Chapter 559
Two people dead, one injured, and compensation of over a million was really not enough; oddly, these passengers didn’t kick up a fuss. But with the help of the Campbell family’s driver, the passengers weren’t so important anymore.
As long as the detective can get some information out of the driver, he might be able to uncover the truth.
Celeste was very pleased with this development and quickly paid the second installment.
In the afternoon, after work, Sienna Reed called.
*Celeste, Robinson got a bunch of dried mangoes recently; I can’t finish them all, so I sent some to you. Have you tried them yet?”
Celeste remembered the big box of dried mangoes she received in the morning, so they were sent by Sienna.
Her eyes softened, and she said quietly, “I haven’t gotten home yet, but if it’s from Robinson, it’s got to be good.”
“Robinson is reliable.” Sienna praised Robinson a few times and then said, “It’s my birthday next Wednesday; Robinson has ordered a giant cake, a whole layer of mangoes. I’ll have Liam pick you up then; eat as much as you want.”
Celeste hesitated: “Is it… appropriate for me to go?”
“What’s inappropriate? Just because you divorced Liam, you don’t recognize me as your grandma anymore?”
“That’s not what I meant; you’re always my elder,” Celeste said quietly. “I just think that now that I’m divorced from Liam, it would be awkward for him if I showed up. Can I visit you the day before your birthday instead?”
“What’s he got to be awkward about? If he’s awkward, he can leave. It’s my birthday; I want to invite the people I like to celebrate with
me:
Sienna sighed, “This is my 80th birthday, probably the last big party in my life. I just want it to be perfect, but if it’s too much for you, never mind. I’m an old woman, not many years left, just muddling through, as Robinson said; I don’t want to cause trouble for the kids.” Robinson thought to himself, Was that something he said?
Hearing this, Celeste immediately softened.
“The doctor said you’re very healthy; living to a hundred is definitely no problem,” and then she paused and said quietly, “Okay, I’ll go.” Sienna was overjoyed, asked her a few questions about her recent situation, and then hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, the case about the property division was going full steam ahead.
When Shawn received the case notification, he almost died of anger.
The Angel Campbell incident had already hit the company once, and now Celeste’s divorce was causing him to lose quite a few orders. He was busy filling these holes and didn’t even have time to settle the score with Celeste, and here she was, coming for him first!
Shawn immediately called Celeste; unsurprisingly, he didn’t get any better treatment than Liam.
Shawn threw down his phone, swearing, “I’ve been taking care of her, feeding her, and now that she’s grown up, she’s bullying me!” Celeste hadn’t contacted him, but her lawyer had.
The other party’s demand was very direct: he can’t take anything away.
She wanted to take the company he worked so hard to build away from him in her dreams!
Helen picked up the phone and put it on the table, gently saying, “Shawn, don’t be angry; your health is important.”
