Chapter 584
Chapter 584
Liam handed her his coat, “Put this on, and I go.”
Celeste thought to herself, it’s just her back showing, and Liam was acting as if he’d never seen a woman’s back before.
She took the coat impatiently and draped it over her shoulders, “Happy now?”
Only then was Liam satisfied, saying. “Ill be right back,” before leaving
Of course, not before shooting a waming glance at Skyler.
Skyler was fuming
Liam went over to Owen, took the new coat Owen had fetched and put it on, fastening the buttons as he instructed, “Keep an eye on her, don’t let anyone push her around.”
As soon as Liam left, Skyler glanced at Celeste, “I underestimated you. To have Liam this smitten.”
Celeste replied indifferently. “No need for the flattery, Mrs. Reed.”
Skyler lowered her voice, “Don’t get cocky. Celeste. From the moment you divorced Liam, forget about remarrying him. Even without your unclear status, just that you can’t have children, Sienna would never let you remarry Liam.”
Celeste looked at Skyler impassively. “It’s not like I’m interested in remarrying anyway. But even if I were, before that happens, I’d have to get Liam to kick you out of the Reed family first.”
Skyler chuckled, “Are you threatening me?”
Celeste answered, “Not a threat, a warning.”
Skyler didn’t hold a position at Quantum, so Celeste had plenty of ways to drive her out of the Reed family. She’d always respected Skyler as Liam’s mother, but now she didn’t think Skyler deserved that respect
Just as Skyler was about to respond, a clear and pleasant female voice came from behind, “Skyler.”
Skyler saw that it was Janis calling her and immediately smiled politely. “Janis, you’re here.”
Janis was standing next to Clair. The mother and daughter were about the same height and looked alike. Janis cared for herself well, so they looked like sisters than mother and daughter
Seeing Celeste, Janis hesitated momentarily before saying, “Ms. Campbell is here too.”
Celeste just nodded in acknowledgment.
For some reason, Celeste felt like Mrs. Garcia wasn’t as warm to her as she had been during their time at Cuisine Cascade.
“Clair had grown up and looked so much like you did when you were young,” Skyler said enthusiastically to them, seeming to have forgotten about Celeste.
Liam’s father and Hiram were classmates, so it wasn’t surprising that their wives knew each other.
Skyler was a big deal in J City, so seeing her being so polite to other ladies was rare.
And Mrs. Garcia turned out to be quite generous. She had already forgiven Kaylee for locking Clair in the bathroom.
Celeste remembered the birthday gift she had prepared. Seeing that no one was paying attention to her, she stepped aside and texted Trisha
“When will you get here?”
“Probably in about half an hour to forty minutes. I have so much stuff”
“Thanks for your hard work.”
“Just thinking about living at Grandview Heights with you, I suddenly don’t feel tired.”
Celeste smiled
