Chapter 4
At first, the group in the room was shocked by the two men’s murderous auras. But then they remembered who Jack was and started mocking him again.
“Wow, you really got the full act.”
“Yeah, he even got the subordinates.”
“Is he not scared of karma from lying so much?”
The group happily mocked Jack until the two men opened the suitcases. When the group saw what was inside, they were all floored.
The suitcase was filled to the brim with green bills.
There was nothing more convincing than two suitcases of cash.
There were definitely two million dollars in these two giant suitcases. The cash was right in front of them. How could they dare to call Jack a fake anymore?
“Holy shit! He really has money?”
“Didn’t you say he’s a rental boyfriend? Is this a fucking joke?”
The shock was written all over Blaine’s face too. “How can this be possible?” he thought. “There’s no way Jack can come up with all this cash at once!”
Jack smiled faintly, but the light in his eyes slowly turned cold. “Mr. Jones, let’s start now, shall we?”
“Start my ass!” Blaine felt extremely humiliated. With a sweep of his arm, he sent all the utensils and plates on the table to the floor!
He could not stand Jack’s lofty expression. Blaine rushed over to punch Jack. The next second, Blaine was pinned to the ground by the two men. They gave him a good beating.
The sudden plot twist scared everyone, including Olivia.
“Wh-what kind of company is this?” she thought inside.
Selena had planned on making fun of Olivia. To her surprise, she was the one getting embarrassed instead. She looked at Blaine, who was sprawled on the ground, and then at Jack, who looked calm. Selena wanted to find a rock to hide under.
Olivia had been better than her in every aspect of school. Selena had worked so hard to steal Blaine, but now Olivia had found an even better guy and beat Blaine up. It was no different than slapping Selena in the face!
Selena’s features twisted in anger. She clenched her fists, nails digging into the flesh. If possible, she really wanted to rip Olivia’s face apart.
Jack picked up a random handful of cash. He crossed his legs and sat primly like a proper king. “Good friends, who are willing to teach Mr. Jones how to bark like a dog?” he asked with softly parted lips. “Fifty-thousand dollars per bark.”
Some people stood up tentatively as soon as he finished speaking.
“Uh, Mr. Shaw, 50,000 dollars per bark. Are you serious about that?”
Jack ignored Blaine, who was howling in pain and continued to smile. “Of course.”
One man knelt on the ground and made a hesitant bark. “Woof!”
Jack was in a great mood. He pulled out five stacks of cash and tossed it before the man. “Can’t hear you.”
The man scooped the cash into his arms and barked more excitedly. “Woof woof!”
“Woah, he’s seriously giving away money? I’m going to do it! I’ll bark until he goes bankrupt.”
“Woof woof!”
“Woof woof woof…”
More and more people joined in. Dignity was not essential when they were being lured by money.
Humans should not give up money just for their dignity!
Also, the more people who did the same thing, the less embarrassing it felt.
Olivia stood on the side dumbly. She listened to the chorus of barks and cash flying through the air. She was utterly dazed.
What exactly had she rented for 2,000 dollars?
Jack grew too lazy to toss the cash. He kicked the two suitcases to the side and had his subordinates do the job.
The classmate reunion had turned into a barking contest. Each of them barked with all their might, fearing that someone else would take their money if they were too slow.
Olivia pulled on Jack’s arm. “Where did you get all the money?” she whispered.
“It’s the website’s money,” Jack replied matter-of-factly. “You have to pay for it.”
Olivia stiffened.
The next moment, she shot up and stared at Jack angrily. “You lie-”
“Shush.” Jack put a finger to his lips.
Olivia sensed that Selena was looking at her. She lowered her voice and squeezed out between her teeth, “I… How am I supposed to get this much money? I didn’t request this service at all!”
Jack laughed but did not reply. He stood up and walked over to Blaine.
Blaine was just about to climb up when a pair of shiny leather shoes appeared before his eyes. He looked up and saw Jack looming over and staring down at him.
“Mr. Jones, have you learned now?”
“A-aren’t you rented?” Blaine still could not believe it.
“This is not important.” Jack paused for a moment. “I heard that you are Olivia’s ex-boyfriend?”
Hearing this, Blaine could not help but say, “Yes! She’s the trash that I don’t want anymore. She’s a shallow gold-digger. Who knows how many men she’s slept with? Don’t you feel disgusted picking up trash that other people tossed out?”
The smile on Jack’s lips disappeared. A cold sneer replaced it.
He kicked, sending Blaine flying. Blaine smashed heavily against the wall and darted back to the ground. It took a long while before he could pull himself up. But just as he was about to climb up, Jack’s leather shoe stepped on his face.
The room fell silent instantly. Some frightened women screamed and ran straight out of the room.
Jack looked back at the people who had been barking earlier. His expression was grave, and his voice was cold. “Not barking anymore? Don’t want the money anymore?”
“Woof!”
The room grew lively again.
Blaine spat out a mouthful of blood and stared at Jack with hatred. “Do you know who my dad is?”
