Chapter 15
I was happy to discover that Bash was having no trouble following up as we raced straight toward the driveway. We needed plenty of area to go through.
If anything, it was me that was slowing us down. I turned to yell out some more directions of where we were headed next, but to my surprise, he was running in the opposite direction to where we were needing to go.
“Where are you heading?” I called behind him.”
“That is the way!” he moved in reverse, turning around to look at me as he did so.
“Were you seriously expecting to hurry through the entire way?”
He screamed back, laughing. He was accurate. Assuming I was able to run the entire distance, by the moment we arrived, I would be far too worn out to continue battling.
“All right,” I yelled, sprinting after him.
“Pass me the keys to the vehicle and we’re going to drive.”
“Wow, I’m not handing over the keys.”
He gave me an astonished look.
“You aren’t even aware of the way, so don’t be silly.” At that moment, he paused in his stride and gave me an authoritative look.

“Firstly,” he continued, putting up a finger, “You’re actually fourteen. I won’t be giving a kid the keys.”

My cheeks started to flame as I realized how foolish I had probably seemed. I was not expected to be familiar with vehicle driving just yet. I wouldn’t acquire a driver’s permit anymore for a couple
additional years.
“Then second,” he said, indicating the motorbike placed next to the sidewalk. “It is a motorcycle.”
I fixed my gaze on the deadly trap on two wheels. “You must be kidding.”
He grinned at me, clearly amused. “Only five minutes before, you had planned to flee into threat entirely unprotected and on your own, but a motorbike has now gotten out of reach?”
My lip got bit. He was correct. I whined. “Alright. Let’s simply go. We’re squandering opportunities as it grows darker.”
I quickly turned my head away as his smirk turned into an actual grin so I wouldn’t become entangled up in the sentiments he exudes each time he did that. When he initially grinned like that, I distinctly recall feeling as if my body and soul were dissolving within those gold–colored eyes. He exuded a strange fascinating. aura. It was understandable why the professors were so spellbound by him. I barely managed to ignore his appeal when I was in jail before.
He mounted the vehicle and gave the protective headgear to me.
“Come on, young wolf,” he exclaimed. “Be sure to tightly grip on. You’re so small that you’ll just take away with the breeze.”
I scowled at the way he spoke, which once more poked ridicule of

my apparent youth. But despite that, I mounted the motorcycle in his stead. Considering I had never ridden a motorcycle before, I found the motion awkward, particularly because I hadn’t been aware of where to put my palms or feet.
“You will really go to tumble off if you did this way,” he yelled over the top of his upper body. My body was then hauled up blush against his upper back as he extended his hands ahead to hold between my hips. I was going to object to the closeness when he got hold of my arms and quickly wrapped them firmly over his chest.
Being that close to the person who was suddenly positioned between my thighs made me feel very uncomfortable. I had a hard time focusing on anything else because I was so tightly encircled by him and was able to sense the heat radiating from him. I was so relieved that Bash was unable to perceive my complexion at that point since I knew it had turned fully bright red.
“Okay, let’s go,” he stated and immediately turned the motorcycle
on.
As soon as he checked the accelerator a few times, the vehicle’s grumble began to snarl beneath me. Once he was finished, he took off, sending us hurtling down the path in the direction of the area. While attempting to guide him was uncomfortable, we eventually managed to find the right path thanks to my shouting into the breeze and some clumsy finger gesturing. I must agree, though, that it was thrilling having the sensation like I was flying through the air without the protection of car windows.
I was being forcefully bitten by the icy wind, but it made me think of the times I used to rush through the forest as my wolf and felt completely liberated. We reached rather quickly, stopping by on the other end of the path, much to my pleasure. Actually, I realized

that sprinting by myself would not have allowed me to arrive in time. I might have probably arrived a bit later if Bash didn’t have his motorcycle.
We swiftly walked away and I quickly scanned around the branches line for something odd or strange. But once I was unable to observe anything, I let up a bit. I knew they had to come in by the North, but I was unwilling to get comfortable because that would have meant a quick end.
Bash received my nod and I noticed that he had followed pace. He would likely have more acute senses than I do and be far more aware of any dangers. We started our trek into the woodland after I made a discrete signal for him to go along with me. We climbed the narrow dirt road into the trees while keeping as calm as we could to keep an eye out for potential threats.
We moved with as little evidence as we can because Bash was much more organized than me. A clear demonstration of his experience and training. My pulse began beating rapidly by the moment I spotted the open space. It required all of my willpower not to just dash over to it, since I understood it could be too risky to expose myself without any prior preparation.
Considering that we would be facing properly shifted mature wolves, our best course of action was to surprise them. I guided Bash around a bush that was nearby the clearing’s border and took a brief peak through the foliage. I was relieved to find no indication that Ava or the attackers had come yet. But we had to be vigilant while maintaining an eye watch over her. Hopefully, we could save her from harm well before any violence broke out. All we need to do was divert their attention for sufficient time to permit the troops to arrive.
“Fine, I’ll handle it down here,” Bash stated, while remaining quietly

surveying the scene. “You should go back safely.”
I disregarded him and went to face him again, arguing with every word he had just spoken.
“That’s not possible,” I protested. “I’m not going to leave you there when you’re alone to face off a pack of wolves.”
An aura of resentment ignited around us as he looked into my eyes. “You’re really just trying to stand through this way,” he drew forward and spoke in a low, irritated whisper.
“Stop handling me like I’m a baby!” I heated up. “I have some fighting experience. I’m able to possibly protect your back.”
“You don’t,” he replied and was determined with his choice.
“I will not permit it. You will only suffer harm. There is enough opportunity to develop and get more powerful, however if you’re already dead, you are unable to.”
“Won’t consent and permit it?” I kept saying in shock.
“How in the world do you assume you are?”
“I’m the son of an Alpha. I understand that you belong to another pack, but you must acknowledge my authority over you. Escape, right away. I won’t repeat it once again.”
I felt a wave of rage wash over me, raising my heart rate. It was his doing. He had finally succeeded. He had attempted to speak to me in an Alpha tone. I sensed that he was trying to bully me with his position of power.
He evidently didn’t realize that his control over his distant Alpha heir wouldn’t be sufficiently persuasive to persuade me to surrender, even if I was only a Beta’s daughter and I continued to

sense the force of his authority. We were only a few inches away when I grasped hold of his shirt and dragged his face in.
