Chapter 140 Ambushed on the Way Back
Radley stood by the window and looked out into the night.
He couldn’t believe Professor Harlan turned out to be Freya!
No wonder Freya was able to promise Brandon so easily when they were in Lagresh!
He realized Freya had deceived him yet again!
How many more secrets does she have? he wondered.
Radley suddenly felt a sense of emptiness in his heart as he felt he couldn’t grasp Freya anymore!

“Radley.” Rosie’s call from the side snapped Radley out of his thoughts. His face darkened slightly. “I’ll go out for a moment. You rest early!”
He hurriedly went to the courtyard and got into his car.
The night wind howled, as if reflecting Radley’s emotions.
He intended to find Freya and ask her how many more secrets she had that he didn’t know about!
In the car, Freya glanced at the time leisurely.
It was already past 9 p.m. Freya lowered the car window slightly and allowed the night breeze to flow into, the car.
Meanwhile, Brisa had become carefree as she drove the car while humming a song.
Freya chuckled. “You have quite an attitude when you drive.”
Brisa whistled loudly. “Of course! Or do you want the obedient little assistant from before? That’ll cost you!”
“No! I like you the way you are now!” Freya immediately replied.
“You’re so stingy!”
The two chatted casually until the car stopped by the road near Stanmore Lake.
At this time, Stanmore Lake was bustling with people taking walks, and the traffic on the road had become congested.
Freya leaned against the car window lazily as she squinted at the trinkets on the roadside stalls.
Brisa became impatient. “It’s already past nine, so why is it still so jammed!”
Even after more than ten minutes, the car had only moved a few dozen meters on the road.
Contrastingly, the motorcycles in the middle of the road were moving unimpeded. After another passed, there was a sudden loud bang from the car!
Bang!

The two exchanged glances, and the car tilted abruptly after the loud noise.
Freya frowned. “The tire blew.”
Brisa’s face turned cold. “Don’t get out of the car!”
It was too coincidental for the tire to blow just after the passing motorcycle!
Both became serious.

“It should have been punctured by the person on the motorcycle just now. What do we do now?” Freya asked.
Brisa’s face was grim. “Let’s keep driving to a safe place first!”
As they departed from Stanmore Lake, the road conditions improved.
“There are two routes we can take to reach Kaufmann Residence from here.” Freya calculated.
“One of the routes is a main road with heavy traffic and many traffic police officers, so it’s unlikely that anyone would target us there. That leaves only the other route, which passes by Fairwick Park. Along that road, there are no shops due to the park’s walls, so there are even fewer people there at night.”
Ereya took out her phone. “I’ll have someone come to pick us up!”
Brisa drove sternly as the blown tire caused the entire car to shake and bump along.
Just as Freya finished editing her message, the car suddenly shook violently!
She instinctively reached out to brace the front seat, protecting her lower abdomen.
Brisa reacted quickly, and both turned to look at the back of the car.
A bus accelerated again to collide with the rear end of their car and push Freya’s car forward!
Brisa gritted her teeth as she saw the terrified faces of the people on the bus through the rearview mirror.
“D“mn, is the driver out of his mind?” Brisa cursed in a low voice and floored the accelerator pedal.
With the blown tire, increasing the speed would only make it more dangerous. However, the bus behind them kept pushing the car forward if Brisa didn’t speed up.
If they slowed down even a bit, the car would risk being crushed!
The expressions on the faces of Freya and Brisa became dense.
After the car was pushed forward for a while, Brisa looked ahead.
Up ahead was Wilrath Bridge, and under the bridge was a big river in Caltun.
The car had already been deformed, and it seemed like the bus driver was intentionally pushing it toward the railing by the river.
Underneath the guardrail, the raging river was just a dozen meters away!
“D“mn it!” Brisa cursed loudly. “Freya, get ready to jump out of the car!”

Freya held her belly. Jump out of the car?”

At the current high speed of the car, she couldn’t ensure the baby’s safety in her belly if she jumped out!
Brisa also noticed Freya’s protective gesture. “D“mn it! So, puncturing our tire and luring the bus to crash into us was part of the trap. What should we do now?”
Freya pursed her lips and crawled from the back seat to the front seat. “Brisa, you jump out of the car first. I’ll handle the rest myself!”
Cursing, Brisa forcefully pushed Freya aside. “Sit still!”
People on the bus behind them screamed, but the bus driver didn’t show any signs of stopping.
As the car was getting closer to the edge of the river with a dozen meters left, Brisa suddenly thought of something.
“Freya, open the car door first. There’s a high chance that the doors won’t open after the car goes into the water! Once our car is knocked out of the railing, jump into the water immediately!”
Jumping into the water was less dangerous than jumping out of the car, so at least Freya could try to protect her stomach from a huge impact!
Ereya’s face was cold. “Okay!”
She opened the car door.
Just a few seconds after Freya’s response, her car was bumped by the bus and slammed heavily into the
railing!
With one trailing the other, a sports car and a bus formed an arc in the air!
Freya and Brisa almost simultaneously jumped out of the car and plunged into the water!
The current was swift when Freya held her abdomen and fell into the river.
The bus closely pursued the sports car and plunged into the river as well. The tremendous impact slapped her and left her almost on the verge of fainting.
She held her breath and calmly waited for the impact to subside before emerging to the surface and taking a few breaths.
“Brisa! Where are you?!”
After calling out several times, Freya heard Brisa’s weak voice not far away. I’m here. Let’s swim to the shore first.”
With a frown, Freya was about to swim toward the shore when she suddenly felt something was wrong.
The surroundings were silent, with rough waves crashing around her. She realized that there were clearly many passengers on the bus, yet none had surfaced until now.
Freya’s heart skipped a beat as she feared the bus door might have issues opening.
She looked at Brisa, who was swimming toward the shore. “Brisa, do we have a window breaker in our car?”

Brisa turned back. “Yes, we do
The two understood each other without needing to say much.
After a curse, Brisa swam back to help.
Freya had dove into her own car to retrieve the window breaker before rescuing the people inside.
With all her strength, she retrieved the window breaker and swam toward the bus in the water.
Luckily, the moonlight was bright that night, and she could faintly see that the bus was not fully submerged yet.
As Freya swam toward the side of the car window, Brisa had already reached there as well.

Exerting force in the water was not easy, so Freya made several attempts before running out of breath.
She handed the window breaker to Brisa, took a quick breath at the water’s surface, and immediately dove down again.
