When I was pondering on what I should do, I heard the door open, I thought it was another maid taking things, so I didn’t really care, but I noticed the sound of our bedroom door being opened, I shot up and saw Casey, making me feel all the more enraged.
“What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with your fated mate now?” I didn’t know I could sound so mean.
“I’m here to grab my suit, I will be staying at the Pack House for a few days.”

Casey saw that I didn’t reply, so he went into the room, took the suit I prepared for him, and left.
My arms were limp at my sides and I didn’t keep him. I knew very well that I was losing him. But whatever, I wanted him to regret, to feel my pain.
I saw the dress laying on the couch, I took that from the maid when she was trying to bring my clothes to Lori. It was a gift from Casey, it was a green flower embroidery tulle long dress, with thin spaghetti straps, it was floor length, it didn’t show my legs, but covered my pear–shape body, with sweetheart neckline, my collarbone and shoulder were on display. It was tasteful, not too revealing, it also brought out the green in my eyes.
Casey was reluctant to buy the dress for me at first. I fell in love with the dress when we were window shopping, but he didn’t want me to wear the dress at first, because it was deemed too seductive by him. I had to plead with him a few times, he made me promise not to wear this dress outside of our house, I had to say yes so he could buy the dress for me.
I was not planning on wearing this tonight, but now I knew what I should wear tonight, I would get all decked out tonight and make him realize what he had missed.
And I had to go, the Harvest Moon Ball was held annually to celebrate what we gain this year, and this year it was our turn to hold the Ball, I had been hands–on all the time, from catering to the flower arrangement, I couldn’t just go because he said so. Sure, he was the Alpha, but he couldn’t deprive me of enjoying my labor.
Why did the Harvest Moon Ball mean so much to me? It was five Harvest Moon Balls ago, he proposed to me, it wasn’t a big anniversary to celebrate, but I knew I couldn’t miss it for the world, even though his heart might lay elsewhere.

I walked into the bathroom and checked myself carefully in the mirror, I looked like a mess, even more so than I was in the morning, I would need to do my hair, and I needed make–up, I needed to cover my exhausted look, I used some concealer under my eyes, I even applied some eyeshadow to enhanced my green eyes. I didn’t know how since I had never worn make–up before, but I found some video tutorials online and just follow every step, I had to say I look good with make–up, and I regretted not wearing make–up more often. I contemplated which lipstick I should use, and in the end, I chose a classic red one, I wanted to look simple yet elegant.
When I finished with my make–up, I put on my dress, it looked so good on me. the green color brought out my emerald eyes, the fitting upper part of the dress showed my beautiful shoulder and arms, and the hemline flowed with my every move. I looked at my reflection in the mirror, I didn’t even recognize myself.
I now knew why Casey wouldn’t let me wear any make–up, because when I did, I would draw a lot of attention.
Well, it was almost time, I should head to the ball, by myself.
When I arrived, everyone was already there, and I heard a gasp when they saw me. I didn’t know whether it was because of my newfound look or because Casey was already there with Lori.
I didn’t pay too much attention to them, I went straight for the champagne. The truth was, I needed to calm myself down. When I saw them standing together, I knew why the moon goddess gave us fated mates, they looked so good together, like they were the real couple.
Was this how it would be from now on? They would be standing shoulder to shoulder, and I would be cast aside,
I could feel Casey’s intense gaze on me like he wanted to burn a hole in me using his eyes. After all, I disobeyed two of his orders at the same time. I showed up at the ball dressing to the nines.

Usually, it would be up to me to attend to the guests and greet everyone,
but obviously, I was not up for the task tonight, the job landed on Lori. Of course, who else would be doing this if I was not here? She was Casey’s fated mate after all.
I thought I should take this opportunity to enjoy myself tonight.
But just as I was starting to relax, Casey suddenly walked towards me.
“What are you doing here dressing like this?! I thought I told you not to come.” He asked angrily.
“Why? So I could miss it when you announce your fated mate? As your wife, I think I should at least get the chance to witness how you betray me. Don’t you like this dress? You got it for my birthday, remember?” I feigned ignorance.
“You know I don’t like you dressing like this, and you even wear make- up!” He clenched his fist in anger.
But I was angrier.
“And you know I don’t like you bringing her here! What did you do? If you couldn’t respect my wishes, why should I do as you told me?”
“Go back now! You can’t be here making such a scene,” He didn’t get to finish his words, because the champagne tower just collapsed suddenly. We both looked back and saw Lori standing there with a glass of champagne in her hand.
“I was… I was just trying to take one glass.” She said and lowered her head like a child who made a mistake
“Look who’s making a scene.” I had no intention of fixing everything for them, so I just started to walk in the opposite direction.
This time Casey didn’t stop me, because he had his mess to attend to.

I couldn’t help but look over at Lori and Casey, his face pulled as he asked someone to clean up the mess. I felt his gaze fall on me, and I quickly looked away, continue talking with Eloise.
Suddenly there was a commotion, Eloise and I both looked at where the sound came from, there was another Luna there.
“I only recognize Luna Zora, who is this wild she–wolf you got?” Her voice was loud and she sounded a little mad.
She quickly looked up after noticing our gazes, and she started to walk toward me.
“Luna Zora, why are you not the one beside Alpha Casey?”
