Chapter 570
As Celeste fumbled for her keys, she muttered, “With good pay comes high expectations. Is there such a thing as a capitalist who doesn’t want more?”
Trisha pondered over this for a moment before responding, “True. But Mr. Garcia is quite the fooker. I felt an instant connection when I first saw him. Like I’d seen him somewhere before, you know?”
As Celeste pushed open the door and bent down to grab her slippers, she teased, “So quick to fall for someone else? What happened to your Dr. Ledford?”
“I just appreciate Mr. Garcia, that’s all. No funny business. He’s way out of my league with his background. Dr. Ledford’s the one for me.”
With that, she shut the door.
With a frown, Liam glared at the person holding him back and grumbled, “What’s your problem?”
Nicolas replied, “With her bestie around, Celeste will avoid you if she doesn’t want to see you. Her friend will stand guard at the door, not letting you in. There are a lot of people living on this floor; they’ll all see. The more they chatter, the less Celeste will like you.”
Liam furrowed his brow, growing more and more impatient. “So what do you suggest?”
“Watch this, Nicolas said as he pulled out his phone, dialed Owen’s number, and whispered a few instructions before hanging up. He then turned to Liam and said, “Just wait.”
Just as Trisha changed into her pajamas, her phone suddenly rang.
It was a call from the property management. She hurriedly answered.
“Apartment 907, is 375568 your e–bike?”
“Yes, it’s mine. What’s up?”
“Why is your e–bike parked in someone else’s spot? You better move it!
“I didn’t take anyone’s spot.” Trisha frowned. She hadn’t ridden her bike for a couple of days. It had been parked in the e-bike parking area the entire time. There was no way she had taken someone else’s spot.
“Well, the license plate is yours. Isn’t it your bike? Get a move on, or it’s not our problem how the owner decides to handle this.”
“Wait, tell them to hold on. I’ll be right there.”
After hanging up, Trisha yelled towards the bathroom, “Letti, I’m going down to move my bike.”
Celeste responded with a grunt, and Trisha grabbed her bike keys and headed out.
Just as she reached the elevator, she saw Liam and Nicolas standing in the stairwell.
She immediately turned to run back, but Nicolas was quicker. He slipped his arm around her waist, covered her mouth, and hoisted her into the elevator. He then gave Liam a thumbs–up, who pressed the floor button for him.
Trisha struggled in Nicolas‘ grip. During the tussle, Nicolas‘ hand slipped and touched Trisha’s chest.
Trisha bit his hand without hesitation.
But Nicolas didn’t let go. “Do you still want to chase after Jace Ledford or not?”
Trisha glared at him.
Seeing her calm down, Nicolas continued, “I’m taking you to meet Jace now. If Celeste calls you later, tell her you’re busy and will be back later. Got it?”
Trisha shrugged her shoulders, signaling for him to let go.
Nicolas hesitated but eventually released his grip.
Without skipping a beat, Trisha yelled, “You annoying jerk, where do you put your hand? Who do you think you are to touch me whenever you feel like it? Are you addicted or something?”
