Chris took the phone and interrupted her, “Hello, Ms. Anna. I was hoping you
would agree to let Ms. Vivienne stay at my place for a few days. She’s caught
a cold and she needs to rest…”
I tried to snatch the phone back, but Chris caught my wrist instead. “She was
worried about what your father would think of this… Of course. I’ll only drop by
the place to check on her condition.”
After speaking to Anna for a little while longer, Chris finally handed the phone
back to me.

“No, Vivi. I don’t think you should stay with me.” Anna lowered her voice. She
sounded a bit uneasy. “Harvey has been acting weird lately. He keeps
bringing you up. I think he’s probably interested in you.”
Her words gave me a shock. “How’s that possible?!”
“Things like this happen more often than you think. A lot of men have strange
fantasies about sleeping with their partner’s siblings.” Anna snickered, “I don’t
mind telling you about it. When we were having lunch today, Harvey had a
strangely pleased expression when he said something about you being very
good with men. Does that sound like a decent brother–in–law to you?”
After I ended the call, I fixed Chris with a stony gaze.

The man kept a smiling expression as he returned my gaze. However, he

password code to open the door to my house. You can just set a new one.

I shook my head firmly. “I’m not going.”
The smile froze on Chris‘ lips.
I continued in a small voice, “I’ll stay at another hospital.”
A slight frown pulled the man’s brows together. Chris smiled wryly. “Do I seem
like a bad guy to you?”
“It’s not that… I just… If I hadn’t accepted your offer to give me a ride on
Christmas, things wouldn’t have turned out like this today. I just don’t want to
make the same mistakes again.”
Truthfully, I just don’t want to go to Chris‘ place. I have known the man for only
a short time now.

smilingly, “You have no cash, and you don’t even have your phone with you.
All the bills for your treatment are still unpaid. However, I don’t plan on lending
you money since… I haven’t known you for that long.”
I realized only then that I had forgotten to borrow some money from Anna. I
hurriedly said, “Could you lend me your phone again?”

In the end, I gave in and decided to stay at Saint Jude Hospital for now.
I had no appetite to eat that night. Chris explained that it was probably
because my body had yet to recover from the abortion procedure.

In my dream, I was lying on the grass inside this beautiful garden. Flowers
were blooming everywhere.
The sun was so bright that I had to raise my hand to shield my eyes. Just
