Luna Reborn by Juliet Swanson Chapter 12

Chapter 12
“Oh my God, Miss. You are home!” Lily was startled as she said. “I didn’t expect that you would be home this fast. I wanted to give you a surprise. Come here and take a look.”
Afterwards, I walked over to Lily and saw some new clothes that she had been hanging up.
“I hope you like it,” she added.
These clothes were better and more mature for me. They were all the latest trends with great colours. There was no pink, frills, and flowery pattern anymore. I couldn’t help but feel joy upon seeing her huge effort for me. She was beyond my expectation. She didn’t just throw away my old clothes. She replaced them.
“Lily…” I was still at a loss for words. “Thank you for putting your effort into me.”

“I noticed that you didn’t have many clothes after I threw away old ones. So, I decided to fill this wardrobe instead,” she smiled at me warmly.
I turned to her and bit my lip in thought afterwards.
Would it be too soon to start the plan? Lily really wants to help me. This girl seems pretty sincere to me.
“Lily, can I trust you?” I asked.
Her eyes rounded. She was surprised by my sudden question, “Of course, you are. Miss, you can tell me anything.”

She smiled brightly again. Afterwards, I began to write a letter after walking over to my desk.
“What is it? Did you want to tell me a secret? Is it about a boy?” Lily was really playful in making guesses.
She probably thought that this was something merely to tell her. I quickly sealed the envelope tightly and handed it to her. She didn’t know it was beyond that.
“It is really prominent, Lily. I need you to deliver this tomorrow morning to the abandoned lot on Main Street. There is a large space on the property on the back. You can leave this next to that rock,” I explained to her.
Lily was stunned upon hearing my strange request. “Miss….” She was unsure for a moment and didn’t know how to say.
“This is really important, Lily. It’s about life or death,” I looked her with a cold gaze in the eye so that she realized that I meant it. She needed to know that I was serious so that my plan would go smoothly.
“Sure, Miss. I will deliver this,” finally, she said while tucking the letter away. “It is an honour for me to help you.”
“Thank you, Lily. I do really appreciate it,” I sighed and felt relieved once she had agreed. “Well, I have to do my homework now. Thank you once more for the clothes and that letter.”
“Anytime, Miss. I will excuse myself then.” Lily then walked to the door.
When she was about to leave, I remembered something else. I had almost forgotten the most crucial instructions.
“Lily, hold on!” I exclaimed and made her stop.
“Yes, Miss?” she was wondering.
“Although you might be curious, please don’t open that letter.” I simply smiled at her.
There was a slightly worried frown painted on her face, but she nodded anyway. Lily then closed my door. I had thought of many different plans in my head all day long. But, all of them had led me back to this one. There was no way to turn around, unfortunately. So, I needed to make this right.
The next day was normal like usual.
I had breakfast in the kitchen with my mother. Afterwards, Lily helped me prepare for school. She didn’t mention the letter at all and acted as if nothing happened. I was really grateful to her. Meanwhile, my father was away on business. But, he would be returning today and I was super excited to finally see him again.
He has been very serious and strict with me since I was very young, which caused me to be a little afraid of him, and there was a boundary between us. It made me regret it when I died – my mother died early. He had to live alone without anyone’s support after I died.
But, thanks to the moon goddess, I now have a new chance. I will love and accompany him even better.
The school itself seemed normal as well. The kids had already forgotten the things about yesterday although some of them still looked at me strangely. There were no strange encounters yet. So, today and I felt so grateful. However, in my attempt to be more aware of my surrounding, I noticed something.

I saw Bash kiss a random girl who was around one or two grade levels above me. The two of them giggled and went into an empty class to do something that only Goddess knew.
I sighed deeply and rolled my eyes.
I then headed to the library and put aside the scene that I just saw. I walked to the place at the cornerback directly. I started to make a list of plans that would be my next move immediately. This included new bank accounts, investments, and so on. I became absorbed in my concentration so I didn’t notice that there was someone approaching me until I heard that timid voice.
“Hello, Winona.” I heard the voice stuttering.
I looked up and saw there was a girl my age. She had mousey brown hair with a pair of blue eyes. Her figure was small and she probably had a social awkwardness.
“Hello,” I replied cautiously.
I actually didn’t know yet about her intention. I seemed pretty familiar with her, but I didn’t immediately recognize her. The next second, I knew who she was.
“I see you in this library every day. I usually sit just in that front a bit there. I am sorry for disturbing you.” I could sense that this girl was extremely nervous while talking to me.
“I heard that you fought Jacob yesterday. I just want to say thank you.” She still nervously talked to me and played her sweater’s sleeves.
“He’s pretty mean to me,” she continued. “But, no kids in the school who has the rank can stand up to him. I am aware that you didn’t do it for me. But still, I just want to say thank you for what

