He’s My Alpha by Cassandra M Chapter 36

He’s My Alpha by Cassandra M (Jake & Clair)

Chapter 36

CLAIR

As soon as I woke up this morning, I cornered Dad before he could leave for work.

I wanted to know more about him and Mom’s family. I didn’t tell him the conversation around it at Jake’s party, and just told him I wanted to know out of curiosity.

And this was what I found out.

Dad belonged to an Alpha family. Uncle Theodore was the firstborn Alpha son and was supposed to be the next Alpha of the Dark Forest Pack, but

unfortunately, their pack was attacked while Dad and Uncle Thedorore were away. The then Alpha, Carlos Montrell, my grandfather, died on the spot, and the new Alpha took over.

It was the reason Dad and Uncle Theodore were taken by another pack, but eventually, Uncle Theo decided to live with humans when his fated mate turned out to be a human, Aunt Laura.

My mom, Camilla, on the other hand, was the eldest daughter of the famous Alpha Thaddeus of the Night Howlers Pack. My mother was supposed to be the chosen mate for Alpha Argon. So, my mother was sent to the Claiming, for Alpha Argon to formally claim her.

Fortunately for my parents, my dad was also there. He was among the men escorting his then-new Alpha to the event. And because Mom and Dad were fated mates. Alpha Thaddeus was not able to do anything but let her go with her mate.

But Alpha Thaddeus wasn’t happy. He wanted his daughter back and tried everything to take her back, which f*orc*ed my parents to leave my father’s new pack and move somewhere they would not be found. That was where Jake’s mom came into the picture.

She was good friends with my mom, and she offered for them to stay here. So the then-Alpha Thelon, Jake’s grandfather, took them in and concealed their identity. Their identities were hidden until Aaron was born. By that time, my grandfather gave up on his quest to reclaim his daughter.

But when my mother died from an attack on another pack she visited, Alpha Thaddeus was informed, and he requested to meet with my father through Alpha Jake.

My father knew how important it was for Alpha Thaddeus to build alliances with other packs by marrying off his nieces to other Alphas, and he was bothered that he might find out about me.

So, before he finally met him, he sent me away to live with my uncle when I was twelve. He sent me away not because he didn’t want me around. He did it to protect me from my grandfather. He was afraid that Alpha Thaddeus would use his power to take me and marry me off to some Alpha when I reached legal age.

Alpha Jake, knowing all this, commanded everyone in the pack not to discuss anything about me while they were visiting. Dad and Aaron moved to the pack house and pretended they were living there to avoid any traces and scents of me. They had to pretend that Clair Montrell did not exist at all.

Now I know why Alpha Aeon thought my mother only had one kid because my identity was protected.

Jake revealing my identity bothered me, but Dad a*s*suaged my fears by telling me that Alpha Thaddeus died when I was sixteen, and that was when they asked me to return home, only for me to refuse.

So, I guess I am safe now.

A part of me was relieved to find out that I was not thrown out of the territory because nobody cared about me, including Jake. Everyone held on to their part to protect me. I only wish that I knew beforehand, so I didn’t grow up resenting my father and thinking I was not loved by anyone from this pack.

But it was pointless to complain about it now.

The revelation answered all my questions as to why I was destined to mate with an Alpha – a strong one because I have an Alpha bloodline on both sides.

I didn’t see Jake the whole day after his party last night. Apparently, his Beta created a schedule where he got to spend some time with the females that were possible matches for him. It didn’t sit well with me. I was restless for the whole day, but what happened tonight pushed me to my limits.

I was with my dad, watching TV when the pain hit my chest. It was a burning pain, and red marks started to appear on my wrists.

It wasn’t unbearable, I managed. The pain lasted for probably ten to twenty seconds, but the mark remained on my skin. I was confused about what happened, but I just tried to shrug it off until I saw the panicked look on my father’s face.

He asked me if I had been formally rejected by my mate, and I was f*orc*ed to confess that there was no rejection. I just left because he didn’t want me.

His gaze turned soft, and he pulled me into a hug. He explained in a calm manner that as long as the bond remained, I would feel it whenever my mate touched another female intimately.

He mentioned it was probably just a kiss because it didn’t last long and I had to prepare for the worst when the real coupling happened.

He offered to drive me to meet up with my mate if I knew where to reach him so we could do the formal rejection, but I didn’t hear the rest of his words. I stood up from the couch and told him I just wanted to let my wolf out for a while and was glad that he didn’t stop me at all.

But I didn’t shift. I ran on my feet until I found myself at the pack house. I went directly inside, ignoring some of the warriors along the way as I made my way towards the Alpha’s office. I opened the door and slammed it shut to find Beta Gavin seated in Jake’s chair.

“Clair!” I can see he was shocked by my behavior but tried to act civilly toward me. Being Aaron’s sister has a perk – they let me get away with the disrespect sometimes. “Is everything alright?” He asked.

“Where is your Alpha?” I snapped at him.

“Of course, him! Do you have another Alpha here?”

He scratched his head before answering. “He’s not yet here. Is there anything I can do for you?”

“Yes. I want to have time with him.”

“What do you mean? You can just drop here tomorrow and talk with him.”

“No, not like that! He’s probably out having dinner with some females, and I don’t understand why I didn’t get any time to spend with him!” My voice was still slightly higher than usual.

“Whoah! Relax! I didn’t know you wanted one.” He raised his brow and looked at me as if I was confusing him.

“Now you know, give me a schedule,” I demanded, crossing my arms over my chest.

“He’s full for tomorrow, maybe Friday?” He picked up a pen and started to turn the pages of a calendar sitting on Jake’s desk.

I put my hand over the calendar in front of him, stopping him from writing my name on the Friday schedule. “No. Tomorrow will be good.”

“I can’t. I told you his schedule is full tomorrow.” He squinted his eyes as he looked up at me. I could see annoyance brewing in his features.

I slammed my palms on the desk and leaned my face closer to his, my eyes fixed on his. “Listen Beta, I still haven’t forgotten that you annoyed me last time. And I was still nice to you, but you don’t want to cross me one more time because I will not let you get away so easily this time.” I stood up straight and raised my eyebrows at him. “Eight in the morning tomorrow. It’s my time.”

“No, Clair. The Alpha needs to meet the warriors for deb….” He tried to explain before I cut him off.

“To hell with his schedules! If I come here at eight tomorrow morning and he’s not ready for me, you will face my wrath! I’m not kidding. I will snap the life out of you… or I’ll die trying.” I told him, my eyes narrowing at him before I turned on my heel and walked away. I knew I was nothing compared to the Beta, but it was worth a try.
