Immediately the words left my mouth, I cursed at myself. I didn’t have twenty thousand dollars and although I could ask my dad, there had to be a good reason for why I needed it and I didn’t know anyone capable of asking their parents for money to pay off their one-night stand. Their one-night stand who was also their mate. I was screwed.
What on earth made me say I was going to write him a check and why on earth was he so pressed about the money anyway? He obviously didn’t need it and he claimed not to be a prostitute or at least that was what I got from the look on his face when I offered to pay him to sleep with me.
“Make sure you add the bill for the hotel room as well, that’s on you.” He said co ol ly and I co cked m y head before folding my arms and giving him a ‘you’ve got to be kidding me look’.
I could feel people’s eyes begin to rest on us and I wondered if we had given a hint of what this crazy conversation was all about. I wondered what my mother was thinking. I’d felt her eyes on me the entire time and I wondered whether they were talking about us; my mom and the Luna. We were their children after all and our conversation was beginning to draw attention. The room began to feel stuffy and yet I felt weirdly cold inside.
“That’s not on me.” I hissed at him. “I gave you directions to my place! It was you who decided to take me to a bl oo dy overpriced hotel room instead. You will pay for it.” Alexan der said nothing which infuriated me even more. What game did he think he was playing?
“Nobody should know about last night,” I said seriously because whether or not he was going to reply me, I knew he was listening and if he didn’t get anything else, he should get that at least.

Before I could say anything else though, someone sidled up to him. It was another young man about the same height as Alexander. I have seen him around although whether we have or haven’t ever had a conversation, I couldn’t really remember. It looked like he was telling the Alpha that he was needed somewhere else. Alexander simply nodded before turning to me.
“Excuse me.” He said curtly, leaving me standing there, feeling angry and embarrassed. Almost immediately, my mother’s scent filled the air around me, and the next second, she was beside me. I sighed and she gave me a mock slap on my shoulder.

“What was that all about? Have you managed to pi s s off the new Alpha already?” She hissed and I rolled my eyes at her grabbing a glass from a tray a server was carrying around. When I downed it in one gulp, my mother frowned disapprovingly but I couldn’t care less, my night was going horribly and if I thought I needed a drink, I was going to have one.
The music was suddenly reduced and someone cleared their throat into a mic causing everyone to cease their mingling and discussion and turn in his direction.
“Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen. May I just say, everyone is looking absolutely dashing tonight? On behalf of the Alpha and Luna, I want to welcome you all to today’s event. Not only is this a welcome back party for their son who has just come back from finishing his studies abroad but a handover of power as well. Today, Alpha Graham would be officially handing over his title and power as Alpha to his son, Alpha Alexander.”
The entire room burst into applause until Alexander came and took the mic from the man.
