Chapter 551
Seeing the woman in the picture again, Clair suddenly noticed that she bore a striking resemblance to Celeste.
No wonder their dad had that expression when he saw Celeste at the dinner party.
She stared at the photo for a while, then returned it to its original place, closed the drawer, and left with the essential oil.
Although they were supposed to be having dinner, Liam barely touched his food and instead ordered some drinks.
Seeing him in a bad mood, Steven was a bit puzzled.
“Did Uncle Clyde Reed kick you out of the company?”
Liam glanced at him, “If anyone is getting kicked out, it’s him.”
“Then, did you…” Steven narrowed his eyes and lowered his voice, “Find out that Celeste and I are getting close?”
At this, Liam paused, then bluntly stated, “She’s not into you.”
Steven: “She might’ve been into you, but she still dumped you, didn’t she?”
Liam tightened his lips and surprisingly didn’t refute.
It seemed to really have something to do with Celeste.
Liam poured two glasses of wine, pushed one to Mason Fletcher, and started drinking the other one himself.
After finishing one glass, he finally spoke again, “What do I have to do to get a stake in the company?”
“Easy,” Steven’s conditions were quite harsh, “10% of the shares, one hundred million, no dividends for the first two years. If you think it’s okay, I’ll have someone prepare the contract. If not, then-”
“Deal
Liam agreed cleanly, which made Steven feel like he was shortchanging himself.
He had only spent fifty million to register the company, and the new company hadn’t achieved any real results yet. To fleece Liam for a hundred million for a 10% stake was outright extortion.
If he had known Liam would agree, he would have asked for a billion and no dividends for ten years!
“When do we sign?”
Steven glanced at him, “Tomorrow.”
When Clair came out of the bathroom, she saw Liam drinking alone with Steven sitting next to him, not trying to stop him.
“Steven, Liam can’t hold his liquor. What if he gets drunk?”
Steven propped his chin on his hand, looking nonchalant, “If he gets drunk, he gets drunk. He’s a man, he’ll be fine.”
Clair tried to persuade him, “Liam, drink less, it’s not good to be drunk.”
He didn’t like her unfamiliar scent, so he frowned and avoided her, whispering, “Don’t touch me!”
Steven: “Don’t bother him. The best case scenario is that he gets drunk and we can leave him on the side of the road and go.”
Unable to convince Liam, who wouldn’t let her near him, Clair could only sit by, looking worried.
Steven casually sipped the wine in his glass, then suddenly asked, “Clair, what do you think of Mason?”
Clair: “He’s okay, I guess. We haven’t had much interaction. Did something happen?”
“Mrs. Janis came to me yesterday,” Steven smiled, “She thinks you two would make a good match and seemed to want to introduce you.”
Clair was a bit helpless, “I hardly ever talk to him, my mom was just saying things. I don’t like lawyers. If we ever had a fight, how could I -win against a lawyer?”
Steven chuckled, jestingly saying, “Mason hardly ever gets into quarrels, if you can manage to get into one with him, that’s quite impressive.”
With that, Liam wobbled to his feet, declaring he needed to visit the restroom.
Steven paid no attention to him. But just as Liam took two steps, he tripped over a chair. Nearly falling, Clair quickly caught him, glaring at Steven, “Dude! Why didn’t you help?!”
Only then did Steven leisurely rise to his feet, taking over Liam, and grumbled, “useless!”
Then he assisted Liam to the restroom.
As soon as they left, Steven’s phone on the table buzzed. A text message popped up on the screen.
