TWO MONTHS LATER ✍️
***************************
In the large hall, two long tables were placed with chairs arranged around them.
The hall was deemed with silence as everyone present simply sat with their eyes pinned at the door. It could perhaps, be known as the biggest meeting ever held in a long time as each VampLord from all six clutches, Alphas from all seven mountains and elders from both sides were present. Just one person was missing though, and that was King Dakota – the same person they had their eyes searching for.
He was taking too long to arrive, no doubt, but neither of them could complain nor do anything aside waiting.
They past time with drinks and silent mumblings until finally, the Alpha King’s presence was made known.
They sprang on their feet immediately, everyone watching him walk through the door with his gamma in front of him.
King Dakota, hands crossed at his back, walked in with so much gentility and pinned his eyes on Ryder when they found him. He didn’t even look at the rest of the people bowing to him but just looked at the head of Ryder, his heart developing so much hatred in it. Well, two months was enough time to hear all the rumours he needed to.
He walked all the way to his seat at the head of the table and that was when other heads were raised.
“Greetings, Alpha King” they chorused esteeming-ly. And in his usual nature, King Dakota took some time to reply.
“Sit” his tone was sounding better.
With a little noise, the Alphas, VampLords and elders returned to their seats. Every other guard stood behind.
“Uhm…Welcome, King Dakota. I believe you had a wonderful time coming here?” One of the elders began, his dent*ition not being good for a smile.
“I did. But I really don’t want to be here, So, I’d suggest we move on with the meeting as quickly as possible” He answered bluntly.
His reactions were expected anyways as everyone knew he was angry.
“Uhm… Okay” The second elder cleared his throat. “The reason we’re gathered here today is as a result of a very pressing matter. Two months ago, the filed a report where they requested for a change in leadership. According to them, they no longer want to be under the Wolves, but wants the wolves to be under them. This request is rightfully theirs as it was stated in the conjoined laws and that is the reason we’re here today to deliberate on it”.
The five elders whispered amongst themselves, while the Alphas and VampLords just stared at each other.
Suddenly, Dakota scoffed and leaned forward. “Is this what you really want?” His eyes were directed at Ryder. “You’ve finally become unable to control your hunger for power.”
“What are you talking about, King Dakota? It wasn’t just me who filed the report, it was done collectively” Ryder defended, but with a smirk.
“You can’t fool anyone, Ryder, me especially. I already know you initiated the idea and you’re the one who wants to be in control”.
“I guess that is what you want to think. But perhaps, we should ignore who started it and just go straight to the agreement”.
“Agreement?” Alpha Frost chuckled. “You’re not just a dreamer, Ryder, but a big fool. For centuries, we’ve been enjoying nothing but peace. Why in the name of Selene would you want to bring about this division?”
“With all due respect, Frost, I can take anything from you, but not you calling me names” Ryder sighed. “Moreover, I do not see the reason for a division if you’d comply”.
“You deserve to be called bigger names than this” Alpha Rhose chided in. “You should know the Wolves will not remain in power forever. According to the law, power of leadership would be passed onto the Vampires at the end of the fifth century. Why do you need to be so impatient?”
“I believe we have the right to ask for this, gentlemen” Lord Osric chipped in. “We demand power and that is final”.
“Power that would be handed only to Ryder” Dakota growled. “I can imagine what he would do to you when he finally claims it”.
“Let that be their concern, King Dakota” Ryder said. “If you do not want to hand over power, then I challenge you to a fight – like the law demands. We fight in front of everyone and he who wins remains or becomes the leader”.
Dakota’s eyes snapped. “Such nerves, Ryder, to challenge me to a fight”.
“Yes, I do. Moreover, I see no reason you’d want to keep up with the struggle, dear King. You don’t even have a son, what exactly are you fighting for?”
There was a dead-drop silence, one that created a lot of shock on the faces of others. It hit Dakota so hard, he couldn’t feel his breath for the closest seconds. For the first time in a long time, he felt the impact of an insult and while Ryder fed on his pathetic shock, he was torn into pieces.
Swifty, he grew out his claws, hopped on the table and gave a deep scratch on Ryder’s face. It happened so fast, Ryder couldn’t even prevent it. He groaned and fell back with his chair, and quickly, the rest of the Alphas and VampLords had to intervene. It had to take six Alphas and three VampLords to hold back the King from pouncing more on Ryder who was bleeding badly on the floor.
“King Dakota, please!” The elders flinched, already on their feet.
Dakota’s eyes were glowing red already with his furs coming out and at that moment, all he wanted was to rip the man on the floor apart, but the restrictions were too much . Pishan simply stood behind but didn’t make an attempt to stop him.
“I accept your challenge, Ryder” He finally said in a growl. “Me and you, we fight in five days and It’ll be a fight to the death”.
Ryder could barely hear him as he focused more on the pains and blood from his face. Though, he was a Vampire, but a scratch from an Alpha King would leave a scar on his face forever.
With a grunt, Dakota walked out on them while Pishan took some steps closer to Ryder.
“You’re lucky there were enough people to restrict him” He stated spitefully and also left, going after the King.

AT THE WITCHES PALACE ✍️
**********************
Deep asleep, Sukie felt disturbed when a knock penetrated through and woke her up. She tossed and yawned on the bed, and when the knock came again, she f0rced herself up. Her fingers were itching her eyes as she got to the door and opened it. Oh…
“Sister Corrine!” She lowered her head immediately, her heart beating heavily at the book she held with her.
“Hi, Sukie. Looks like you were sleeping” Corrine smiled. “Well, I didn’t mean to disturb you – I just wanted you to know I’d gotten the book”.
“Yes, yes. Thank you” nervously, Sukie collected the book from her. “Thank you so much for your help, Corrine. I truly appreciate”.
“Oh! It’s nothing. Although…. I do wonder what you need a pregnancy book for”.
The question nearly made Sukie fumble.
“Oh! It’s nothing serious. I’m” trying to make a particular herb for pregnant women and just need to know more about them”. She feigned a smile.
“I see. Goodluck, then. Take care of yourself”.
“And you too, Corrine”
She returned to the room and shut the door, placing her hand on her chest afterwards as she panted heavily. Oh! Dear Spirits, now she had never felt so scared and nervous in her entire life.
She rushed to the bed where she opened the big book and began running her eyes through it’s pages. She flipped and flipped until she got to the page the “Pregnancy Symptoms”.
That instance, she felt her throat running dry and her legs growing cold. As her eyes read through them, she compared her present condition with her brain:
Dizziness – she was almost sleeping the whole time. Cravings – recently, she’s been loving a lot of meals and hating the meals she once loved.
Frequent urination – the toilet was gradually becoming her best friend Feeling sick, tiredness and a missed monthly flow.
She covered her lips and gasped. Her monthly flow! For the first time, it was two months late! Dear Spirits! What could this mean?! She was pregnant!
