Chapter 15
She looked despairingly toward the door, desperately wishing that someone would come and save
her at that moment…
Perhaps her plea was heard by the heavens as urgent footsteps sounded from outside, and then a tall and imposing figure burst into her sight, igniting a glimmer of hope in her dim eyes.
When Jack entered, the following scene greeted him: a masked man was pinning Olivia down, her nightgown ripped into pieces, her messy long hair scattered across her cheeks, and her eyes filled with despair, fixedly staring at him.
She looked as if she had seen a savior.
Never before had he felt such anger as he did at that moment, and his gaze was as sharp as the icy edges of midwinter. Then, taking a quick step forward, he grabbed the masked man by the collar and ruthlessly dragged him off the bed.
The man was slow to react. When he attempted to resist, Jack kicked him in the chest, causing him to groan in pain and curl up.
Olivia quickly grabbed the blanket and tightly wrapped herself in it, frantically searching for her phone.
Seeing her actions, Jack spoke in a deep voice, “Don’t call the police yet.”
She paused, lifting her tear–filled eyes to look at him, but he had already dragged the man out of the room.
He took the man outside, down the stairs, and led him to a blind spot of the surveillance cameras in the residential area before throwing him to the ground.
The man attempted to get up, but as soon as he stood, he received a kick to the stomach, crashing into the wall.
Terrified, he stared at the man before him, who resembled the devil. He could sense the
murderous intent emanating from him.
“Bro… bro, let’s talk it out!”
With tightly pursed lips, Jack wasted no words. Instead, he raised his hand and delivered a punch straight to the man’s nose.
“Ahh!”
The man covered his nose with his hand, and before he could react, Jack hit him in the head. With a thud, the man’s eyes rolled back, not even having time to scream before he passed out. Jack discarded the iron rod, taking out his phone to make a call. “Come here.”
Within a minute, two bodyguards walked in and respectfully greeted him. “Mr. Shaw.”
He lifted his chin slightly. “Take him away.”
“Yes, sir.”
The man lying on the ground probably had no idea what fate awaited him.
When Jack returned, she was in the bedroom changing the bedsheets. The bloodstained sheets and covers were replaced and thrown into the living room, and she had put on a blue set.
Hearing footsteps, she turned around like a startled child, fear and paleness still evident on her face.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw it was him. After laying the sheets, she came out of the bedroom.
“Where is that man?” she asked hoarsely.
“He’s been handed over to the police,” he replied, thinking for a moment before explaining, “I didn’t want you to call the police earlier because I didn’t want to disturb Granny’s rest.”
She nodded and wiped away the remaining tears from the corners of her eyes. “You always think ahead.”
“Did he do anything to you?”
“No, luckily, you arrived in time.” She shuddered at the thought, realizing that she did not know what she would have done if Jack had not been there.
He raised his hand and caressed her hair. “It’s okay.”
“Where did you go just now?” She did not want to discuss this topic anymore. After all, having been troubled twice in one day, she could not help but wonder what awaited her in the future.
She was frightened and worried that those people would come knocking again when he was not around.
“I went home to get some clothes,” he replied.
Seeing that he had changed his clothes, she did not question it further. Lowering her head, she softly said, “Don’t go out at night anymore.”
Hearing no response, she looked up at him to find him lost in thought, and he only responded when he felt her gaze on him. “Yeah.”
He added, “Go to sleep.”
She shook her head. “I can’t sleep.”
There was no way she could sleep after such an incident.
He took her hand and led her toward the bedroom, but she stopped at the doorway.
She stared at the bed, reminded of what had just happened, feeling overwhelmed by the trauma just now.
He saw through her with just one glance and spoke gently, “Don’t be afraid. I’ll stay with you.” His voice seemed to carry a unique charm. With him around, she felt a double sense of security, and it did not take long for her to fall asleep after lying down.
As he watched the woman finally drift off to sleep, the gentle expression on his face gradually faded, replaced by a chilling and cold demeanor. Finally, he stood up and walked to the balcony.
