The Amnesic Genius Ex-wife Chapter 62

Chapter 62 I’ve Exhausted My Patience
In the living room, Radley noticed that Freya would become more talkative whenever they talked about work. From her words, he could catch a glimpse of her true self.
As they discussed future plans for West Geft, Radley occasionally asked for Freya’s opinion indifferently. She answered each question thoughtfully, and the distance between them appeared to have lessened.
Radley gazed at Freya as it was for the first time that he felt their ideas were so in tune. Many of their renovation ideas were coincidentally similar.
His gazes deepened while a strange feeling arose in his heart as if tiny vines were growing from his heart. and making his throat itch.
On the sofa, Freya frowned. “The West Geft’s ancient clock tower dates back to the Industrial Revolution and holds significant historical and cultural value. I intend to restore it, but it has numerous tenon-mortise structures that require skilled craftsmanship. We need to find a proficient artisan for the job.”
Radley withdrew his deep gaze. “The Monaghan Group previously collaborated with a tenon-mortise master. Maybe we can show him the blueprints this time.”
Since Freya had always been interested in the tenon-mortise aspect, she became excited. “A tenon-mortise master? Can you introduce this master to me?”
While she became excited, her face shone with radiance. Radley stood up. “Let’s go to the study. His contact information is there.”
As Freya was eager to meet the tenon-mortise master, she immediately followed him.
Upon entering Radley’s study on the second floor of the Monaghans’ mansion, Freya was stunned.
Is this really a study? It looks more like a private library to me, she wondered.
The spacious study spanned over a hundred square meters with a ceiling height of seven to eight meters. Bookshelves lined all four walls, and a grand window overlooking the sunset stood at the entrance. In front of the window sat a minimalist desk, clean and organized.
“You have a nice study.” Freya complimented.
Radley gave her a silent glance as she was the one who redesigned the furnishings in the study, but she didn’t seem to remember.
“Please have a seat.”
As the two of them sat at the desk, Radley took a booklet from the drawer and began to flip through it.
“Wouldn’t it be faster to ask Connor directly? Doesn’t he have the master’s contact information?” Freya suggested.
Radley retrieved a paper from the booklet and stated, “Unfortunately, the master is known for having a peculiar temperament and doesn’t have any contact information. All we have is an address where he can receive letters.”
The study was quiet. As Freya rested her chin on her hand, she smelled a familiar fragrance in the air.
She raised her eyebrows and walked toward a nearby herbal diffuser.
The herbal diffuser was an antique piece with an abstract green design resembling the shape of a turtle and carved hollow floral patterns on the shell.
She opened it, and the familiar scent became stronger.
Radley looked up. “Can you tell how the fragrance is blended?”
Freya nodded. “It’s a blend of fragrant woods, with agarwood as the major ingredient and dragon’s blood and cloves as secondary and supporting ingredients. These are then soaked for half a day in tulip petal juice.”
Later, she picked up a small pair of tweezers on the side to have a look and smiled. “Indeed, there is also a layer of saffron on the spacer.”
Radley suddenly realized. Now I understand why the Smalzot Yard butler mentioned that the fragrances were the same but had different scents.
He narrowed his eyes as he realized the process of making herbal sachets using ancient methods required extensive knowledge. Even in the past, only affluent and influential young ladies had the privilege of learning such skills.
He also understood that many of these methods had been lost in modern times, yet Freya seemed to comprehend them thoroughly. She could explain it perfectly with just a breath of a scent.
“These herbal sachets are designed to improve the quality of your sleep and reduce the frequency of dreams at night, Freya explained with a smile. “The creator of this sachet was very meticulous and a skilled perfumer. The making of these also considers the natural cycles, zodiac signs, and interplay of various natural elements…”
Interested, she carefully examined the grinding of the spices while explaining casually.
Radley’s eyes were fixed on Freya as her firm, indifferent words flowed into his ears while she brought at sense of calmness to his heart. All he could see and hear was Freya and her voice.
Radley knew that while making herbal sachets might appear simple, it was a craft that became progressively sophisticated the deeper one dived into its studies.
“According to traditional wisdom, certain herbs possess unique properties that influence various parts of the body, and agarwood is known to have less dryness compared to sandalwood. By selecting the right. complementary ingredients, a balanced blend that promotes overall physical and mental well-being cant
be made.”
Freya turned to Radley with her black pupils shining. This perfumer seems to have a deep understanding of your body condition, and their patience in crafting this herbal sachet is truly remarkable. Can you introduce me to them?”
Radley’s Adam’s apple bobbed as his voice deepened. “You know this person.”
“I do?” Freya was surprised.
Radley shifted his gaze away. “It was you who made it.
Freya was stunned as she realized that she had just praised herself quite a bit and even implied that she was very attentive to Radley’s needs as a perfumer.
Embarrassed, she coughed awkwardly.
Most importantly… she silently turned her head to look at the herbal diffuser and wondered how she had been patient when creating the herbal sachets.
She couldn’t help but wonder about her mentality during the two years of her memory loss, as she never thought she could make herbal sachets so patiently.
Before Freya could finish her thoughts, Radley spoke. “Actually, I’ve been using the herbal sachets you made for the past two years. They’ve been really effective in treating my insomnia.”
Freya smiled awkwardly. “Well… you’re welcome.”
“Can you continue making these herbal sachets for me? Radley’s expression was serious. “I’m willing to pay for it.”
Freya shook her head. “I don’t have the patience for it now.”
Radley felt a sharp pain in his heart as if he had been pricked by a needle.
She settled back into her seat at the table. “But I can provide you detailed instructions on how to make it. Then you can find another perfumer to make it.”
“Forget it. Others may not be able to make it the same way.” Radley handed her that tenon-mortise master’s address.
After Freya took it. Freya still felt a little embarrassed. “Grandma should be awake by now. I should go
check on her.”
She turned around to leave while Radley calmly followed behind her.
Just as they reached the study’s door, with Freya still feeling embarrassed about the previous situation, the door was suddenly pushed open with great force.
Lost in thought, Freya didn’t have enough time to react ind was knocked sideways, causing her to fall backward.
Freya was taken aback and found herself struggling to maintain her balance, so she instinctively protected. her stomach.
Gritting her teeth, she prepared to withstand the impact when a strong arm tightly wrapped around her
waist.
Radley held her with one hand and quickly supported her shoulder with the other, bringing her back to balance.
The two were very close, and Freya’s face was against his chest.
“Th-thank you.”
As she lifted her head, she felt their breaths mingle.
Freya’s heart skipped a beat as she looked up at Radley’s mesmerizing face up close.
Regaining her composure, she spoke calmly. “I’m fine now. You can let go of me.
Radley’s grip on Freya’s shoulder tightened for a moment, as he found himself unexpectedly reluctant to release her.
Before either of them could react, Freya heard a scream from the door.
Frowning, she turned around and saw Danna rushing in with a fierce expression.
“I knew it, Freya! You were trying to seduce Radley!”
Freya was speechless upon hearing Danna’s accusation.
