Chapter 88 Protecting Her
After playing cards for a few hours, the group stretched and went for a stroll in the backyard of the
mansion.
The backyard of the Monaghans mansion was situated by a mountain and a large and beautiful man-
made lake.
Freya took a stroll and her mood brightened in the natural environment.
Radley had been following her from behind in a leisurely and unhurried manner, while Chris and Mikael were far behind.
Hannah lived in the mansion and had already grown tired of the scenery in the backyard. She lazily followed the two men.
“Chris, I can’t walk anymore. Please inform my brother for me. I’ll go back to the house first.”
Chris responded and then asked Hannah, “Hannah, has your brother mentioned anything to you about his relationship with Freya?”
Hannah clenched her teeth. “He just said to mind my own business and focus on my studies.”
Mikael was on the side, watching the backs of Freya and Radley. “So do you like Danna or Freya as your sister-in-law?”
“Danna?” Hannah scoffed. “Is she even qualified?”
Mikael laughed. “This means you like Freya
Hannah didn’t confirm or deny, and her face tensed up as she snorted.
Chris and Mikael grew up with Radley, and Hannah was like their half-sister. They knew her difficult and proud personality well.
“I think your brother plans to bring Freya back. You can start thinking of ways to help him.”
Hannah’s gaze flickered as she stared at the two figures ahead.
She remembered that a wild boar had come down from the mountain recently and destroyed a flower bed.
The mansion’s protective net was old, and her grandmother wanted to renovate a section of forest and dig a trench surrounding the backyard.
Recently, only staff were allowed in that area.
After thinking about it, Hannah smiled. “Chris, Mick, let’s go back. Give them space.”
As Freya and Radley walked, neither spoke.
The path was quiet, with each step revealing a new scene.
When they passed by a signboard, Freya stopped.
They were now at the foot of the mountain, and she looked up at the mountain. “This mountain is so
beautiful. It’s a shame it’s already afternoon. Otherwise, she would have climbed up to see the sunset.
Radley walked over to her. “There’s a small building on top of the mountain. If we go up now, we can see the sunset. There’s a cable car that can take us up there.
Freya thought about it and rubbed her belly.
For the safety of the baby, she decided against it.
Just as they were about to turn back, Freya slipped and stumbled forward.
Radley steadied her and he hugged her in his arms.
Freya was protected in his embrace, her face pressed against his chest, and she could hear his strong heartbeat.
After a few seconds, she said, “Thank you.”
Radley smiled lightly. “You aren’t walking on a steep surface, are you?”
“I know, but it’s weird. There is something in the grass. Freya frowned and picked up a trap in the grass with sawtooth blades glinting.
Ereya was speechless for a moment.
“Radley, is your family afraid of thieves? Why would you put something so dangerous like this in the garden?”
She had been wandering just now and didn’t use the small path. Now, she had gone deep into the lawn, which had not been tended for a long time and had weeds taller than her ankles.
Radley frowned. “This is a trap to catch animals. I don’t know if there are any more.”
Freya looked at the nearest path, which was a few hundred meters away.
She clicked her tongue and asked, “So what do we do now? Take one step at a time through the grass?”
“Come here and don’t move.”
“Why?” Radley pulled Freya towards him.
Freya was taken aback as Radley bent down and lifted her with one hand on her knee joint.
Her heart skipped a beat and she struggled to get down. “I don’t need you to carry me…
“Be careful. I’ll put you down when we get to the side of the road.” Radley’s voice was cold, and his face remained unchanged.
Freya felt a bit embarrassed by the way she was being carried. It wasn’t a bridal type of carry, but rather like holding a child. She was half-sitting on his arm.
“You have strong arms.” She coughed and changed the subject.
Radley smirked slightly. “Yes, I work out often.”
Freya fell silent.
Radley held her and scanned the grass with his sharp eyes,
The grass wasn’t too high, and upon closer inspection, one could still see the traps among the grass.
When they reached the side of the road, he put her down steadily.
Freya’s face was no longer indifferent, and she smiled awkwardly. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
The two of them returned to the house. Daniella had already gotten up and was talking to Chris and Mikael in the living room, while Hannah sat beside them.
Chris was the dandy of Vroria. He was very good at talking and made Daniella laugh nonstop. She liked him a lot indeed.
Mikael sat next to him, with the gentle and elegant demeanor of a nobleman.
When Radley and Freya came back, Daniella waved at them.
“Freya is back. Come over here.”
“Grandma, Freya said obediently.
When Daniella heard that Radley and Freya were alone in the backyard, she was in a good mood. When she saw the lipstick mark on Radley’s shirt, she was even happier.
“You guys can chat. I’ll go to the kitchen and take a look. She walked away with lighter steps.
Radley sat down. Chris and Mikael’s eyes fell on his chest.
It was only then that Freya noticed something was wrong. She looked at Radley and saw a red lipstick mark on his chest.
It must have been when she was almost caught in the trap and inadvertently left the mark when Radley. pulled her away.
Freya fell silent.
Mikael smiled faintly, while Chris leaned closer to Radley and whispered, “What’s up with your chest? Did Miss Kaufmann try to assault you but couldn’t reach your face, so she settled for the next best thing?”
As soon as he finished speaking, he heard a crisp sound of bones cracking
He turned around and saw Freya sitting down across from him and lightly cracking her knuckles.
Chris sat up straight silently, looking like a gentleman.
Radley’s face remained indifferent, seeming disdainful of Chris’ dirty mind.
As they chatted, Hannah looked at the time. “Mom will be back soon…”
As she spoke, she glanced at Freya.
Rosie didn’t like Freya, and everyone in the Monaghans knew it.
