Chapter 40.
Clair
Three days had gone by since that disastrous breakfast with Jake. I haven’t seen him since that day so I spent most of my time training and volunteering at the daycare.
Tonight would be a full moon. Four pups were expected to shift and I convinced
Aaron to let me join him since he was the one overseeing when pups shift for the first time. He would be helped out by two other warriors.
Glaiza would be among the pups shifting tonight. I worked with her at the daycare and we’ve been spending a lot of time for the last couple of days that when she told me she would be shifting, and how scared she was, I volunteered to stay with her while she shift and to run with her.
I also wanted to let Rain out. It has been a long time since she went out for a run.
Of course, I made sure Jake won’t be there or it might not end well if Rain sees our mate.
Aaron told me Jake had to attend some meeting at the nearby town and won’t be back until midnight. Then shifting would be done by then.
Well, the pups shifted without any problem and as soon as everybody was able to shift, we all opted for a run.
Rain was ecstatic to be let out. My wolf loved the way the cool breeze felt on our face, how the fresh air made our skin tingle and for a moment, we wished Jake and Echo were here to run with us.
Rain ran with Glaiza’s wolf most of the time and with Ark, Aaron’s wolf from time to
time. It was my first run with my brother and I did enjoy it.
By the end of the run, the pups were exhausted and ready to call it a night.
When we reached the clearing where we shifted, I went immediately and hid against the tree where I left off my clothes earlier.
I lazily put my clothes on and as soon as I was done and ready to leave, a burning pain suddenly erupted within my navel going thru my core.
I tried to suppress the pain by coiling my body, sitting on the ground, and by controlling my breathing. But the heat continued to intensify, my tongue craving for something I couldn’t grasp.
And this scared me enough. When the burning pain didn’t die but continued to escalate, I let out a scream calling for my brother as I made my way out from the tree trunk I was hiding.
Jake
The meeting at the nearby town was a caput.
They knew we wanted to extend our land and we formerly agreed on the amount I needed to pay to acquire it but the Alpha suddenly changed his mind and requested a different payment. He wanted me to mate with his daughter.
My Beta declined on my behalf and proposed a different kind of settlement.
The discussion went on for two hours with the Alpha insisting from time to time that I meet his daughter first before making a decision.
By the end of the second hour, I put my foot down and declined any more arrangements.
If they don’t want us to buy the land at the previously discussed price, then the deal was off.
No f*uc*king mating involved.
We arrived back into the territory just in time to make it before the pups head home from shifting. I wanted to talk with them for a while and see how was their shifting.
I stepped into the clearing with my Beta and saw my Gamma talking with his warriors
Everyone bobbed their heads to
acknowledge my arrival.
“How was the shifting?” My question was directed to my Gamma.
“All cleared, Alpha. No problem at all. The females were just putting their clothes on and we’ll all head home.” He answered proudly.
I nodded but was somehow confused when he said, females. I thought we only have one she-wolf shifting tonight.
“I see…” I was about to ask more when her scent hit me.
But the smell was something more. Her scent was mixed with something so sweet that made me salivate.
I licked my lips as my eyes swept the clearing watching for any signs of her.
It was then when I noticed that I was not the only one who smelled her. The two warriors with my Gamma were doing the exact same thing I did, licking their lips, salivating.
I glanced at my Beta beside me. His eyes shifted to black, jaw tightening and hands coiled into fists. “There’s a she-wolf in heat around us!” He exclaimed almost the same time as a screaming voice erupted in the air. “Aaron!” Clair came running out of the tree trunk with her hands in her stomach, her eyes widening and shifting from black to red.
She halted from her run when the two warriors together with the 3 newly shifted pups blocked her way, the look in their eyes made me want to grab them and snap their necks.
“No! Stay away!” She snarled, barring her teeth on them.
F*uc*k this! Clair was on heat!
Aaron was the only man not affected, and upon realizing what was happening with Clair, he ran to her and knocked out some of the men before clutching Clair into his arms.
“F*uc*k off!” He crouched placing Clair behind him and positioned himself for an attack against the remaining wolves who wanted a piece of Clair.
I felt my Beta still frozen in his place. He was fighting off Clair’s scent, as I was but before I could move to take down my own warriors to save her, she jumped up on me! Her arms wrapped around my neck and her legs around my waist. I felt my body stiffen and my manhood jerked up when she started nibbling in my neck.
“Jake…” She cooed as she continued to lick me.
“F*uc*k!” I groaned as I stood there with my hand on her a*s*s controlling myself not to touch her. She f*uc*king smelled f*uc*kable!
I was snapped out of my control when I felt one hand trying to grab Clair away from me. “Don’t touch her!” I used my Alpha
command but to my surprise, it didn’t work with the warrior. I pushed my warrior with my free hand, making him jerk away from Clair.
Aaron continued to help block off the other males from reaching us, while Clair continue to torture me by licking my neck and rubbing her body against me.
“Beta! F*uc*king help us!” I shouted at my Beta.
“I can’t! If I moved, I swear to the Goddess I’ m going to take her away from you so f*uc*king go! Take her away from here!” He snapped back at me, his words coming out of his nose. He was trying not to breathe.
I was ready to let my claws out to rip the men in front of me but decided last minute to use my Alpha command again, this time I let out the strongest Alpha tone I could muster.
“All of you, turn around and go home!” I growled as soon as the command came out of my throat. I felt my Alpha aura rolling off me towards the clearing.
It did work!
My warriors, including my Beta and Gamma dropped down to their knees, twitching in pain. After a while, they all rose up and moved away from the clearing.
It was only then I realized David was there. Aaron might have mind linked him. He turned around and headed home as well.
“Aaron! Stay!” I commanded again, he stopped in his track and went back to approach us.
“Jake…” Clair continued to purr, her eyes closed. My neck was already wet and she was now moving to kiss my lips. I tilted my head to the side making her kiss and lick my cheeks instead.
“Take her home, Aaron! I can’t control myself soon!” I hissed, doing my best not to touch her some more.
“No! No! Not home! Dad said she’ll be safer at the pack house. It can contain her smell.. ” He stuttered, his eyes widening as she looked at Clair while she continue to nibble my skin. “Dad said she has some Alpha blood and can attract at a greater distance than ordinary.” His hands tried to pry her clutch on my neck.
“Shit!” I pulled my hair in frustration. ” Then take her, carry her! Put her in the guestroom!” My body went rigid as she tried to lower her mouth on my chest. “Clair…” My voice pleading, pleading for what, I have no idea!
Aaron pulled her body away from me just in time and it snapped Clair from her trance.
She tried to wriggle her body to get away from Aaron, calling out for me.
“Jake!!!” She reached out her hand towards me as Aaron carried her away.
I closed my eyes and turned around before I shifted to let Echo run in a different direction.
The pain in Clair’s eyes would forever haunt me. I knew she felt betrayed that I let her go when she needed me.
She’s my f*uc*king mate and I caused this f*uc*king heat!
‘Mindlink Jenny and let her stay with Clair tonight. And can you make sure to spray some freshener in the hallway all over the house to mask off her scent? It would help me and Gavin.” I mind linked Aaron.
