The Substitute Wife My Poor Husband is a Billionaire

Chapter728 Toxic Love

When Janet woke up the following morning, she found herself alone in bed. Sore from last night, she made her way downstairs awkwardly.

To her surprise, the sofa in the living room had been replaced. The new sofa was upholstered in black leather, so it wouldn’t absorb any fluids… Janet blushed furiously.

Brandon had just cooked breakfast and was setting the table when he saw Janet staring at the sofa. He smiled and called her. “Time for breakfast, honey.” “Oh, okay,” she said shyly.

“I’ll drive you to the studio afterwards,” Brandon offered while putting a piece of bread onto her plate.

Still embarra*s*sed, she nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll finish my food quickly.”

Brandon laughed heartily. “Slow down. I’ll wait for you.” Janet still didn’t feel at ease until Brandon dropped her off at the gate of her office building.

It had been the first time they had s*e*x since Brandon lost his memory. Unexpectedly, it went perfectly well. It seemed that his loss of memory didn’t affect their s*e*x compatibility at all. ‘

“You might be late,” Brandon put his hand on the steering wheel and reminded the stiff Janet patiently.

Janet immediately came to her senses and laughed embarra*s*sedly. Just as she was reaching for the door handle, Brandon grabbed her arm and pulled her in for a passionate kiss.

The kiss lasted longer than expected. Janet felt like she was about to p@ssout when Brandon finally let her go. “Relax, honey. I’m your husband, not some stranger.” Janet’s cheeks blushed furiously. She pushed Brandon away and bolted out of the car in a hurry.

But before Janet entered the building, she ran into Elizabeth and Jorge. Jorge looked calmer than usual. He smiled and nodded at Janet politely. “Good morning, Janet.”

Janet didn’t like him, but she responded in kind. “Good morning.”

She couldn’t help but glance at Elizabeth. It seemed that she didn’t take her advice seriously, since she decided to stay with this wretched man.

Elizabeth felt a little guilty when she saw Janet. She explained, “Jorge is much better now. He… He even drove me to work.”

Jorge scratched the back of his head and smiled at Janet apologetically. “I’m sorry. I was in a bad mood because of my withdrawals. As for what happened with Elizabeth, I’ve sincerely apologized to her. I won’t lose my temper again and will definitely cherish her from now on.”

Jorge’s words sounded sincere enough, but Janet’s gut told her not to trust him.

So, she simply nodded at him coldly and then walked into the studio.

After saying goodbye to Jorge, Elizabeth trotted to catch up to her friend.

She explained, “Janet, I want to give Jorge another chance. We had a good talk that day, and Jorge promised me that he’ll never hit me again.”

Janet’s heart sank. It was unlikely that the domestic abuse would stop once it started. Jorge’s promise didn’t seem to hold water.

Janet was honestly perplexed with Elizabeth. How could a woman who was always so insightful in her career be so weak and hesitant in love? How could she allow herself to indulge in such a toxic relationship? u)

“Do whatever you think is right. Only the wearer knows where the shoes hurt. I can just give you my two cents ‘ worth, but at the end of the day, it’s still your choice and your life.” Janet gave Elizabeth a meaningful look and then walked into the tea room to get some water.

Janet listened absentmindedly to the water streaming from the water dispenser. Her mind wandered to what she saw in her laptop yesterday and she didn’t realize that her glasswas almost full.

“Watch out.”

Suddenly, she heard a gentle warning. In a daze, Janet turned around and found that Draco was standing behind her. Draco frowned and grabbed the cup from Janet quickly. Only then did Janet realize what had happened.
