Chapter 52 Becoming Her Business Partner
After sending Edward back to Evergreen University, Freya returned home.
The next morning, she got up early and went to the Kaufmann Group. In the afternoon, she had to go to the Joint Department in West Geft. Freya planned to finish all the company’s daily affairs in the morning before going there.
She was busy with Ayden for the entire morning. After they had a meeting, it was already time for lunch.
Freya called the director of Caltun General Hospital, Ethan Griffiths, and explained that she had been too busy these past few days to visit her brother at the hospital.
After hearing that Braxton’s recovery was progressing well, she was relieved.
“Professor Harlan, you requested Jamie Fraser’s medical records last time. How is the research going?” The director’s voice was hesitant but hopeful.
Freya had studied Jamie’s case, and his condition was still unstable at the moment. There was still a possibility of changes in the cerebral hemorrhage.
“Let’s talk about it later and see how things go for a while,” she replied.
The best option was to wait until the condition stabilized before performing surgery.
Freya didn’t tell Edward about the plan to perform surgery on Jamie. In addition to being preoccupied with project matters, she was also pregnant at the same time. Hence, it would be the best time for surgery in a few months.
After hanging up the phone, Freya had lunch and left Ayden in charge of the company before driving alone to West Geft.
The streets of West Geft were complicated. By the time she arrived, it was already 2 p.m.
The Joint Department used to be a shopping mall that had been renovated. As it was newly established, there was still no signboard.
After entering, Freya saw people from various departments, separated by glass partitions that were set up temporarily.
As she looked around for a while, she saw Connor walking out from inside.
“Miss Kaufmann, there you are. Mr. Monaghan is already waiting for you,” he greeted.
Walking through the corridor with glass offices on both sides, she arrived at the innermost area where there were two offices.
“The one on the right is yours, and Mr. Monaghan usually stays on the left, but he’s waiting for you right -now,” Connor introduced.
Seeing the transparent glass, Freya frowned and asked, “Did you all not consider privacy issues when setting up the partitions?”
The space between the two offices was made of glass, so she would be exposed to Radley’s sight if she wanted to take a break.
She couldn’t believe that they didn’t consider privacy when designing this office space. Therefore, she decided to ask Ayden to buy a big screen to cover up the middle area the next day.
Following Connor, she entered Radley’s office. In the center of his office was a big table.
Radley was leaning over the table while looking at a map with his hand resting on the table. His rolled-up sleeves revealed his toned muscles.
With his dark eyes focused on the map, he was slightly leaning forward.
“Miss Kaufmann is here, sir”
As he turned his head, Freya was secretly stunned by his handsome appearance. He really has a strong impact with his good looks.
“You’re finally here,” he said.
“Yeah, is there a problem?”
Freya walked up to the table and looked at the large map of the West Geft on it. It was a large-scale topographical map, much more detailed than those available on the market, with even the smalles altitude heights noted.
Radley pointed to a spot on the map and said, “This was originally planned as the site for a new scho but the surveyors didn’t realize that there was an ancient building there. It has caused some complicat and I wish to hear your opinion.”
Freya crossed her arms and stared at the map for a moment. “What kind of ancient building is it?”
Immediately, Connor stepped forward to report the situation. It was an ancient residence of a poet from the Miller family, who was not particularly renowned in the long history, but it held a distinct significance for Caltun.
Freya squinted and became focused. This is a bit troublesome.”
After negotiations between Radley and Freya, they both agreed to build a school on that piece of land. Freya focused her thoughts for a moment before suggesting. “What about we just renovate this ancient residence and preserve it as part of the school?”
Radley fell into deep thought and responded,” The school may need to be expanded on its original design basis.”
The two of them were so engrossed in the conversation that they did not realize they were getting closer as they examined the site for the school.
“It shouldn’t be a problem to expand it a bit,” Freya pondered for a moment and said as she looked up.
The woody scent from Radley’s body rushed into her nose as her nose almost brushed against his chest.
Radley was slightly surprised as well, and his heart thumped.
Both of their faces were so close as they looked at each other, one looking down and the other looking up.
He could almost see the fuzz on Freya’s face and her burning eyes.
Both of them were startled for a moment, and Freya was the first to react. She took a step back and
whispered, “Sorry, I got carried away.”
As the distance pulled away, Radley’s eyes slightly deepened.
“It’s okay.” His voice carried an inexplicable emotion.
After deciding to incorporate the Millers’ ancient residence into the school, Freya returned to her own
office.
While she was here to supervise, there was not much work to be done. She just needed to check in on the progress reports from time to time.
When she returned to her office, she called upon Ayden. She had originally planned to set up a screen, but then she found it too troublesome. Therefore, she asked Ayden to send over some frosted glass stickers.
To avoid standing out, she instructed for all the lower halves of the Joint Department’s partition glass to be covered with the stickers.
At 5 p.m., Radley observed the workers using frosted glass stickers to gradually block his view in the adjacent office.
His expression became gloomy.
Connor spoke up beside him. “Mr. Monaghan-
Radley frowned. He invited Freya to come to the Joint Department partly to figure out why he was inexplicably interested in her.
Having been successful in the business world, he understood the significance of understanding oneself and the opponent. Therefore, he made the decision to approach Freya in order to carefully analyze her.
However, his mood was inexplicably disturbed again.
Radley turned his head and looked at Connor next to him. “What’s the matter?”
“Miss Delgado’s assistant made a call just now and informed you that Miss Delgado had a heart attack and has been admitted to the hospital. She has requested your visit.”
Radley’s expression turned colder. He had just broken up with Danna yesterday, and today she was hospitalized due to her heart attack.
He picked up his phone and glanced at it. Danna knew that he didn’t like being disturbed by phone calls, but she had sent dozens of messages yesterday.
“Do you want to visit her, sir?” Connor asked.
“No,” he replied calmly. Danna might “recover” faster without him going to visit her.
When it was time to get off work, Freya left the Joint Department.
Just a few minutes after she left, Radley also left with Connor with a cold expression on his face.
In the Department of Cardiology of Caltun General Hospital….
Danna was sitting on the hospital bed, with her assistant standing next to her. “Miss Danna, it’s almost time for your infusion. Do you want to go to the restroom first?”
“What’s the point of getting the infusion if Radley hasn’t even come to see me?!” Danna shouted angrily. “What did you tell him? Why isn’t he coming to see me yet?”
Her assistant was getting flustered, and her voice grew weaker. “I called his assistant, and he told me that Mr. Monaghan has been busy lately and has no time-
“Busy?!” Danna bit her lip tightly. This is clearly an excuse!
“Recently, the Monaghan Group and the Kaufmann Group are planning to renovate the West Geft together. Mr. Monaghan is probably busy with that,” her assistant whispered.
The Kaufmanns again! It must be Freya coming up with some tricks to seduce Radley. I didn’t know that b*tch has such tricks up her sleeve!”
Danna tightly grasped the blanket and continued, “No way. I can’t just sit here doing nothing. I need to leave the hospital right now!”
“But you just checked in here last night.”
“What did you just say?” Danna’s face turned cold.
Her assistant’s voice became smaller. “I-I will arrange for your discharge.”
“No, get the driver to pick me up right now. You can take care of the discharge procedures later, Danna snapped.
After that, she walked out of the hospital ward and made her way to the front entrance where people. occasionally recognized her along the way.
“Isn’t that Danna Delgado, the celebrity? It looks like her!”
“Ah, that angelic b*tch!”
O
