Alpha’s Virgin Wife by Baby Charlene
Chapter 222 A Conversation
Alone in the room Lord Achlys, Shilah walked up to the windows and rolled up the curtains, increasing the light and freshness in the room. She could hear him grunting from behind, his muscles f0rcefully wanting to be alive. She turned away from the window and leaned her back on it, crossed her hands below her bre@sts and just watched him in scrutiny.
As he struggled on the bed, she scrutinized his features, confessing he was indeed a fine man. Due to his twenty years of sleep, he looked twenty years older and very attractive. She wouldn’t blame her mother for falling for him, considering his charms and all, but blamed him for hurting her.
She recalled the words he had said to her mother from her visions. The way he had loved her from the beginning but denied her in the end. If it wasn’t for her hatred for Ryder, she’d have accorded Lord Achlys deserved what he got.
He continued tossing and jerking until finally, those veined eyes of his shut open. His first breath came in a long deep gasp, veins showing all around him as he clenched his teeth and fisted his hands.
His groans became louder and it took him a while to get a grip of himself. Being half-dead for over twenty years, he felt empty and different. His brain had become numb and his senses heightened.
Getting control, he became calm and recognized the ceiling ahead of him. Where was he? And what had happened? The last he could remember was being stabbed by…
“Ryder!” The name rang in his head and f0rcefully, he managed to sit up. He found himself shivering from within, craving. What happened to him?
“Welcome back to the land of the living” He flinched when he heard a strange voice behind him. He hadn’t even bothered looking round the room.
Quickly, he c*oc*ked his head and was beyond shocked to find a familiar person leaning on the window. His heart nearly jumped out of his chest and so did his eyes.
“Ayita?” The name sounded odd coming from his lips. That instance, he had forgotten all about his cravings and focused his worries on his ex-lover. Although … she looked a little different.
Shilah scoffed and freed her hands from her chest.
“You really think Ayita would be this young after so much time?” She left the window and began heading for the table. And as she did, she wondered if she had so much of a resemblance with her mother. Well, Bastet had told her the same thing some months ago.
“You… You’re not Ayita?” Lord Achlys gave a head-to-toe stare from behind. “Then, how do you look exactly like her?”
Shilah said nothing as she took the bowl of fresh blood from the table and proffered it to him.
“Drink up. You should be starving”, she muttered.
Settings his eyes on the bloody, Lord Achlys felt himself going nuts. Now, that was something he couldn’t resist.
In one swift move, he grasped the bowl from her and took everything down in a few gulps. Even with how little it was for him, he still felt refreshed with his cravings dying down a bit. The veins around his eyes faded off as well.
“Thank you” He dabbed his lips with the back of his palm.
“You’re welcome, Lord Achlys” Shilah said with a small smile as she collected the bowl from him. “Or should I say … Father?”
Her last word struck him so hard, he whipped his head to look at her. Eyes widely opened, realization dawned on them and that very instant, he felt himself quake.
“You…”, his lips shook. “You’re…Are you…”
“Yes, I am” Shilah cut in, turning around to return to the cup. “I am that child you had with the witch, Ayita. The very one you denied and left to die.”
Pain beeped through his heart, making him unable to breathe for some seconds.
“How is it possible?” His words were hushed as he looked down at the floor. “How long has it…”
“It’s been twenty-one years, Lord Achlys. Twenty-one years since you were stabbed and locked up by Ryder. A lot has happened, you know? But the summary of it all – I’m the reason you’re awake”, she paused and chuckled. “Who would’ve thought? The very child you abandoned would be the reason you’re alive. Anyway, you can ask the details from Cami later on”.
Evenly, she walked back to the window and stood, facing it. Lord Achlys’ heart was being too heavy to comprehend everything, it was just too heavy. His child with Ayita had survived and was that big already? Why did he have to be asleep for so long?
Now he understood why the lady had looked like Ayita but in a different way. They had the same looks, but his daughter looked more fierce and dangerous.
“Your mother”, he turned to look at her, though he could only stare at her back. “Where is she?”
“All thanks to you, I’ve never set my eyes on her,” Shilah uttered, crossing her hands at her back. “And disrespectfully, it’s unfortunate you’re the first I get to see”, she turned to face him.
“While you were locked up, Ryder took over and was on his way to becoming the overall ruler before my interference. I made him lead us to you and currently, he’s being dealt with by the people. So, I believe it’s over for him as your rightful place has been returned. You should freshen up, a lot of people would be coming to see you. I wish you luck and pray you find happiness henceforth. I’ll leave now”, with calm steps, she started towards the door.
“Wait…!” He got to his feet, making her halt by the door. “I… I don’t even know your name”.
“They call me Shilah, but I’m sure my mother must’ve had a different name for me” she answered satirically, her eyes to the door.
“Please, Shilah” Achlys’ voice sounded pained. “Give me a chance to explain, I’m not as beastly as you think”.
“Not today, father” she cut in immediately, her voice wrapped in cold. “You do not have that chance today”.
And without a backward glance, she walked out the door.
