Erica led Izzy out into the corridor, a faint grin tugging at Izzy‘ lips. She was fond of this level of trust.
At the couch reserved for guests in the corridor, Izzy hung her head low, a hint of guilt creeping in, “Mum, thank you, but I’m really sorry.”
Seeing Izzy like this, Erica couldn’t help but chuckle, ruffling her hair with a sigh, a bit worried about her character.
“Izzy, I’m your mother. What I said in front of your aunt and uncle was from the heart. I truly see you as my own daughter. You don’t have to thank me, okay?”
Hearing “I’m your mother“, Izzy was moved beyond words. It’s often said that mother–in–laws are naturally biased and can’t compare to a real
mom.

Izzy nodded slightly and said in a soft voice, “Alright.”
“That’s my girl.” Erica ruffled Izzy’s hair and sat her down.
Her heart was warm.
With a mother–in–law like this, why hide the past? “Mom, I don’t know if Ethan told you, but I had a car accident a few years ago. I can’t remember the past clearly, just vaguely. The woman just now is my half–sister, my mom committed suicide because of my dad’s betrayal. And on the night before my engagement party when I was 22, which was five years ago, I saw my fiancé cheating on me with my sister. I was so hurt and angry that I ran her over on the day of the engagement party, leaving her legs crippled. My stepmother insisted on suing me, but my aunt

Regardless, it was all in the past. Izzy didn’t want to worry Erica, so she shook her head and said, “I was in a coma for over a month. When I woke up, I had only lost my memory. I have some trauma from the accident, but everything else is fine.”
“That’s good.” Erica was relieved. Her son finally found someone he liked, and she didn’t want him to bear the pain of loss again.
Seeing that Erica didn’t mind her past, Izzy felt the pressure that had been building up in her heart for some time finally dissipated. But she was somewhat curious, “Mom, aren’t you worried about what I’ve done before? Aren’t you doubting my character?”
Erica smiled, “You’re not a bad kid.”

Izzy cutting ties with the Galeana family meant she had given up everything that should’ve been hers and let Emma take her place.
