Chapter 45
Ella’s POV:
As soon as I heard his voice, my whole body went rigid and tensed. I was still in alpha Klaus’s arms, he instantly tightened his hold on me as he sensed the change in my body.
“What’s wrong?” he asked with a furrow.
I was still reeling from what that man just said to me about Sara.
What did he mean?
“Dear Sara couldn’t hold her tears from coming down when she saw you dancing with her son in law. She was probably feeling sad because of how affectionate both of you danced. I guess she missed her daughter so much she couldn’t watch you two dancing anymore, she took off for the bathroom. My guy snatched her right away. She is somewhere safe. And she will remain that way if you do exactly what I tell you. And I mean exactly. If you evade my orders by even a letter, Sara will d*ie in one mind link from me to my guy.”
Another song started playing and all around us, people started dancing.
I gripped the back of the alpha’s neck as I felt dizzy from the horrible turn this day has taken.
“Talk to me Ella. What’s wrong?” alpha Klaus was looking at me in concern.
I couldn’t open my mouth. What do I tell him?
The man speaks in my head again, “Tell him this was a mistake. You want him to leave you alone and never come near you again. You better mean it Ella or Sara will suffer the consequences. You will get out of the hall and head towards the roof of the pack house and wait for me. If I so much as smell someone following me, or coming into the roof before I am done with you, Joseph will be a widower. Keep your mouth and head shut, that’s if you really care about them and value their lives above yours.”
My eyes were tearing up. I was trapped. Unable to do anything but follow his orders. I could never risk Sara’s life and put her in danger. I wanted to break down but held myself barely.
I have to pull myself together. There was no room for panic or fear that I am going to d*ie today. The longer I stay quiet, the more suspicious I will look in front of alpha Klaus.
You better mean it Ella, he had said.
I let go of his neck and try to back away from him, but his arms around my waist are trapping me in place, holding me tighter.
He’s staring at me in wariness.
The tears start falling as soon as I open my mouth “This was a mistake. Let me go” I whisper to him.
“What changed all of a sudden? It didn’t look like a mistake five seconds ago when you were holding me,” he asked tightly.
I practically pry his hands away from my waist and back off.
You better mean it Ella, I keep telling myself.
“I was lying to myself. I will always be afraid of you, always hate you for what you said and did to me in the past. I don’t want anything to do with you. Stay away from me and don’t come near me ever again,” I put as much disdain and hate in my tone as I possibly can.
I turn around and head for the exit without a second glance.
His face when I said those things was breaking my heart in half. He looked so hurt and crushed.
I head up towards the roof, with tears streaming down my face. The last thing I ever said to him was that I hate him. I wonder if he will understand later; after I d*ie, that I didn’t really mean any of the things I said.
I enter the roof, close the door behind me, and wait for him to come for me. The roof is enormous in size, and completely empty of any potential weapon I could use to my advantage. There was only the door I came from built in a small, boxlike hard cement structure.
I allow myself ten whole seconds to fully panic. I let my body shake with sobs and my chest clinch in agony.
Once the ten seconds were over, I wiped away the tears from my face, took deep calming breaths, and concentrated on trying to save everyone, including myself.
After a couple of minutes of thinking, I knew exactly what to do. I didn’t know if it will work or not, but it was my only option. I just needed to make sure that the man left the hall.
I try to mind link Sara several times, but I don’t hear a response. She was either already dead or passed out. I prayed that she was just unconscious, because the other option was too damn devastating.
I head over towards the closed door, and stick my ear to it. I waited until I heard the faint, distant sound of him climbing up the stairs, then backed away and mind linked Joseph before he comes through the door “Joseph, Sara has been kidnapped from the bathroom. The guy who attacked me, he has another man working with him. He has Sara but I don’t know where she is. You need to look for her, and save her. I did everything he asked me to do, but I don’t know how long he will keep his word and not harm her”
“Oh my god! Ella tell me where you are,” said Joseph in a scared tone. It was the first time I ever heard him scared, it brought a lump to my throat.
“I can’t. If he senses someone coming, he will mind link his guy to K*ll Sara. You need to find her. Please Joseph just save her. I didn’t tell you this before, but you and Sara are the closest thing I ever had to a family. The love I felt from you these past weeks meant the world to me. I love you, both of you. Thank you for everything you have done for me.”
“No! Don’t you dare say goodbye to me Ella. Just tell me where you are. I will save you both. Tell me,” he begged.
I didn’t answer him back. I didn’t want him to risk his life or Sara’s to save me. I would rather d*ie than let something happen to any of them because of me.
I will be damned if I go out without putting up a hell of a fight either.
I take off my heels and stare at the door. Thank god my dress had a long side sl!t. It would give me the freedom to move.
In two weeks of training with Linda, I have learned a lot. But it was all defensive training, we haven’t reached the offensive training yet. And it was no match for a man who has been fighting most of his life. But it was all I had.
The door bursts open and he walks towards me with a cold smile on his face.
