Chapter 573
“Let me do it,” Liam said, looking into the cabinet. ‘Is it the yellow one?
He easily reached it.
Being tall definitely had its advantages.
Celeste took the first–aid kit and found only alcohol, bandages, and cotton swabs but no medical tape.
The first aid kit at Trisha’s place was quite rudimentary and cheap.
The medications inside were all expired cold medicines, and there was nothing special.
The fact that they could find bandages and alcohol was purely due to Liam’s good luck.
She dipped a cotton swab in alcohol and bent down to clean his wound.
Celeste had a face mask on, so it was hard to see her expression clearly. But just the act of bending down made Liam feel content.
He winced after she swabbed the wound once,
Celeste glanced at him but didn’t say anything.
Liam pursed his lips. “Don’t you have softer cotton swabs?”
She said, “Do you think this is your place? You’re being picky? I was nice enough to let you in. If you’re uncomfortable, go back to your place!”
Liam shut his mouth.
After disinfecting the wound, Celeste held a bandage and pondered for a moment before placing two horizontally across the back of Liam’s hand, covering the burst wound perfectly.
Liam muttered, “The tape is sticking to the wound.”
“Oh,” said Celeste as she put away the first–aid kit. “It’s not my hand that’s hurt; just deal with it.”
It seemed as if she was about to write “impatient” on her face.
She packed up the first–aid kit. This time, Liam proactively took the kit and put it back in the cabinet.
When he turned around, Celeste had already gone to the bathroom to remove her face mask.
Liam sat on the sofa waiting for her, saw a book on the coffee table, and picked it up.
It was ‘The Little Prince‘.
The book seemed to have been flipped through countless times. A page marked with a highlighter read, “Cherish the opportunity to watch the sunrise with your loved one now; don’t wait until you’re old to regret it.”
When Celeste came out of the bathroom, she saw Liam engrossed in the book.
She stood at the entrance with a glass of water and asked, “What do you want?”
Liam closed the book. “You had a court case with Shawn today?”
Celeste laughed: “News travels fast. You must be glad you divorced me. If this had happened before the divorce, it would have made the headlines in J City, right? You would have been embarrassed along with me then.”
Liam frowned. “Do you think I care about that?”
Celeste nodded. “You don’t care. You didn’t even care about me, so why would you care about that?”
His remark made Liam very angry. He said, “If I didn’t care about you, would I keep coming to you, letting you hurt me over and over again, yet still finding it hard to leave? Celeste! Don’t you have a heart?”
Celeste said painfully, “I never asked you to come.”
Liam threw the book on the coffee table, stood up, and coldly walked away.
With an indifferent expression, he walked out. Celeste leaned against the entrance with her head drooping, not moving.
She heard the door being twisted from behind.
Then, the hand that wasn’t holding the cup was suddenly grabbed and raised above her head. Liam kissed her passionately, full of
anger.
