Chapter 566
Steven fell silent for a few seconds. “Then perhaps it’s a hospital issue?”
“That’s even less likely. My mom took me for checkups every year when she was healthy. If I wasn’t her child, how could she not know? And we still have her ultrasound scans from when she was pregnant with me. I’m definitely her child.”
Steven fell silent.
This was his doubt as well.
Celeste’s blood type clearly indicated she wasn’t Caitlyn and Shawn’s child. Could Caitlyn have been oblivious?
Celeste’s affection for Caitlyn was so deep. Bringing up her origins at this time might backfire.
“Mr. Garcia,” Celeste broke his thoughts. She said, “My origin might become a scandal. If you think it’s risky, you can terminate the contract. But I might not be able to afford the full penalty.”
Steven smiled. “Only illegal things are scandals. What’s this? We don’t rely on you to attract fans. Just focus on acting; don’t worry about other things.”
He asked again, “By the way, have you bought your house yet?”
At this point, Celeste felt a headache coming on. “Not yet.”
Steven was surprised.
Trisha explained, “Her ex–husband transferred two properties under her name before their divorce.”
Celeste…
Steven asked, “Are you two back together?”
“Not at all,” Celeste answered, feeling a bit awkward discussing her personal life with her boss. “He’s not thinking straight.” Steven seemed to relax a bit. “In that case, don’t buy a house for now. I’ll have the company arrange accommodation for you.” “No need to bother, I can rent a place myself.”
“It’s no bother. We’re obligated to ensure the safety of our artists during the contract period. It’s not free; the rent will be deducted from your salary. The company apartments are nice, not shared, and decently sized. You can bring your friend to live with you; girls should look out for each other.”
Trisha raised her hand. “Excuse me, where are these company apartments located?”
Steven smiled. “Not too far from where you’re living now, Grandview Heights.”
Trisha’s eyes widened in excitement as she frantically patted Celeste’s arm, silently urging her to
agree.
Living in a top–tier residential area provided by the company? Only a fool would refuse!
Celeste originally planned to say no. But considering her current situation, Steven’s help was like a godsend. Why should she continue to resist? She just needed to work her butt off on the set and help her boss earn this money back.
So Celeste agreed.
Steven chuckled. “I’ll have the company send someone to help you move later.”
“No rush. I’ve still got a ton of stuff to pack. Plus, my lease isn’t up yet. need to talk to my landlord about breaking it.”
Steven didn’t insist: “Just let me know when you’ve sorted it out.”
Instead of taking Celeste to meet the director, Steven took them to dinner.
He said Celeste wasn’t in the right headspace today to meet the director. She should first get her mojo back.
Trisha was moved by this humane boss, feeling a lump in her throat. How come her boss, Hudson Reel, always made her work
overtime?
