Chapter 4
Winona’s POV
My heart was beating wildly as I ran to the scene.
Isabella, who had shifted into her wolf was surrounded by five beasts that guarded the border. There were small cuts all over her body as she tried to defend herself.
This was strange. The beasts were well trained to attack strangers and the invaders, never the pack members. Why went wrong? What’s more, why was Isabella doing at the border?
When I arrived, Jacob had already there. As he run, he turned into a black wolf and then ran into the battle. Looking at the wound on my body made me hesitate.
Perhaps Jacob could save Isabella alone?
Right at that time, one of the beasts caught his back leg and pushed him to the ground. While the others roared and chased Isabella.
As he struggled to get free, Jacob yelled, “Watch out, Isabella.” However, it made the beast angrier. It stomped and shook its head angrily. Then, it jumped to the side and ran toward Isabella.
“It’s your turn, Mia.”
I could not wait any longer so I shifted. Then I ran and blocked the beasts from reaching Isabella as I howled. I ran like a

speeding bullet to jump behind her. After that, I scanned my surrounding trying to find a way for her to escape.
“What had happened? Why are they acting so berserk?”
I asked those questions while trying to scare the beast by showing them my fangs and growled fiercely.
Isabella was so scared that she cried. Sobbing, she stammered, “I–I don’t know. They look nice so I came over and pet them but they got crazy all of sudden.”
Keeping my eyes trained toward the angry beast, I tried to take Isabella circling the beast. I tried to ignore the pain that coursed through my body as I listened to Isabella’s cry. I could tell she was so scared.
“Stop crying. I am stronger than them.”
Although I did not know how to console her, I knew my own ability. Even though I did not want to help her at first, it was my duty to protect the pack and I did not want to see her die.
“I will distract them while you run to Jacob.” I looked at Jacob. “Bring her to a safer place!”
As I pushed Isabella to Jacob, I ran in the opposite direction while making sure the beast’s attention was on me. The beasts were growling and snapping at my heels.
They didn’t even glance at Isabella, clearly much more interested in me. While that was my intention, it felt odd.
I ran as quickly as I could to the forest. I felt my lung was about to burst so I slowed my pace. Immediately, one of the beasts knocked my body and then attacked me while the

others circled me, growling and ready to attack. I tried to roll over but the beast’s bloody fangs appeared in front of my
eyes.
It howled up my neck like it smelled the best food in the world.
Shit! It’s that mark!
“Winona, I could not take it anymore. I am getting weaker!” Mia yelled inside my head.
It made me try to fight back but it was no use. The wound had made me lose all my energy. I knew they went berserk
because of the mark but I could only lay there with closed eyes as I was waiting for the beast to rip my throat.
However, in a flash, the beast whimpered and the pressure on my chest was gone. When I opened my eyes, I saw the beast laying wounded on the ground. Benjamin standing over me, looking at me coldly. With Isabella in his arms.
My tensed body began to relax as I lay on the ground, trying to catch my breath. I could not move at all because my body hurt so bad. Meanwhile, the other warriors had come and begun to restrain the beast.
“Stand up,” Benjamin told me as he stretched out his arm. I hoisted my body with his help after I shifted back.
Jacob’s words came to me just when I struggled to stand up. “Winona is the strongest and bravest she–wolf in the pack.”
I was a little shocked by what he said. How could he praise me?

I smiled back, but he glanced at me with a strange expression on his face. “However, Alpha, Look at her neck – that’s Sebastian’s mark! I bet she has some deal with him.”
My jaw dropped. The man had the nerve to accuse me of being a snitch after I helped Isabella. He shouldn’t be so rude to a Luna!
The moment he said that everyone looked at me with a calculative gaze, then they moved further away from me. I immediately heard them gossiping about me.
Jacob then continued, “The beasts would not attack her if she did not have the devil mark. She even helped him to escape once. I think everyone can understand that this means betrayal!”
“The mark… that’s… that because he injured me!” I tried to defend myself, however, because I was so weak, my voice was barely audible.
“Even if you are not a betrayer, there is his mark on you, so your presence in Lock Heart Pack is a disgrace! Besides, Do you have any proof that you are innocent?” Jacob smiled mockingly at me. In his eyes, I could see that he was sure he could drive me away from the pack.
I never understood his hatred towards me. Perhaps because of Isabella.
But it does not matter. Benjamin will believe me. He knew about my injury and special physique from the start.
I turned my head to look at Benjamin, only to find him stood there coldly and listened to Jacob accusing me carefully.

He cleared his throat when he sensed me looking for his help. He gestured to stop Jacob from speaking then he looked at me. Seeing his green eyes made my heart lurch painfully. His words also made my heart shattered once again.
“Winona, you had disobeyed my command and from all the evidence, we also suspect you of treason. Therefore, according to the Pack Law, you will be jailed in the silver jail. Do you plead guilty?“
