Chapter 8
She was wearing a gentle low ponytail, looking delicate from behind. She was looking down at her phone, seemingly not noticing the person who had walked up to her.
“What are you doing here?” The questioning tone sounded somewhat cold..
Seeing him early in the morning. Celeste’s mood instantly became bad, and her voice was somewhat impatient. She said, “You can be here, why can’t I?”
Liam scoffed, “Haven’t you had enough of playing the stalking game?”
Celeste frowned, who gave him such confidence?
Seeing her not speaking, Liam was even more convinced of his suspicion. His mood improved a bit, but his tone was still cold, “If you want to know my schedule, just call and ask me, no need to go around in circles.”
Celeste endured but couldn’t help it, “Liam, has anyone ever told you that you’re narcissistic? Who’s stalking you? Did I stalk you by coming out of the elevator? Did I ever utter one word to you? Who is following me?”
“Pfft-” Nicolas, who was eavesdropping from the shadows, couldn’t help but laugh.
Liam glared at him, and he immediately fled and disappeared.
He asked with a straight face, “So why are you here?”
Her answer was even more cutting, “What’s it to you?”
Liam’s eyelid twitched, and he estimated that if they continued, they would start arguing. He suppressed his anger, and curtly said, “Kaylee is back; Mom wants us to come over for dinner tomorrow.”
“Oh.” Celeste said flatly, “What’s it to me? We’re about to get divorced; I don’t need to play the happy family act with you anymore, right?”
“Acting?” Liam’s suppressed anger erupted again, and he sneered, “You’re quite good at acting. What do you want this time? Clothes? Bags? Jewelry? Or is it for the Campbell family to get a project? You want a divorce, and then run away from home. For such a realistic act, how much does Shawn Campbell want this time? There should be a limit to being insatiable.”
Celeste’s heart trembled, and she slowly clenched her trembling fingers.
The diamond bracelet on her wrist was a birthday gift from Liam in their first year of marriage. No, to be precise, it was something she asked Liam for.
Valentine’s Day, wedding anniversary, her birthday… Each time, she would ask him for gifts in a flirting way, hoping to make him remember these special days.
These sweet memories in her eyes were, in his view, her insatiable greed time and time again.
Celeste’s face was a bit pale, her lowered eyelashes hiding her emotions. Just as Liam wanted to explore, her eyes lifted, and at this moment, all that was left was coldness.
She took off the bracelet and said calmly, “Once we’re divorced, you won’t have to worry about these things anymore. Whether you work with the Campbell family has nothing to do with me.”
As her words fell, the bracelet slid into Liam’s suit pocket.
Her ride arrived, and Celeste walked a few steps and stopped. She looked back at him, and suddenly laughed, mocking herself, “Why would I have any expectations of you?”
With that, Celeste turned and got in the car.
Liam stared fixedly at the direction the car was leaving, his eyes seemingly on fire.
“Is Celeste going to divorce you?” Nicolas’s curious and nosy question came from behind.
Liam glared at him coldly, “Haven’t you ever seen a couple fight? Mind your own business!”
