My Rich Hot and Infertile (Or Maybe Not) Husband Chapter 370

Chapter 370
Seeing that he couldn’t hide it anymore, Sean hesitated before saying, “The director has run out of money. She can’t even pay the cook’s salary, so the cook had to quit. A few days ago, I heard the director discussing with Professor Torres about selling her house.”
Celeste frowned, “The bank sends money every month on time, how could there be no money?”
Caitlyn had set up a dedicated account to connect with the orphanage and had been transferring money in on time every month for many years. The orphanage wasn’t big and hadn’t taken in any new children in recent years. With the director and the others included, there were fewer than twenty people in total.
With $50,000 transferred each month by Caitlyn, it should have been enough to support the small orphanage’s operations.
Sean closed his mouth and said, “Aunt Caitlyn’s donations stopped last October.”
Celeste’s face changed, “Stopped? What do you mean?”
Sean didn’t know much either. He overheard the director and Professor Torres talking by chance, and it was only then that he found out that the Campbell family’s donations had stopped since last October.
The funding that the orphanage could receive from society was limited, and it mainly relied on the Campbell family’s donations. So when the donations stopped, the orphanage soon fell into financial trouble.
At first, the old director thought there was a problem with the Campbell family and that they had forgotten about us. But after waiting for three months and with still no money coming in, she vaguely sensed something was wrong. She then consulted with Professor Torres and planned to go to the Campbell family to ask about the situation.
It happened to be summer vacation, and Sean secretly followed them.
It was a hot August day. The old director and Professor Torres waited outside the house for more than three hours, but Shawn Campbell never showed up.
It wasn’t until the sun was setting that Angel came out, but she was there to send them away.
She said the company was facing difficulties and couldn’t continue to support the orphanage. She also mentioned Caitlyn’s illness, saying that they had spent a lot of money on it over the years and had done their utmost.
Sean’s account was quite gentle, but the actual situation was even worse than he described.
Angel had said that taking care of a useless person like Caitlyn was enough, and they didn’t need to take care of a bunch of worthless people. It was Caitlyn’s promise, so let her fulfill it. Why should it involve the Campbell family?
The old director was furious when she heard this. Overcome with heatstroke, she returned to the orphanage and lay in bed for three days before
recovering.
So this is why Sean can’t stand Angel.
He went to work as a waiter at the Azure Club, not only to escape from that school thing but also to make some extra cash to help out the headmaster with the financial burden.
Still, Celeste was pretty shocked after hearing this.
The charity funds for the orphanage were deducted from Caitlyn’s company shares. What right did Shawn have to cut off this financial aid?
Sean reminded her, “The headmaster didn’t want me to tell you about this. She’s afraid you’ll get dragged into it and feel bad. You mustn’t tell her i told you.”
Celeste pressed her lips together and whispered, “I’ll keep that in mind.”
When they got to the orphanage, the old headmaster was very pleased to see Celeste. Sean took the kids to distribute gifts while the headmaster chatted with Celeste.
The headmaster and Caitlyn had always been close, and she watched Celeste grow up from a young age. Whenever she saw Celeste, it would remind her of Caitlyn, and they’d talk about the past with nostalgia. The headmaster also asked about Caitlyn’s well-being.
“My mom’s doing well,. But the doctor says she’s shown some improvement lately.”
After hearing this, the headmaster joyfully said, “Good people get good karma. Your mother has helped so many people, and the heavens will surely notice.”
Celeste nodded and suddenly remembered something, “Headmaster, did my mom ever ask you to keep something safe for her?* The headmaster thought for a moment and replied, “Yes,”
“What was it?” asked Celeste.
