Chapter 580
Liam turned to look at Nicolas,
“Go sit shotgun.”
Nicolas gave him a helpless look. “You think I sit in the back because it’s comfy? If I don’t take the back seat, Celeste will plaster herself against the window as soon as she gets in. She’d prefer to be a million miles from you!”
As he spoke, he tugged Liam towards him. “You take the middle.”
He tossed all the miscellaneous items, like bottled water, cushions, etc., from the back to the shotgun seat, then said to Owen, “Owen, get the door.”
Owen got the hint, unbuckled his seatbelt, and exited the car.
Having been by Liam’s side for years, Owen was always dazzled by Madame’s new looks.
She was gorgeous.
He seemed to understand why Mr. Reed was reluctant to bring his wife to public events.
A rare treasure like her was better kept for one’s enjoyment.
As Celeste approached, Owen greeted her with a smile. “Good evening, Madame.”
Celeste returned the smile politely. Owen chivalrously opened the car door for her.
“Please, Madame.”
As Celeste was about to step in, she saw Liam and Nicolas sitting side by side and paused.
Nicolas leaned against Liam, waving at her.
Celeste managed a smile, then turned to Owen. “I’ll sit in the front, Owen. The back looks a bit cramped.”
Liam…
Nicolas‘ jinx had come true.
Owen looked apologetic. “I’m sorry, Madame. The front seat is full of stuff, including a gift for Sienna–no room for anyone to sit. Plus, the sun visor is broken. The sun hasn’t set yet; it might damage your skin.”
Nicolas avoided Celeste’s gaze and gave Owen a thumbs up.
Upon seeing the front seat stuffed, Celeste turned to Liam, who had picked up his phone. “Get in.”
Seeing him nonchalant, Celeste gathered her skirt and got in.
Liam had wanted to be a gentleman and help her with her seatbelt. Only then did he realize her dress was conservative from the front, but the back was a revealing deep V–cut–half her back was exposed.
Liam frowned. “What are you wearing? Are you that broke?”
Celeste glanced at him. “What I wear is none of your business. Remember who you are, ex–husband!”
Liam was speechless. After a moment, he managed, “Aren’t you cold?”
Celeste replied indifferently, “Mr. Reed, are you cold because you’re old? I’m young, and I’m hot.”
Nicolas couldn’t help but laugh. He teased, “Old age can’t appreciate. Our generation understands each other better. I think you look stunning.”
“Mr. Francis, you’re the same age as me?” Didn’t he just celebrate his 30th birthday?
“Don’t I look like it?” Nicolas touched his face. “I just look more mature. I’m not old. If you don’t believe me, ask Liam.”
Liam glanced at him. “Well, if we’re counting by IQ, he’s definitely not old. He’s a few years old, tops.”
With Nicolas around, the car ride was anything but boring.
About half an hour later, they arrived at Ruby Lake.
Once Owen parked the car, Nicolas was the first to get out to take a call.
Just as Celeste was about to open the car door, Liam grabbed her wrist.
“Wait.”
