Alpha’s Virgin Wife Chapter 227

Alpha’s Virgin Wife by Baby Charlene

Chapter 227 The Words Of Their Hearts

Breaking the contact, Shilah moved to the door to check it out. Although, her heart was bittered as she felt pained that someone had interrupted the one good moment she was having with the King. Who was it, anyway?

But, when she opened the door, her bitterness melted into delight as she found Dyani in front of her.

“Shilah!”

“Dyani!”

The two women’s were filled with so much excitement as they giggled and engaged in an eye-closed hug. It felt so good, just so good – especially Dyani.

“My goodness, Shilah! I cannot believe this is you. You look so… gorgeous” Dyani chuckled as they seperated from the hug.

“Thank you, Dyani. And you’re not looking bad yourself”, Shilah was all smiles.

Dyani had caught the rumours flying around about Shilah being different, dark-minded and cruel. She even heard her appearances had changed and looked just like that of a lone witch. And to be honest, that was what she had been expecting – to see a lady who would be so cruel and snobbish.

But, she was getting the opposite. Although, it was true that her appearances had changed as she looked more fierce and powerful, but talking about her character, a bit didn’t seem to change about her. Her smiles were so bright and welcoming and she sounded just like the Shilah she used to know. The only difference was, she didn’t look intimidating anymore – which was a good thing.

“How have you been, Dyani?” Shilah asked, holding her hand.

They were still standing at the doorway.

“I should be asking you. You just vanished into thin air, leaving us all worried”.

Shilah smiled. “I’m sorry, it’s complicated. How is Cara?”

“She’s doing just fine. I heard you had arrived and decided to check in for you…”

King Dakota stood behind and listened to the women’s conversations. It was strange – strange how Shilah sounded so different to Dyani. There was so much warmth in her voice, so much friendliness. So, there was still a part of her that could envelope her iciness and act cool towards those she still liked?

“I’ll come over to your room later. I’m with the King for now”, Shilah said in conclusion.

“The King? The King is here?”Dyani had no idea the whole time.

She quickly stepped into the room and bowed when she saw the King.

“Greetings, My King”. The King hesitated.

“Greetings to you, Dyani”. Shilah noticed the King looked differently at Dyani. Was there something wrong?

“Uhm… I’ll see you later, Shilah”.

“Of course”.

And with a parting smile, she left. With the door closed, Shilah turned back to the King, her smiles effortlessly fading off her face.

“How has things been with the Palace?” She found herself asking. “I mean… your wives, brother, everyone, including you. How have you been, King Dakota?”

Her last lines dazzled his eyes. He drew a long breath and traipsed to the window.

“To be honest, I have not been fine, Shilah”, he muttered. “First, I lost my son. Then, I lost you. I didn’t think I’d survive the pain”.

Backing her, Shilah couldn’t tell what his emotions looked like, she could only imagine.

“And now… things has become more complicated. But I guess I should be used to it ’cause I’ve never had a perfect life”.

There was a stretched silence. Shilah wanted to speak up, say something, but she didn’t know the right words to use.

The King had equally been yearning to hear from her, but when she didn’t speak up, he concluded she really didn’t have anything to say. And perhaps, there was no more love in her cold heart for him.

“Do you plan on leaving?” He c*oc*ked his head to the side, taking a partial look at her. The question nearly threw Shilah off balance. Oh, no. She wasn’t ready for it. She really wasn’t.

“I… I have some things to do”, she found herself stutter for the first time in two months. The King returned his face to the window.

“When?” That one word echoed with coldness.

“I might leave after lunch”, she responded.

She had a feeling her words hurt him. She could tell he desired more time with her, and so did she. Why was things feeling so awkward between them?

For a longer time, they stayed in silence until the King turned to face her.

“Let’s head to the dining. Lunch might be getting served already”, he worded and without awaiting a response from her, began walking out the door.

CHASKA’S ROOM

********************

“The nerves of that Shilah!” Chaska gritted as she paced back and forth the room, her head banging heavily.

“How dare she make me kneel before her? How dare she humiliate me like that? And to think Pishan and the King had seen me? What would they think of me? How lowly would they regard me? The hate I feel for that woman now is greater than I’ve ever felt for her” .

Gina watched as the Queen bickered. Shouldn’t she be feeling all remorseful and looking for a way to get Shilah’s forgiveness? Why was she being so different?

“Because of her, My Mavy is dead. Because of her, Urika is an imbecile. And still because of her, I lost my womb!” she cried out.

“I can’t take it anymore, Gina. I’ve lost everything! Including the King’s attention. So, if I’m going down, I’m determined to go down with her”.

*******

The King and his questionable wife ambled all the way to the dining in silence and upon arrival, discovered the maids were almost done setting the table.

They sat to eat and as promised, Shilah told everything to the King – what she had gone through when she left the Palace. Her encounter with the witches, then meeting Bastet and learning all the truth from her past. She explained how Bastet was the reason for her strong-mindedness as she had trained her into the lady she had grown to become.

But, from all her narrations, all the King could see was a lady who had so much plans on her desk – plans bigger than the both of them. And although, he was proud of her, but they still hurt him to know she might have no concerns for him again.

As soon as they were done eating, it suddenly started raining.