you did.”
I didn’t shock upon hearing that Jacob was a bully to the weaker wolves. He always crossed the line first. But, I, fortunately, didn’t have to worry about him here in the school. I did what I did yesterday because he had tested my patient first.
“I am sorry for bothering you once again. I will leave you to it then,” she said and went to walk away.
The girl thought that I kept silent all the time and took it as a hint to leave me alone. To be honest, I was silent because thinking a lot about her. She reminded me of my younger self in the past. I could relate to the numb loneliness inside her. In short, we both were Jacob’s victims. But, I couldn’t explain that similarity to her certainly.
“Hold on,” I said to her while pointing my finger to the book in her hands. “What is that?”
She smiled nicely while looking down at her book, “Do you mean this one? It’s my favourite book. I have read it for the fourth time now. You’d probably think I am just a nerd. But, it’s a fantasy novel.”
I smiled gently at her, “Can I see it for a moment?” As I held out my hand, I nodded to her.
“Yes, go ahead!” The girl handed me the book excitedly.
I was never really fond of many fiction books in the past. I only chose to read more for academic ones to prepare for my Luna position. However, this genre seemed interesting.
“You can borrow it if you like,” she bluntly said to me.

I was surprised and looked up at her, “But, you said you were reading this earlier.”

“It’s totally fine. I still have many other books to read,” she assured
me.
I thought about it for a minute. But, I felt bad if I said no to her offer, especially after seeing her excitement about borrowing me this book.
“All right then. I will borrow this. Thank you. Sorry, what is your name?” I trailed off while realizing I didn’t even know her name.
“My name is Ava,” she smiled brightly.
“It is such a pleasure to meet you, Ava. I am Winona,” I said while returning her smile softly.
Her name felt bothered in my mind now. I thought I should have known this girl’s identity, but I had no idea yet. Afterwards, I heard the bell for class ring and I gently put that novel along with my notes on my backpack.
“Well, I probably should go now. I’ll return it as soon as possible,” I said while standing up.
“Take it easy. I know you must be pretty busy,” she said.
Sadly, it was true anyway. I was even busier now that my younger self in the past. There was no leisure time for me right now. However, I felt relieved for doing something good, especially after seeing this girl gain her confidence from our small conversation. We chatted a little bit afterwards before going to our own classes.
I was excited upon seeing my father who had just returned after I got home from school. I ran to his arms and hugged him tightly. It
was precisely like what I did to my mother yesterday. I tried my best not to weep inside his warm embrace like what I did to my mother, but it was totally in vain. I couldn’t stop the tears that ran from my both eyes.
I could see a glimpse of his confused expression at my mother while peeking up. My mother shrugged at him to give the answer. However, I felt joy to see him and now being wrapped in his arms. This welcome feeling was beyond words. I always wanted us to be like this: no border at all.
Afterwards, I saw Lily walk in when I was in the kitchen. Upon realizing that it was only the two of us here, I took this chance to talk to her secretly.
“Have you delivered that letter this morning, Lily?” I asked.
She smiled at me as if nothing happened, “Of course, Miss.”
I was really grateful she didn’t bomb me with any questions or even stated her wonder towards that letter. I got out of my chair slowly and started to make some tea. I heated up the water and resumed the process.
“Are you making some tea, Miss?” Lily asked.
“Yes, I thought it would be nice to give this to my mother and father,” I answered.
I studied her behaviours carefully to detect something weird about her. But, Lily just smiled back at me. I started to mix in some herbs and allowed them to settle into the heated water.
“Miss, is that a new tea? What herbs are those?”
“It is just a special blend that I have picked up. It helps to relax the

body.”
She watched me pouring it into two teacups.
“Can you please give these to my parents?” I asked Lily then.
She looked down at them with a confused expression, “Didn’t you say that you want to surprise them with this?”
I shook my head while smiling, “No, thanks.”
Lily then smiled and agreed to help me. She left the room with those two teacups in her hand. I could feel my hands shaking with nerves after seeing her figure disappear. I was anxiously waiting to see whether my plan would be conducted well or the contrary.
It was only two results: Lily returned normally or a warrior would burst in here and arrest me for murder as I experienced before.
I could feel every second passing slowly. Did I just make a mistake? Should I have waited a little bit longer before conducting my plan?
