Chapter 60
It took me a while to see properly due to the sudden change in brightness
inside the room. Then, I spotted the person standing next to my bed.
She was wearing the nurse’s uniform, but she had no name tag on.
The lady narrowed her eyes as she smiled sweetly at me, “You look very
scared, Vivi dear. What’s the matter? Did you do something bad?”
I was too stunned to speak as I stared at her.

She sat on the edge of the bed. “Your cancer, the abortion… Hmm, was it

“Get out.” I managed to say that after a long while.
Rina raised a brow.
“Please leave.” I could hear how shaky my voice was, but I couldn’t help it. I
was already at my limit.
“How could I leave you here alone? Who’s going to bring your child to you,
then? Here, look at it! Baby…” Rina took out a bloodied doll with dark holes in
its eye sockets.
The sound of a baby crying resounded in the room as Rina chuckled
hysterically, “Try saying ‘Mommy“!”
I didn’t hear what she said after that as my body moved on its own out of
fear. I scrambled out of the bed and rushed out of the ward.

Then, I ran down the corridor without even knowing where I was headed. I
was completely scared out of my wits.

I had no idea how long I ran when I suddenly crashed into a person in the
corridor. I detected the bitter smell of medicine as a familiar voice rang from
above my head, “What’s wrong? You can relax now. Did something happen
just now?”
As the person patted me gently on my back, I gradually calmed down.
I lifted my gaze and found that it was Chris.
He had a concerned look in his eyes. “What’s wrong? Come. Have a seat
here.”
We sat down on a nearby bench. After some time, I said in a cracked voice,
“I… I saw my child… Rina Olsen is in my room.”
“Rina Olsen?” Chris looked down at his watch. “It’s three in the morning now.
We don’t allow visitations at this hour. Could it be that you were having a

nightmare just now?”
I shook my head. Then, I started telling him what happened earlier. “I wasn’t
dreaming. She was holding my child.”
“It was this big.” I used my hands to show him the size.
“Your child wasn’t that big. You must’ve had a bad dream.” Chris asked, “I’ll
accompany you back to your room, alright?”

As we arrived outside the ward, I was so scared that I hid behind Chris and
refused to enter the room. Several nurses had gathered there since the door
to my ward was opened and no one was inside.
Chris asked all of them if they had seen a strange–looking nurse entering or
leaving my ward, but none of them saw someone like that.
Then, Chris checked everywhere inside the room and confirmed that no one
was hiding in there.

I was still feeling skeptical. “Let’s check the surveillance footage.”
We spent the rest of the night going through the surveillance footage. Still, I
couldn’t find anything that indicated Rina was here.
Chris took me back to the ward in the morning. “I’ll get breakfast for you.”
I tugged at his sleeve. “Don’t leave.”
I did not want to stay in the room all by myself.
Chris sat on the bed. “There’s usually a lot of people in the canteen. You
wouldn’t want to be there.”
He’s right, but I…
There was an awkward silence as we both stopped talking.
After a moment, Chris began, “Stay at my place instead.”

I turned my eyes to him.
“You know it’s the better option now.” Chris explained, “The environment here
is creating more and more stress for you. It’s also a public space. We can
hardly prevent those who intend to sneak into this place. You should heed
my advice for the sake of your personal safety.”
In the end, I agreed with Chris‘ plan.

As he drove me to his place, Chris tried to make small talk to put me at ease.
“Anyway, why did your sister say that she couldn’t have you over at the
moment?”
“Oh…” I stuttered a little, “Uh… She just said that it wasn’t possible for now.”
Chris let out a chuckle as my response was too forced. “What is it? You sound
completely unlike yourself.”
“Well. I have a question that may sound a bit offensive. Do all men fantasize
about getting in bed with their partner and their partner’s sisters as well?”

cough.

After a while, I finally heard him saying, “You and your sister are very different.
I think someone who likes you wouldn’t fall for your sister as well.”
I noticed his ears had turned red. I asked curiously, “Is it just me or do you feel
something different for my sister?”
“She’s dating my intern.” Chris laughed softly. “How do you think I should feel
about that?”
I was rendered speechless by that.
To my surprise, Chris‘ home was located near the Nyra Corporation’s building.
I could even see the chairman’s office from a window in his house.
Even though the place was clean, I picked up a musty smell as I entered the

Then, he said, “I have to go back to work. There are a lot of patients coming in
the morning. Would you be alright on your own?”

I stopped him. “I’ll call my sister. Besides, you shouldn’t share your banking
information just like that.”
Chris grinned mischievously at me. “It’s not like I have that much money.”

worry. They wouldn’t senselessly suspend doctors for a reason like that.”
I sighed in relief. “Anyhow, just tell me if you ever need my help. I’m willing to
explain things and prove your innocence if the situation calls for it.”
Chris had a gentle look in his eyes as he smiled at me. “What if those
accusations weren’t all wrong?”
