Chapter 581
Celeste turned to look at him.
Liam then pulled out a very exquisite velvet box.
Just as Celeste was wondering what was inside, Liam opened the box.
Inside was a dazzling diamond necklace. Each diamond on it was at least one carat, tightly set together, one after another. The pendant was square, with countless small diamonds set around it and a square ruby in the middle.
Celeste was stunned by the necklace.
“How old is your grandmother? How is she going to wear this necklace?”
Liam frowned. “It’s not for grandma; it’s the gift you asked me for. Don’t you remember?”
Celeste was even more confused. “When did I ask you for a gift? Besides, with my taste, how could I possibly want such an ugly necklace?”
Liam said, “Did a dog chew your brain? Why is your memory always so bad!”
He had imagined how surprised and moved Celeste would be when she saw the necklace. But none of that happened.
She even called it ugly!
Liam wanted to pry open her head to see if it was filled with a straw!
Just as Celeste was about to argue, a vague memory suddenly resurfaced in her mind.
I’m not asking for much, a necklace with 108 rubies, each not less than one carat, and a platinum chain; the thicker, the better.
This necklace does seem to have 108 diamonds.
Liam had ordered a necklace, according to her offhand comment.
Celeste felt strange.
She suddenly thought Liam was silly. Who would use so many diamonds to make a necklace?
Celeste murmured, “Even if I said that, you didn’t have to do it, right? And you made it so ugly.”
Liam glared at her. “It’s ugly because you chose it to be!”
He took out the necklace and said, “Turn around.”
“I’m not wearing it,” Celeste rejected, “I’ll be laughed at if I go out with such an ugly necklace.”
Liam said, “Do you know how much this necklace is worth?” Celeste looked at him.
Liam said, “47 million.”
Celeste said, “Then I’ll wear it once.”
With that, she obediently turned around.
Liam chuckled, holding the necklace, and placed it around her slender neck.
Owen sighed in the front.
Mr. Reed knew Celeste well. She liked the most expensive things, not the best.
At the birthday party:
The guests were arriving one after another, and Valeria and Skyler were each entertaining the guests.
The two had quite a network in J City, but Skyler was slightly more popular today.
Because Liam was divorced, the ladies with marriageable daughters all took this opportunity to get closer to Skyler.
No matter what kind of person Skyler was, Liam, a handsome and scandal–free young man, was a model son–in–law in the minds of these high society ladies.
Mrs. Garber said to Skyler, “You look much better today. The last time I saw you, you looked quite unwell.”
Skyler said, “Liam just got divorced a while ago; you’re bummed about that, aren’t you?”
