Chapter 35
Ella’s POV:
I woke up in the middle of the night and put my hand over my mouth to keep myself from screaming in terror. I was having a nightmare as usual.
This time it was the mysterious guy who tried to K*ll me at the old pack. He was haunting my dreams every night now.
I leaned over the bed and drank some water from the cup on the nightstand.
I sighed in frustration. Sleep was long gone now for me. I was so tired but I know I’ll never be able to go back to sleep now.
It had been a long emotionally difficult day. My earlier panic attack took a lot of strength from me.
Sara came to check on me half an hour after I returned to my room. Apparently, alpha Klaus told her what happened in the training room and asked her to check on me. We sat together until dinner. I told her about everything that happened in Joseph’s office and then after with the training instructor. She listened to everything I said attentively.
She was very happy that alpha Klaus and I apologized to each other and kind of broke through the ice between us. She told me that my panic attack was something expected, and that she will work with me on ways to avoid them.
I had to repeat the same story to Joseph again at dinner. He seemed so surprised when I told him what happened in his office before, he walked in.
“No wonder Klaus was so pissed off” he had said.
And then I told him about the training instructor. He promised he would find me someone else to my request.
“So, you and Klaus are okay now?” asked Joseph carefully.
“I don’t know exactly what we are now. I mean we apologized to each other and kind of had a decent conversation where we didn’t tear into each other. I would call that progress” I said optimistically.
After dinner, I went back to my room and slept as soon as my head hit the pillow, until my nightmare.
I looked at my phone and saw it was 2:45 a.m. What the hell should I do now? I asked myself.
I ended up on the huge sofa, watching a comedy movie on TV. It was a nice distraction, I found myself smiling at some of the scenes. When it was over, I found myself still unable to sleep, so I watched another one. Halfway through the second movie I drifted off to sleep.
I woke up to a knock on my door, disoriented and a bit dizzy.
What time is it? I wondered to myself. As the second knock came, my phone told me it was 8:45 a.m. sh*t! I slept past my usual time.
I went to my door in a hurry and opened it. I found Joseph standing with two women.
“Good morning, Ella. Were you sleeping until now?” said Joseph cheerfully.
I let them in as I answered in a sleepy tone “Ummm… yes, I woke up in the middle of the night, and had a hard time going back to sleep again.”
He gave me a tender look as he seemed to understand that I had a nightmare.
“Ella, I want to introduce you to Stephanie and Linda. One of them will always be with you. They will work in shifts. And whoever is on duty during your training time, will be the one responsible for your training,” said Joseph.
I shook hands with them. They were both young, probably in their twenties. Stephanie was dark-skinned with black curly short hair, and a slender body. Linda was fair-skinned with lovely dark blue eyes and long red wavy hair. They seemed sweet and not at all bothered by this boring job of following me around or hanging out in my room most of the time. I wondered what Joseph told them about me, and about the reason for this sudden task.
“First shift is on Linda, I just wanted you to meet them both first. Do you need something before I leave, kiddo?” asked Joseph warmly.
My heart always blooms whenever Joseph speaks to me, especially when he calls me kiddo.
“Yes, I need to ask you something… privately,” I said shyly.
Both girls left the room at once and closed the door behind them.
“What exactly did you tell them about me, and the reason for guarding me all the time?” I asked curiously.
“Mostly the truth. I told them you were attacked by a mysterious guy in your old pack, and alpha Klaus brought you here to protect you, that’s it,” answered Joseph.
I nodded my head.
“Hey are you really, ok? You had another nightmare, didn’t you?” he said warily while holding my shoulders.
I smiled rea*s*suringly and said “I’m fine, it’s nothing new really.”
“I just keep hoping that after being here for a few days now, that the nightmares will go away,” he said sadly.
“I keep hoping for that too, maybe in a few more weeks,” I said.
“Do you need something else?”
“No, thanks for everything.”
He hugged me tightly, then left the room.
I noticed that Linda stayed outside after Joseph left, so I opened the door and said smiling “You can come in Linda.”
“It’s okay I’ll just stand here to keep an eye on things”
“Are you kidding me? No way. You’re not standing outside the whole time. Come in please. As long as I stay in the room, you will stay inside with me” I said firmly.
She came inside and I shut the door behind her.
“I need to use the bathroom, my tutor Jake will be here shortly, you can let him in if I didn’t finish by then” I told her.
She nodded in understanding.
I went to the bathroom and took the fastest shower I could manage, as I didn’t want to make Jake wait on our first day of starting our study plan.
As I was about to dress, I heard a knock on the door.
I heard Linda open the door.
“Oh… I’m sorry I thought this was Ella’s room,” said Jake in confusion.
“It is Ella’s room, I’m Linda, her guardian. Who are you?” asked Linda formally.
“I’m Jake her tutor.”
“Can I see your id please?” said Linda strictly.
“You’re kidding me, right?” asked Jake in shock.
“Not even a little bit.”
I put on my shirt quickly and got out of the bathroom before they end up fighting each other.
“Hey, Jake come in please. I believe you met Linda, my guardian. Linda this is Jake my tutor.”
Jake came inside and shook hands with Linda while checking her out, which did not p@ssby Linda unnoticed.
“See something you like?” asked Linda with raised eyebrows.
Jake just smiled and went to sit on the table.
Uh oh! I really hope they don’t end up fighting each other.
