off guard.
“After I live with you, what if your mate shows up?“.
He stared at me, his tone serious.

My face immediately turned pale, and I panicked. “I don’t have a mate! He’s dead!” I even felt my face contort with rage.
“He’s dead!”
I practically shouted those words, as the intense pain of rejection once again crawled under my skin.
Will was startled, but he just furrowed his brows. Curiously, he pressed on, “So, is he buried here too?”
I smiled wryly, thinking to myself, ‘he doesn’t deserve it!‘
However, seeing the puzzled expression on Will’s face, I took a deep breath and adjusted my emotions. I had no choice but to lie. “He won’t appear again. Let’s not mention him.”
Perhaps concerned about upsetting me, Will didn’t ask any more questions. But he was still contemplating and hesitating, and I anxiously awaited his answer. Finally, a smile bloomed on his face, and he blinked his innocent eyes, saying to me, “Katheryn, let’s go back home. I’m hungry.”
I was relieved. Thankfully, he didn’t pursue the matter of my mate. I looked at his body – he was still clad in tattered and blood–stained clothes.
—
“You need new clothes. I’ll buy some for you after dinner.”
Will tilted his head, “Katheryn, won’t you take me with you?”
“You smell like a rogue wolf, and I’m afraid the patrolling guards will find you.”
“Don’t worry, I can hide my scent so that no one will find out.”
I froze for a moment, feeling that I didn’t know enough about

Will’s power.
The night market was bustling. I took Will to a small stall and picked out a few cheap hooded jackets and some jeans for him. After he changed his clothes, he looked astonishingly handsome. A few female wolves nearby couldn’t help but giggle, constantly stealing glances at him and whispering among themselves. I tightened my scarf and hat.
“Do you like them?” I asked him.
“I love them.” Will put on the hat, looking even cooler. He glanced at me and asked, “Why do you wrap yourself up so tightly?”
I couldn’t tell him that I was a recently released murderer, right? I wanted to keep it from him a bit longer. So, I replied, “Because I’m really sensitive to the cold.”
He raised an eyebrow, with a slightly teasing expression on his face.
After we came out, a gust of cold wind blew, causing me to tremble slightly. I should have bought him thicker clothes. I grabbed Will’s hand, rubbed it, and asked if he was cold.
He shook his head and said he was not cold.
“But your hands are as cold as ice,” I said, then blew warm breath onto his hand a few times.
“Why are you so nice to me?” Will asked me suddenly, his eyes sparkling.
“Because you’re my little brother now. I don’t have any family, and you’re my only family,” I looked at him sincerely, while

thinking in my heart, ‘You’re also my new ally, a crucial part of my revenge plan.
Will paused for a moment, then smiled slowly. He pulled me into.his arms and gave me a solid hug.
His embrace was so warm, and I couldn’t help but smile. We were like two abandoned souls in this world, and luckily we
found each other.
And so, we started living together.
The next day, when I came back from work, I saw another bouquet on the vase. He truly was a thoughtful and gentle boy.
But just after two days of this peaceful life, I received a call from my stepsister, Jessica. “Katheryn, Dad said he wants to sell your ruby ring. I had to beg him so hard to let me keep it for you. I want to give you the ring. Can you come over to my place?”
My heart sank. That ruby ring was the dowry from my mother and a precious heirloom.
“If you don’t come, I’m afraid I might lose the ring,” Jessica’s voice softened, then she quickly gave me the address of a bar and ended the call without waiting for my response.
I stared at the phone in my hand, well aware that Jessica wouldn’t ask for the ring without a hidden motive. But that ring was the only thing left by my mother, and I had to get it back!
