Chapter 582
Everyone had been whispering about Liam and Celeste’s divorce.
Not everyone was a Celeste fan, but the fact that Liam ditched her right after her mum passed away? Not cool, man.
Skyler used to brag about how she was the perfect mother–in–law. But now that her son’s divorced, she wasn’t even breaking a sweat. Instead, she was fighting over who gets to host the birthday party, this didn’t match the image she’s been selling, and it’s got people raising their eyebrows.
“Marriage is no cakewalk, and getting together in the first place is destiny. I always tell Liamn this. But that’s just us old folks talking. Kids these days are stubborn. Once they make up their mind, no one can change it. I might be able to talk to Liam, but if Celeste digs in her heels, even I can’t do anything. Guess we just weren’t meant to be.”
With that, she slyly shifted the blame onto Celeşte.
What she actually wanted to say was that she didn’t want them to split up, but Celeste asked for a divorce, and she couldn’t change her mind.
One lady said, “A bad–luck charm has no business entering a lucky family. I think the divorce is for the best. Celeste is pretty, but who knew she was an illegitimate child? Isn’t that tarnishing the Reed family’s name?”
“Thank God she asked for the divorce. If she clung to Liam, that would be a real mess.”
“Absolutely, it’s a blessing they’re not together anymore. With Liam’s status, he can definitely do better.”
“I heard someone saw Celeste at Cuisine Cascade. She seemed to be clinging to Liam.”
“Maybe she regrets the divorce after she learned about her illegitimate status?”
Skyler sighed, “Divorce is hard on a woman too. If you bump into her, be kind.
Mrs. Kelley chimed in, “Skyler is such a sweetheart.”
The ladies quickly changed the subject. “Skyler, your ring looks stunning!”
One lady spotted the seven–carat pink diamond on Skyler’s finger, which was auctioned off at Krista Fletcher’s jewelry show.
Skyler smiled, “Kaylee picked it out for me. A sweet gesture from my child. I thought it was nice, so I wear it for fun.”
Everyone felt a pang of envy. There’s a level up from rich and it’s super–rich.
Skyler’s outfit was worth a fortune, and what’s even more envy–inducing is that it’s not even the priciest one in her wardrobe.
That’s the difference.
As everyone was having a blast, someone said, “Why is Celeste here?”
All the ladies froze and turned their heads.
Celeste strutted in, wearing a purple yam–colored dress and a vintage French hairstyle.
A dazzling diamond necklace hung on her slender neck. Under the bright light, the necklace was even more eye–catching.
