Alpha’s Virgin Wife by Baby Charlene
Chapter 132
Tired and hungry, Shilah dragged her feet towards the one place she never thought she’d ever have to return to. – at least, not in that manner.
Dignity was far from her, pride was not even in her list anymore as all she needed at that moment was help. Help from her enemies, help from friends, help from those that had treated her like trash and lied to her about being a part of the family. Help from anyone at all.
Her sore fists knocked feebly on the door, her heart panting heavily as she hoped she would get a positive reply. Her lips were chapped and needed some water.
Knocking for the third time, the door finally went open with Ina showing up and Shilah could notice the swift change of mood on her face. She had gone from curious to confused.
“Shilah?” She called in that muddled tone, her brows arching in equal confusion.
Her hands were holding the door open as she gave that shocked quizzical look. She prolly didn’t know the right way to address her.
“H-Hi Ina” Shilah stuttered feebly, trying so hard to maintain standing.
“Is…. Is Father home?”
“Father’s not at home” Ina scoffed and just then, her mother showed up.
“What?” Was the first word she flinched. “What’re you doing here, you cursed wolf?”
The words like a bee sting to Shilah’s chest, but she chose to ignore it all.
“Greetings, Mother” she lowered her head.
“Keep your greetings to yourself, you ungrateful soul” came the rasp reply. “You dare to bring such shame to this family?? What’re you doing here?”
Hearing the words – especially of things Shilah knew nothing about – was k*il*ling her slowly. But again, she had to ignore it.
Gulping hard, she said, “I’m sorry for disturbing you, Mother. And I’m sorry for the pains and embarra*s*sment I must’ve caused you. But I want you to know… I know nothing of what they say….”
“Oh! Please” Mrs Walter scoffed. “Do I look so gullible to you? You were caught red-handed in bed with a man, Shilah, and you want me to believe you? So, what were you doing with him? Playing? You should be thankful the King didn’t k*il*l you.”
“I didn’t do it” Came Shilah’s whimpered reply. “It’s all a set up”.
“And why would anyone want to set you up?” Mrs Walter asked. “Look, there is no time for this, Shilah. Just tell me why you are here and leave”.
*Leave?* Shilah thought. Would she have to leave? She gulped hard again. “I need some food….and water”.
“Some food and water?” Mrs Walter grimaced and glanced at Ina who supported her with a scornful look. “Does this look like a tavern to you, Shilah? Or a refuge home?”
She paused and chuckled. “Well, to cut the story short, I don’t have any food or water to give to a d*um*b person like you”.
Shilah’s drowsy eyes dimmed.
“No, please mother” She muttered. “I really need some help”.
“And I just said I have none to give to you”.
“Mother….”
“And stop calling me MOTHER!” Mrs Walter rasped, shutting Shilah up. The four eyes were interlocked.
“I am not your mother, okay? I am not the one who dumped you in the woods. So, stop calling me one!”
Shilah’s heart twitched in her chest. The pain – it was like no other. Although, her step mother had always been hard on her: but that very day, it was different.
She took her gaze to Ina who looked pleased with what her mother was doing. Of course, it was obvious as she had no remorse on her face.
She returned the gaze to Mrs Walter who still had that hateful look in her eyes. And at that moment, it made her realize she was never going to get help from them.
So, with a sniffle, she turned around and started walking away.
“Make sure you don’t ever come back, Shilah” Mrs Walter spoke from behind and Shilah’s feet halted as slowly, she turned to look at her. Her sore eyes were barely blinking, her lips looked like they wanted to say something. She had something to say, but alas, she could spit out any. And soberly, she turned around and continued walking.
*********************
Queen Dyani was in her room when a guard showed up and informed her that her maid had been attacked and was undergoing treatment.
“Where is she??” She demanded fearfully and ran after the guard who led her to where Anya was being taken care of.
Dyani felt it was bad enough that Shilah was gone. Getting to have her maid’s life being threatened was another bomb she prolly wouldn’t be able to control.
Getting to one of the Physician’s room with the guard, she was shocked to find Anya really unconscious on the bed as she bled from the head and chest. Mato and Rancho were there, working on her.
“What in the name of Selene happened to her??” Dyani flinched as she rushed over to the bed.
“Keep calm, Queen. We’re working on her, she’ll be fine” Came the Physician’s reply.
“Are … Are you sure?” She asked fearfully.
“Who did this? What happened to her??” She turned to the guard beside her and asked.
“I have no idea, My Queen. I’d been walking with a co- guard when we heard her screaming. And rushing to the spot, we found her this way and quickly brought her to the Physician”. He explained, head bowed.
“What?” Dyani scoffed, turning to look at Anya on the bed.
Someone had done this to her on purpose? The wound from her chest – someone had definitely pierced her with it’s claws with the intent of k*il*ling her. Who could’ve done this??
Could all these just be a coincidence? Or something was really wrong??
