Chapter 141 Radley Is Injured
Freya and Brisa took turns exerting all their strength to break the window, exhausting themselves until they finally smashed it.
People inside the bus immediately swam out through the shattered window.
As Freya breathed a sigh of relief and was about to swim back to the surface for air, she felt someone grab
her foot!
A man, who appeared to be unable to swim, grabbed Freya’s ankle with a terrified and desperate expression and was pulling her downward with all his strength.
He was trying to step on her to save himself!–
Freya was supposed to swim up for air, but being pulled like this made her face immediately turn red from suffocation.
The man held onto her leg desperately and refused to let go as if clinging to the last straw of life.
There weren’t many passengers on the bus who could swim, and while Freya struggled to break free from the man, she suddenly felt a sharp pain in her hair underwater.
-She turned her head and came face to face with a woman’s wide–open eyes at close range!
In the water at night, Freya felt that everything in front of her became murky.
The bubbles released by non–swimmers struggling and the water turbulence made it impossible for her to
rescue anyone.
Freya felt that she might die underwater.
She opened her mouth as she couldn’t hold back the air anymore and exhaled a series of bubbles.
The water’s surface seemed to be getting further and further away while the moonlight gradually grew dimmer.
As Freya’s vision blurred, she wondered if she was going to die.
Amid the blur, many images flashed through her mind.
Under the realization that she still had many things to do, Freya thought about how Jamie should have recovered by now and the plans she and her brother had made to celebrate their grandmother’s birthday together in Vroria next month…
Many tasks in West Geft had not been arranged yet…
As her mind raced with thoughts of many people and things, it finally stopped at Radley.
His face appeared incredibly vivid in her mind at the moment.
Freya felt a bit dazed and wondered why she would think of him at a time like this.
Meanwhile, the water surface was broken open not far away, and a figure swam toward her from a
distance.
With blurred vision, she choked on water and felt a sense of familiarity despite being unable to see the person’s appearance clearly until that person grabbed her arm.
That person pressed warm lips against hers to breathe life into her.
When Radley came out to chase Freya, he heard that a car had crashed into the water.
The moment he spotted Brisa on the shore, he leaped into the water without hesitation.
His heart clenched when he saw Freya slowly sinking into the water.
The two individuals, who were holding onto Freya and couldn’t swim, were now unable to hold their breath any longer. They had released their grip and were sinking downward.
Freya looked semi–conscious with empty eyes looking up at the water’s surface.
Radley swam over and grabbed her waist to carry her toward the shore.
As they resurfaced, she opened her eyes wide.
Radley pressed his lips against hers and breathed life into her once more.
As Freya met his deep gaze, she remained confused due to the illusions that had taken hold of her while suffocating.
Looking at Radley, Freya bitterly smiled inwardly. She couldn’t help but wonder if she still truly loved him deep down in her subconscious. After all, why would she be fantasizing about being in his embrace at the very last moment before death?
Voices from the people on the shore reached them.
Radley’s voice was tinged with panic. “Freya! Wake up!”
Freya opened her eyes wide and looked at Radley for a while before looking at the moon above her head,
By now, numerous passersby had jumped into the river to rescue those in need.
The people from the bus were being rescued one by one, and Radley swam toward the shore with Freya in
tow.
When they finally reached the shore, he still held Freya tightly.
Freya had just escaped death, so her face was extremely pale.
Brisa ran over from not far away.
“Freya, are you okay? You made me worried!”
Brisa had already jumped into the water three or four times, but she still couldn’t find Freya. She was almost desperate!
Freya also calmed down by now and replied hoarsely, “I was pulled by someone who was drowning just
now.”
Thinking of this, she felt a surge of fear and instinctively raised her hand to touch her abdomen. After going through all that, she couldn’t help but wonder about the condition of her baby.
Radley noticed her gesture. “I’ll take you to the hospital.
“No need.”
Before she could finish speaking, Radley had already picked her up horizontally.
Freya instinctively held onto his neck, and her gaze fell on Radley’s face as she remembered the gasping for air she had experienced in the water earlier.
Flustered, she silently averted her gaze.
“Thank you, Radley.”
If it weren’t for his timely rescue, she would have already drowned in the water by now.
All the grudges and grievances of the past were completely resolved in an instant for Freya, and now she felt a faint sense of gratitude toward Radley.
What’s the point of all those grudges when my life is at stake? she thought.
Just as the two reached the shore, a sudden red light fell on Freya’s arm.
She was slightly startled. “A laser pointer?”
The next second, Radley’s expression turned cold as he quickly shifted to avoid the light with Freya in his
arms.
A faint puff sounded in Freya’s ears.
Immediately, warm blood splattered on her face.
She widened her eyes and looked at the blood that appeared on Radley’s left chest.
The clothes on the left side of his chest were torn apart. It turned out to be a targeting device instead of a laser pen!
Brisa, who had rushed over, immediately became vigilant and scanned the direction of the bullets. There were only a few tall buildings nearby and even fewer within shooting distance.
Her gaze swiftly swept across her surroundings and settled on a residential building not far away.
“Get in my car!” Radley gritted his teeth.
His car had been modified to be bulletproof.
Brisa dashed toward the car as the red dot of the laser sight once again appeared near Radley and Freya. He quickly covered Freya’s head and enveloped her in his embrace.
As he took a big step to the side and moved rapidly, the blood from his chest continued to flow profusely.
Freya’s heart trembled. “Radley! Put me down!”
Two more shots rang out and hit Radley’s arms. The air was filled with the smell of blood.
Freya felt her heart being tightly squeezed by a giant hand, and it was difficult for her to breathe.
Fortunately, the car was not parked far away, and Brisa was quick in her actions. She swiftly opened the cam door, started the engine, and drove toward Freya’s location to stop.
As Radley carried Freya, he opened the car door and hastily placed her inside. He then slumped into the car, motionless.
Struggling, she dragged him into the car and closed the door.
Two muffled shots rang out in the back seat and stopped. It seemed that the assailant had realized that the car was bulletproof and had ceased their gunfire.
Brisa looked coldly at the nearby small residential building. “There’s no way to catch them now.”
Freya’s voice trembled. “Forget about it! Go to the hospital! Hurry!”
Radley apparently had exhausted all his strength protecting her as he helped her into the car, so he had lost consciousness.
Freya pressed tightly on his wound.
His hair was still damp from when he had gone into the water to save her earlier, and water droplets trickled down his cheeks which made his face look even paler.
