Chapter 544
Celeste showed her gratitude and took a few sips from her water bottle.
“You’ve got some pretty good horse riding skills,” Mason complimented
“Ah, thank you,” Celeste replied modestly. She felt her skills might look good to amateurs, but to experts, they weren’t worth mentioning.
Liam glanced at her, “Mason has taken formal horse riding lessons before, so if he says you’re good, you must be.”
Celeste was a bit surprised
Last time Steven came and competed with Liam, Mason didn’t participate, so she thought he couldn’t ride a horse.
“Did you actually take horse riding lessons?”
Mason smiled, “I learned with Liam. It wasn’t very professional, just learned the basics”
Mason was a humble person. When he said he knew the basics, it meant he was an expert.
Thinking back to Mason’s resume she saw on the law firm’s website, Celeste couldn’t help but admire how well–rounded he was.
Seeing Celeste’s expressions change from surprise to admiration, Liam’s heart filled with jealousy
He suddenly said to Mason, “How about a little competition?”
Mason laughed, “Nah, I haven’t ridden in a long time. I’m rusty”
Liam smiled. “If you’re rusty, I can go easy on you”
Mason caught the challenging tone in Liam’s words.
Celeste noticed it too, and frowned, “Mr. Fletcher, don’t ride if you don’t want to, just ignore him.”
Liam looked at Celeste seriously
Mason suddenly smiled. “It’s okay,” and then looked at Liam, “Let’s have a competition No need to go easy on me, I can handle winning or losing.” Liam’s lips tightened, and he tossed the key to the tack room to Mason, “Get ready and pick a horse”
About ten minutes later, Mason put on his protective gear and led a brown horse out of the stable.
It seemed to be a new horse Sienna had just bought, and Celeste hadn’t seen it before
However, the horse was no less impressive than Sugar. Its muscles were smooth, and it was even a few centimeters taller than Sugar. Its eyes werent as calm as Sugars, and it seemed not yet fully tamed, a bit wild
Celeste whispered, “Mr Fletcher, maybe choose another horse. This one doesn’t look very gentle.”
Mason smiled, “A gentle horse wouldn’t stand a chance against Sugar”
Celeste didn’t try to persuade him further
Men’s competitiveness isn’t easily swayed by a few words. With Liam’s obvious provocation, although Mason was usually gentle and polite, he was still a spirited man who couldn’t resist the challenge.
Liam looked at her worried expression, his eyes growing heavier
After Mason mounted, Liam snapped his whip and led the way onto the track.
Mason followed closely behind.
At the trainer’s command, the two horses raced side by side.
This time was different from the race against Steven. Liam sped up from the start, not deliberately slowing down to give Mason a chance to catch up
Sugar was naturally fast, excitedly galloping forward under Liam’s control. Mason was not far behind, and the brown horse seemed excited to race against another horse, quickly following Sugar
